Hello! I have started a nature loving grassroots group in Milton Keynes called Friends of the Earth MK (@FOE_MK on Instagram).
Being the green city it would be amazing to see some new faces join! We will be doing group walks, litter picks, veggie and vegan restaurant and cafe days/nights and much much more! Whilst also having the option to join in with some campaigning at no pressure .
It’s free to join us! You just have to love the world we live in and want to make change to our lovely green spaces whilst talking about the environmental and climate crisis!
Please give us a follow to help start us out ready for our first event and get in contact with any questions! 🌍

English is not my native language, so forgive me if I'm talking nonsense, but to give a nature/MK loving group an abbreviation like FOE(_MK), isn't a bit strange?
zcapr17@reddit
Agreed. “Foe” means “an enemy”, so if real, it doesn’t seem very well thought through. Could the OP be trolling?
Alarmed-Ant4623@reddit
"could OP be trolling....?" or could OP be using a standard acronym for a very well established nature group - https://friendsoftheearth.uk/
what kind of trolling would this even be
Silly_Turtle_452@reddit (OP)
We understand your point! However if you google Foe meaning google will also provide you with Friends of the Earth :)

MK Green party have a monthly social called Green Cafe. You could come along to that and spread the word...
Silly_Turtle_452@reddit (OP)
Oooo yes! We will absolutely have to pop along!

Why just veggie/vegan restaurant/cafe? Seems odd to exclude meat eaters from wanting to enjoy nature - especially if you want the maximum amount of people to help.
Silly_Turtle_452@reddit (OP)
It’s not to exclude it’s largely to support all of our lovely small resultants and cafes in Milton Keynes that don’t get the shout out they deserve due to their name. And there is no pressure to join all of the events. Many people do also eat a varied diet these days with meat free Mondays and “healthier” alternatives being promoted more in restaurants. Who knows you might find a new dish or restaurant you like!
Classic_Peasant@reddit
No thank you, sounds a bit culty.
Unknown_Author70@reddit
Why? Just out of curiosity.
FinchMandala@reddit
Because bacon is his personality.
Unknown_Author70@reddit
I mean. Who doesn't love bacon?
To be fair, I've gone off bacon a bit.. it's the year of the mushroom, I predict.
FinchMandala@reddit
Hopefully this is the year I find Chicken of the Woods!
TH14sBoombox@reddit
Along the Ouse valley you get a lot.

Oh! I found one last year at chichley Hall that they have a public footpath through their grounds and amazing mycology in September. Just in their grounds, I found ink caps, three puffballs! Parasols, honey mushrooms, and the single CoW, but it was on a yew tree, so therefore potentially not great to consume.
FinchMandala@reddit
Lucky! I'm heading on down to Moors Valley in a couple of months, hoping to try my luck there!
Found loads of Trooping Funnels and Amethyst Deceivers in Linford Wood last year; it's full of so many beauties.
Unknown_Author70@reddit
If you go to the back of chichley. It'll be there again in September, right against the very back brick wall Is a yew tree, in their overflow carpark. It was massive last year!
Cool tip! Thanks alot!

I am a meat eater at times but I also love veggie meals too.
I love the idea of your group. Are you also on Nextdoor? You would get a lkt of local coverage there.
Silly_Turtle_452@reddit (OP)
Ooo thank you for the idea! None of us are so we shall get on that now!

Depends on the attitude. There's a difference between being a thoroughly unpleasant and preachy vegan, and just someone who cares about the environment who doesn't patronise meat-eaters. As a meat-eater, I can get on with the second category quite nicely.
