The two-door Ford Bronco V6 got way more expensive for 2025

Taking the Stallantis route I see
peakdecline@reddit
Jeep absolutely drove their prices too high from 2020-2023. But since 2024 they've been either outright lowering MSRPs or significantly increasing standard content and keeping pricing the same.
I know it takes a bit for the market/commentariat to realize changes have been made but Jeep/Stellantis is pretty clearly reworking their lineup and pricing as a result of their sales decreases.
Mimical@reddit
Good.
I'll give it another few years before I check back. At one point I was thinking about a jeep and I hit 50k on a build price so fast I think my Visa almost had a heart attack.
sydney_smirke@reddit
this is crazy, I knew the Stropp Edition was super expensive but they totally took away the cheaper 2 door V6 models?? WTF Ford, that's what made the Bronco cooler than the Wrangler, you could get that turbo V6 2 door for a decent price......
caterham09@reddit
They probably just weren't selling.
piddydb@reddit
The 2.3 4 cylinder is more than enough power for most people in a 4 door model, I just can’t imagine many folks paying the premium in the 2-door. Plus I think it’s only like 30 extra HP, not a huge upgrade for the price.
TookEverything@reddit
The twin turbo V6 feels a lot better on the road, but yeah pretty useless for like 99.9% of the stuff a Bronco is used for.
thatgymdude@reddit
I have rode with someone towing a medium size enclosed trailer carrying motorcycle with a 2 door Bronco. That was a sketchy adventure I do not want to repeat, it wiggled at low speeds and the trailer played games with the handling at highway speeds wandering around anytime the wind touched the trailer. I am shocked Ford gave those a tow rating, maybe the 4 door is better but never again, I told her that we need to use my truck.
fiddlythingsATX@reddit
Wheelbase, yup. Had same in two door jeeps.
thatgymdude@reddit
Towing anything in a 2 door jeep is a literal death wish.
Techun2@reddit
4dr is a longer wheelbase
PuzzleheadedRoyal480@reddit
This sounds like a loading issue
AntalRyder@reddit
That also could have been a factory but a short wheelbase with a wide stance and soft springs will always be sketchy towing.
I disliked towing with my 2dr wrangler for the same reason.
velociraptorfarmer@reddit
Problem is the short wheelbase of the 2 door means that they suck for towing.
SergeantBacon101@reddit
The torque is the difference. a 2.7 V6 bronco feels more smooth and "effortless" accelerating, whereas a 2.3 I4 bronco feels like you have to wring it up to higher RPM's more. Although to your point, the 2.3 in a two door is fine (especially with a manual).
DodgerBlueRobert1@reddit
But you also get an extra 95 lb./ft of torque. That's quite a lot.
BrakkeBama@reddit
I'm callin'n it in. The JD Vans Edition Bronco. Who knows. Maybe down the road it'll end up being the Edsel of our age or the ugly girl no one wanted
BrosenkranzKeef@reddit
But nobody did, which is why they went away. Or perhaps too many people did so ford is just adjusting to high demand. High demand is why the Mav’s price increased so much.
RiftHunter4@reddit
I assume this means the 4-door is selling much better. To be fair, you could use the 4-door as a regular family hauling, do-it-all SUV.
bn25168@reddit
Exactly why I got a 4door non Sasquatch 2.3L Big Bend. It's been the perfect family friendly capable adventure and daily drivable vehicle.
fiddlythingsATX@reddit
Hard or soft top? How’s highway road noise?
penguinchem13@reddit
I have the same thing but in manual
SteveS117@reddit
The take rate for the 2 door is under 10%. Closer to 6% if I remember correctly.
jimbobzz9@reddit
You can use the 2 door as a regular family holiday, SUV do-it-all. Source: me.
PlatinumElement@reddit
I don’t know why you’re getting downvoted, my dad used a 1967 Jaguar E type coupe as our only car for the first 8 months of my life. Leaving the hospital my mom sat in the passenger seat and the nurse put me in my mom’s arms. Europe in the 80’s was cool. Thankfully I didn’t become a baby projectile.
GodsFavoriteDegen@reddit
How am I supposed to get my six children, their car seats, their strollers, their diaper bags, their snack bags, their extra clothes bags, their other snack bag, their water bottles, my snack bag, my spouse, our four dogs, the dogs' snack bags, the dogs' strollers, our burro, two years worth of toilet paper from Costco, three buckets of KFC, a slushie machine, two wall tents, a popup gazebo, my tool chest, the paddle game, the chair, the remote control, and this ashtray into such a small vehicle while towing a boat down an ruggedly undeveloped mountain trail?
I have to do that at least four times a week, and it's critical that any vehicle I select be able to meet all of these requirements.
8N-QTTRO@reddit
have you considered a roof box?
GodsFavoriteDegen@reddit
That's where I keep the lasagna.
Corsair4@reddit
Canyonerrrrroooooooo
SwiftCEO@reddit
You can also use the Miata as a family hauler /s
TheBolognaPony@reddit
Can? Sure, but near as easy or useful? Nope. Just because you can doesn't mean it's particularly adept at it. 2 door vehicles are way more of a pain in the ass as a family car; doubly so if you have kids in car seats, rear facing seats, massive teenagers, or a ton of other reasons.
caterham09@reddit
This is obvious just by what you see on the road. Also it was pretty much common sense that the more practical vehicle would be the sales driver.
C-C-X-V-I@reddit
So seeing mostly 2 doors with a rare 4 door
peakdecline@reddit
This always cracks me up. The "somehow I see the total opposite of what all the actual, objective numbers indicate" crowd is an interesting one for sure.
bestselfnice@reddit
There are definitely specific local metas with this kind of thing though. It's not like every region or city has the same sales splits.

Bruh it's a verb
caterham09@reddit
I'm not sure where you live that you see more of the 2 door than the 4 but it's surprising to hear.
I mean just looking at new ones for sale on the lot, there's 3600 of the 2 doors for sale nationwide and nearly 25,000 of the 4 door.
V8-Turbo-Hybrid@reddit
That’s why new G Wagon being 4D only. Otherwise, it used to have 2D and open top option.
Drzhivago138@reddit
Yes, the take rate is similar to the 4-door vs. 2-door Wrangler.
caterham09@reddit
For anyone who didn't read, basically because they've eliminated some package options, the only way to get a 2 door with the v6 is to buy this new expensive trim package. It's not because they've jumped the price of the regular models a ton, just eliminated some options.
This does bring up a question I've been wondering about for a while though, and it's which Bronco configuration is going to be the most desirable long term.
The coupe is certainly the best looking but least practical, and the v6 would be the superior engine, but also the 4 cylinder is the only engine you can get with a manual. Anyone want to weigh in?
Obviously the raptor will hold the most value, but what configuration of the "normal" bronco is going to be the one to have in 25 years?
Aero06@reddit
A '25 7-speed Badlands Sasquatch 2D is probably going to be the sweet spot for enthusiast desirability in 2050. Ticks pretty much all the options boxes for off-roading, and even though it has the 2.3L, it's a newly updated dual-injected engine that's more tunable, reliable, and about as powerful as the outgoing 2.7L. Either that or a fully optioned 2.7 Wildtrak, First Edition in Lightning Blue, or a Heritage Limited, but the ship has sailed on getting any of those.
peakdecline@reddit
I don't see how a Wildtrak is ever a long term desirable version. The only thing special about it is the stock shocks... which is one of the single easiest modifications you can do. As well long term they'll simply get replaced by use (most people ultimately don't get shocks rebuilt and long term that's likely not the best performance/value option anyway).
The Badlands 2.3L manual *might* get some desirably because it has unique features i.e. the disconnecting sway bar + the manual.
We can look over at Jeep JKs and I don't really see 2-doors being particularly all that much more desirable... even by the so called enthusiasts.
This sub (and well the online crowd) always says "shorter wheelbase is better off-road" but well... that's just not true. Longer and shorter wheelbases have different advantages and I'd argue in this wheelbase range most situations actually favor the longer wheelbase. Particularly those where IFS is itself most beneficial.
DudeWhereIsMyDuduk@reddit
Also because most of the good off-roading and kayaking spots that I need 4WD to get into are at least an hour away from me, the highway bouncyness of the shorter wheelbase mattered to me. I Turo'ed a 2-door Wrangler for a weekend, just couldn't get over the highway ride.
35s and 4-doors, whether Wrangler or Bronco, was where I settled.
Mimical@reddit
Are Bronco's in a good shape to last 25 years?
Noopy9@reddit
I think the auto is superior for off-roading…I like manuals in sports cars and have a manual BMW but opted for the V6+auto in the Bronco and ended up buying a 2 door wildtrak.
AndroidMyAndroid@reddit
The auto Mustang is faster too, but that's not something the manual buyer really gives a single fuck about, not to mention the fact that approximately 0% of Bronco buyers will be using them in any sort of timed events.
Sea-Replacement-8794@reddit
I have the same question- I love the look of the 2-door, massively prefer a manual transmission and would always want a 6-cylinder over a 4-cylinder. But it seems like the popular selling models are the exact opposite of this. I find it puzzling
Dramatic-Bottle2440@reddit
You find it puzzling that the general population wants the exact opposite of what this sub “claims” (because they never actually BUY new) they want? I mean that’s literally been the theme of this sub since day 1.
Hence all manual wagons for sale here.
BlackDS@reddit
2 door manual base w sasquatch
sydney_smirke@reddit
I feel like the 2 door versions with the big motor tend to have extra cachet for collectors, like the Land Rover Defender 90 V8 right now......the impracticality is part of what makes it special, kinda like a roadster two seater. I could see the 2 door Bronco V6 being a hot commodity down the road especially if they're gonna stop making them....
AwesomeBantha@reddit
I think the 2 door I4 manual will be the most desirable
DocPhilMcGraw@reddit
This kind of tells me exactly the reason they did this: there was no real demand there. The only information I can find online is from 2021 (which was around the same time Broncos were just coming out and probably at the height of their popularity) that says that around 25-30% of all Bronco sales are for the 2-door version while the rest are for the 4-door version. Considering that stat is from when the Broncos were just coming out, this leads me to believe that perhaps that percentage dropped since that time. And we have to consider that is for ALL 2-doors, not just the V6.
Plus a very non-scientific look at Autotrader shows that there are currently around 1400 new 2-door Broncos with the V6 nationwide right now. A lot of them are going for several thousand off MSRP. So those that are upset over this can grab a great deal right now on a 2-door Bronco V6. There's even this one that is supposedly marked $10k off.
Astramael@reddit
As a rule the auto-buying public buys the more expensive option nearly every time they are presented with that choice.
We see it with the Bronco, the trim that enthusiasts like is the 4cyl manual, but that virtually doesn’t sell. The sales driver is the 6cyl auto 4-door. Even though it’s significantly more expensive. But I have seen it with many other cars too.
Time and time again the cheap stripped model doesn’t sell units, and the expensive loaded one does. So manufacturers make and sell mainly or exclusively the expensive one.
SteveS117@reddit
Take rate for the 2 door is around 6% now
JournalistExpress292@reddit
Even with $10K off its $50,000 + ?!?!?!!!
Aero06@reddit
It escaped public notice because Ford, for whatever reason, botched any sort of public announcement for the 2025MY updates, which include a revised dual-injected 2.3 I4 that makes more power and torque, a redesigned LED gauge cluster, and a pretty stark axing of options and trims including Black Diamond and Wildtrak. You'd think a new, more powerful engine might've been big news, Ford didn't even officially announce it, the information was found in a dealership service department notice when new 25's started showing up on the lots.
DocPhilMcGraw@reddit
I'm not seeing the increase in power you are talking about on Ford's website. It still shows 300 HP for the 2.3L engine.
Aero06@reddit
Like I said, they made no announcement to the engine change at all so I wouldn't trust the figures until it can be dyno tested compared to a '24 2.3. Dual injection gives a lot more room for tuning and a lot more potential for power, not to mention eliminates soot buildup liable to occur in a direct injection engine, if it makes the same power that means they've deliberately detuned it for the sake of emissions/fuel economy, not out of the question since Ford downgraded the Ecoboost Mustang from 330hp to 315hp this year.
magikarpet_ride@reddit
The Mustang also got the new dual injection engine (and I believe the Explorer as well). If I remember right, the loss of rated power is due to adding a gas particulate filter in the Mustang. Same thing happened to the 25 Maverick vs the 24.
Not surprised that Ford didn’t publicize the engine update. It’s very technical for no obvious difference for the average customer.
MechMeister@reddit
Word is getting around on the problems with the V6. So only people with more money than brains are buying them.
Lynch31337@reddit
What problems?
MechMeister@reddit
Wet belt, turbo failures
Techun2@reddit
Source?
Lynch31337@reddit
That’s wildly disappointing. They’ve been doing these turbos for 10+ years you’d think they’d have worked out the kinks.
If only Ford offered the 5.0 in the Bronco
Designatedrhythm@reddit
Ford fumbled the Bronco launch and execution so poorly. I had every intention of purchasing one when they were announced.
The delays. The dealer mark ups. The insane increases in price. No V8 option still. The reliability/recalls. Wind noise. No metal/body black painted roof for years. All the special editions being near 80k. 3500 tow limit (should have been 5k)
I quickly lost interest.
turboash78@reddit
I remember when these were first announced / sold the CAD price was like $35 for the base 2 door.
theanswar@reddit
“you're not getting into a 2025 Bronco V6 2-Door for less than $75,635 plus fees” - the article goes on to state it’s a 61% increase
saturnuranusmars@reddit
Didn't even know that was a thing. Looks like a clown car
Smart-As-Duck@reddit
Man I wish the V6 came with a stick.
Have been heavily debating getting the 2 door with a manual.
BootyWizardAV@reddit
these price increases have been crazy. I got my 2 door wildtrak in 2022, and with options like the sasquatch, lux package, and factory tow hitch, my msrp was still under 60k.
Mountain-Taro-123@reddit
no shit sherlock read the fucking news
UnnamedStaplesDrone@reddit
this vehicle has so many damn trim options its kinda crazy.
OkDirection8015@reddit
Broncos were already overpriced to begin.
skydiver1958@reddit
Add 25%.
PBandC_NIG@reddit
Why would anybody buy a Ford with how much contempt they've shown towards their customers recently? They've jacked up prices for no reason other than fuck you, they're always being recalled, and what for?
BinaryStrigoi@reddit
I feel so lucky having picked up mine at the tail end of MY23. Back then it’s a coin flip whether your order gets scheduled for production. For ‘24 they discontinued the 2dr for the outer banks trim as well as the color I chose (Area 51). For ‘25 they are restricting the 2dr models even further.
autist_93_@reddit
2 door 4 cylinder with the tune is plenty fast
caterham09@reddit
Also tunable if you need more power for whatever reason
krombopulousnathan@reddit
And you can also add a tune
juicytootnotfruit@reddit
Everything got more expensive. Literally everything.
sydney_smirke@reddit
The base trim is cheaper for 2025 by like $1500, not much consolation but there it is....so technically the 2025 Bronco is "cheaper" than 2024 because it starts lower
dont_ama_73@reddit
its a bold move cotton. see if it pans out..
