Any recc’s?
I’m looking for a cosy, more quiet pub for a first date, probably more around the outskirts of town rather than centre. Thank you!

BROTHER.
Take her to The Admiral Nelson in Braunston, little village passed Daventry on the A45, it's gorgeous with amazing food and affordable drinks right next to the canal.
Take the trip.

I like the Old Beams but it's a dog friendly pub so if you don't like dogs give it a miss

Wavendon Arms is nice and has a cozy area/room opposite the bar

The Plough in Simpson. Never had a bad meal there, the atmosphere is good, and you have a stroll along the canal or walk through Woughton Park before/after.
Parking isn’t always easy though.

The Old Red Lion Great Brickhill has amazing views, but it is not open on Monday/Tuesday.

The Swan in Salford is a hidden gem, nice atmosphere, good menu and the specials are always great.

I don’t think they let you in unless you arrive in a Range Rover Evoque and show the door staff a picture of your Live, Laugh, Love mural.

I really like the prince George. Great food, great service, lovely atmosphere etc. it can get busy, but I've found it's actually still pretty quiet when it is! It's a newer pub, so you won't necessarily get that old pub charm but it still feels incredibly cosy. Not too bright, the decor is sort of.. rustic? Is that the right word? Lol, and the chairs are VERY comfortable ᵕ̈

I'd go for either pub in Woolstone or even the Black Horse in Great Linford. They have some nice cosy corners.

Sorry should have clarified; not intending to drink drink just wanted to find somewhere that had a nice atmosphere/surrounding as I’m new to MK!
Thanks for the advice :)

The Cross Keys is pretty good and actually in MK.

The Netherfield Tavern is a hidden gem. Ask for the wine list and tapas menu at the bar.

Long closed I'm afraid.

The Crooked Billet, Newton Longville, just past Bletchley is lovely.

If it's outskirts you're looking for the Swan in Woburn Sands is fairly nice inside and every time I've been in there it's been quite a chill atmosphere with low noise levels. (They've been redecorating the outside lately but I can't recall if they were also redoing the interior) Can't speak to their menu as I haven't tried their food but it looked interesting last time I saw it.
The Cross Keys in Woolstone and the Swan Inn in Middleton are also both decent and have a small village vibe.

The Cross Keys in Woolstone and The Swan Inn in Middleton are interesting anomalies for MK pubs. They're both village pubs but both villages are inside Milton Keynes proper so you get a best of both worlds; easy to get to but fairly relaxed with it.
If you actually leave MK, the Swan at Salford, the Bull in Olney and the Anchor in Aspley Guise are all nice too.

Black Horse, Great Linford. If the weather is nice then sit outside next to the canal.
mediocrityindepth@reddit
It's nice pub but the insistence on table service makes me irrationally annoyed with it.

Depends how far/drinking as I wouldn't recommend drink and drive!

You could try the Ye olde swan at Woughton on the green, very cosy, low ceiling and old exposed beams.

Red Lion in fenny, on the lock. Beautiful little spot, go for a walk along the canal after.

The Three Locks. The Navigation Inn, on station road. My two favourites for something to eat and a couple of drinks that isn't in town.
