YouTube is a fucking hellhole of unreliability, and anyone using it to justify their point only manages to discredit anything they have to say on the matter. The only thing YouTube brings to the table is the immediate ability to tell whether or not someone actually knows what the fuck they're talking about.

It was actually an upgrade pack based on the US Military Cessna O-2, which is an upgraded/militarized Cessna 337.

It's a proper military package that was pretty common around Africa in the 60s/70s.

Most of the kit was copied from the military Cessna O-2 Skymaster, which was a slightly upgraded 337 (mainly by adding more windows for extra visibility), which was used for observation and fire-support by the US Air Force/Navy/Army in Vietnam and elsewhere.
Basically: drop seating from 6 to 2 (pilot + observer), add more windows to the doors and a bubble window for the observer, weapons pylons under the wings, replace the standard tanks with self-sealing models and, if you're fancy, add fire retardant systems.
It's 0% Mad Max, it's actually a very well designed and thought-out setup, and basically as soon as Cessna offered the O-2 for consumption all of its subcontractors started offering the 0-2 setup as a military upgrade package for the 337 Super Skymaster, and as a result a metric fuckton of countries in Africa and South America used the Cessna 337 as a military plane, for observation or fire support.
Rhodesia used them because they were cheap to buy, cheap to run and the airframes weren't under sanctions, being civilian light plane.
