Hello, this summer break me, my long distance girlfriend and a few of our friends are planning a trip throughout my country (montenegro) and im really trying to make the flight as cheap as possible because her dad will barr her from going if its too expensive
We need a flight from anywhere in the area around Connecticut to anywhere near Montenegro (Tirana, podgorica, dubrovnik, sarajevo and prishtina are doable)
We need it from 1st of august to the 18th sadly we cant be flexible with the dates because of the limited time window i can get to be with them
I dont know how cheap the tickets can be in other months rn its around 800€ per person for a round trip
So if you guys can help me see if i can get the price even lower itd be a life saver! Thank you in forward!

Fly from JFK to any airport in London using Norse air, usually Rome or London. Then find cheap Ryanair tickets to your desired lcostion

You’re checking too early. Pricing goes down when You’re within 3 months away from the flight dates.

Figure out which destinations have cheap bus or train tickets to where you’re trying to go, then check the flights to those destinations.

I took a look at low cost carrier flights. Usually they would be much cheaper, but your problem is this is the part of the year when airplane seats are full and you need the airlines more than they need you. They simply are not going to sell you a seat for less than other people would pay for it. Your only option is to save or get another job.

What about Boston to Belgrade and then Bus to Montengro? I found one on Google Flights for 617 CHF + Bus who are probably 40 CHF each

You want to look for tickets along main trunk routes where there is lots of competition, like JFK to LHR OR CDG or FCO, so London or Paris or Rome, and then for a budget airline, probably wizzair because it’s Eastern Europe from there to the balkans.
You especially want to look at discount transatlantic carriers like Norse air, level and perhaps French bee. Flights between major cities are a lot more competitive than flights between boutique destinations like say Houston to Oslo.

OP, I did a few Google Flights searches on this out of curiosity. There are very few options that were significantly under 800 Euros ($863), and they all have long flight times with extended layovers.
$741, Boston to Tirana with 7h25m layover on the way out and 6h45m layover on the way back in Istanbul: https://www.google.com/travel/flights/s/LBEcaxGWcLA956ak7
$693 JFK (NYC) to Sarajevo with 8h45m layover in Frankfurt on the way out, 9h55m layover in Zurich and 3h15m layover in Geneva on the way back: https://www.google.com/travel/flights/s/fwaeN2bwRXVHCsa98
$746, JFK (NY) to Tirana, 4h5m layover on the way out and 4h30m layover on the way back in Istanbul: https://www.google.com/travel/flights/s/vo1QgYHd4hSfxr5d6

That is a good price for this city pair with no date flexibility. Maybe you can take on a side job during weekends for the next couple months to offset the cost of the flight?
