Javier Milei has done colossal damage to libertarianism.

Javier Milei is a creation of the Argentine media, the brainchild of a millionaire crony allied with the state named Eduardo Eurnekian.
This man is completely removed from the libertarian worldview/philosophy. The only thing Milei has achieved is to make those who at some point stopped believing in representative democracy believe in it again.
There is a lot of corruption in the Libertarian Party in Argentina (La Libertad avanza).
La Libertad avanza is a political party full of Kirchnerist politicians. Javier Milei's political party is a mixture of Kirchnerism/Peronism and Macrism.
Economically, it is not liberal either. It has significantly increased taxes in Argentina. It is implementing socialist measures such as price controls on the exchange rate, making my country one of the most expensive on the planet. Inflation in our currency has dropped, but it hasn't been able to do so completely. Inflation in dollars is very high. The official inflation index (INDEC) is manipulated, just as all governments in this country have done.
They are slowly encouraging the elimination of cash to implement digital money (CBDC)
We're going through a severe economic recession.
Javier Milei is completely inconsistent with libertarian principles (I mean, doesn't a libertarian president seem strange to you? What's next? A fire that wets?).
Many things are happening in my country, and they're not good at all. Unfortunately, in Argentina, there are very few true libertarians. Those who support Milei are right-wing conservatives with high levels of fascism.
This entire libertarian state project (my God, how incongruous that is) is going to end badly. The only thing Javier Milei and his fanatics will achieve is for libertarianism to become a dirty word and considered a failure. Sooner or later, the left will govern here again with the entire state apparatus empowered by this government. A more radical left than ever will return.
Javier Milei is a total farce, and it seems he hasn't read or understood libertarianism. The damage he's done to libertarian philosophy is enormous, and few of us are aware of it.
There are many things you probably don't know because you need to know Spanish. If you understand Spanish or can use an AI to translate videos, go see Diego Giacomini. Diego Giacomini was the one who introduced Milei to libertarianism, but they ended their friendship when JM decided to get into politics.
Don't trust this sionist crazy ass man.
Greetings, an Argentine libertarian who is seeing how everything is inevitably going to hell again.

I’m going to reply to you in English, so everyone here understands. I’m an Argentinian too, and though I don’t see myself as a hardcore libertarian, I expected from you, being an Argentinian, that decades of economic destruction cannot be fixed in a year and a half. I will try to be brief (no promises though).
1) He is not the “brainchild” of Eurnekian. Is strange you say this, since Eurnekian has critiqued Milei multiple times, and he is clearly not ok with more economic liberties and a more competitive market. Milei did work for him for many years, and he has been polite with him despite his constant criticism. That doesn’t sound like a “brainchild” to me.
2) If he is a true, pure libertarian, that I don’t know. And I honestly don’t care. In less than a year and a half, the guy lowered inflation (true, 2,4 monthly inflation is high, but during previous administrations was far worse, funny that you don’t mention that…) He also lowered poverty and insecurity in general. There is a long, long road to go through. He has no governors, no mayors, and barely any legislative power, and yet he is fighting against the odds well, from enemies and from within. He is constrained by the politicians, syndical unions that march against him because he is cutting off their money, and the media who attack him almost non stop because he is not giving them money either. You can’t seriously expect Milei, or you, or me, to fix such a wrecked economy in a year and a half, it’s insanity.
I don’t care if Dumbo the elephant is my president. If Dumbo lowers inflation, poverty and insecurity, opens us to the world, and does all of this despite how complicated things are, I would vote for Dumbo happily. It’s called pragmatism.
3) Though saying that his political party is “corrupt” is an exaggeration, it is true that it has a decent amount of incompetent or even traitorous people. However, must I remind you that La Libertad Avanza had to be formed as quickly as possible? They didn’t have the luxury to pick pure libertarians… because they are so few of them. Or would you rather allowed the other political parties, the same ones who ruined our country, to win the elections again? No thank you, u rather have Milei.
4) He increased some taxes at the start, but has significantly reduced them, not to mention the regulations he has either eliminated and quelled. And you can only truly lower taxes by the legislature, and guess what? He has no control of it. Blame the politicians, not Milei. Where have you been these last 20 years, my dude?
5) They are not promoting the elimination of physical cash. They are giving you options. OPTIONS. This is a non point anyway. Never heard anyone complaining about this.
6) Our economy is by no means in a good position, and we have to make a lot of reforms to get out of the hole we are, but again, you truly expect to become a super power in a year and a half? Also, what proof do you have that the INDEC is being manipulated? And where were you been the last 20 years, again? We literally have a guy called Guillermo Moreno that was condemned (not jailed) for doing exactly that. A Peronist, the same guys who destroyed our economy.
7) Conservative support? From who? Two people at most? Fascism? The last time I checked, fascist love to control people, in fact, they are quite the opposite to a libertarian. I don’t see people jailing or killing people that oppose him, or saying that Argentinians are superior than anyone else, or controlling the economy himself. Either you are brainwashed leftist, or you are trolling. I’m being serious here, no sarcasm, I genuinely don’t know what you are even talking about.
8) Diego Giacomini was with Milei from the beginning, yes. I don’t about him introducing the libertarian ideals to Milei, so I won’t challenge you on that. However, he is either envious or jealous of the success that Milei had, since he attacks him constantly, going on TV channels that are clearly biased in favor of, you guessed it, peronists and leftists. Instead of helping him, he is pointing the finger at him and saying: “You are dumb, and I’m smart!”, all he does is complain. At least Milei managed to become President despite the odds.
So, to finish this, I must ask again… where were you the last 20 years? Were you this harsh with Alberto Fernandez? With Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner? With Sergio Massa? Those three, plus dozens of others, destroyed our economy, our culture, our society. They are at fault for why things are so hard right now, and the reason why it’s taking so long to recover.
If you truly thought that Milei could fix EVERYTHING wrong with our country in a year and a half, with no governors and no control of congress, you are legitimately insane.
The opposition doesn’t want to fix our problems. They want this to fail, so they can return and continue to steal from us, to do everything that you criticize Milei for, only that they already did all of that.
I can understand a foreigner not understanding our past or how we got here in the first place, but from an Argentinian? I’m disappointed.

These are the kind of people I'm talking about in the post, fanatics can't get out of the political narrative, each of their points are refutable because they are simply telling lies or omitting data such as inflation in dollars, something I already mentioned in the post but they seem to ignore on purpose in an attempt to defend the leader, some of your arguments are purely childish and emotional (like the one about Diego Giacomini), time will prove me right, Milei is failing and will fail because reformism simply does not work, I hope that the failure of the charlatan we have as president turns you into a true libertarian, but for that you need to study and educate yourself, do not stay with what the liar who lives contradicting himself said
Maximus_Comitatense@reddit
Why do I bother writing a lot if disingenuous people like you are going to ignore 90% of my points and focus on a point I didn’t even make?
Write everything in English too, this is an English sub.
Well, if you think you are a true libertarian and Milei is a fake one, then go ahead, tiger, make your own political party, win the next elections and prove to me how libertarian are you. Oh, and let’s see how you handle the opposition trying to hobble you every single day, burning the streets, having no governors or legislative power, reduce poverty, inflation and crime in record. You wouldn’t last a day. I wouldn’t last a day either, but at least I’m humble enough to recognize it.
Even if I you are “true” libertarian (I personally doubt it) you wouldn’t be able to accomplish even half of what Milei is doing.
If you do make your own political party and want to be the first “true” libertarian president, go for it, don’t let me stop you. Go ahead. Good luck banging your head against the deep state and having to deal with their bullshit.
Comprehensive_Run405@reddit (OP)
Are we still doing the same thing?
Libertarian political party, libertarian president, dry water, wet fire, clean dirt.
Do you seriously not realize how ignorant you are about liberalism? Or are you trolling?
Maximus_Comitatense@reddit
Sure, sure, make your own political party, win the elections, and transform Argentina into a libertarian paradise. That’s a good way to prove to me how libertarian are you. Good luck.
Comprehensive_Run405@reddit (OP)
💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀
Maximus_Comitatense@reddit
That’s a no then? What a shame.
Better luck next time, “true libertarian”.
Heisenburgo@reddit
Don't mind him. Bro had to resort to droppin emojis cause he was absolutely destroyed LMAOOO
Imaginary-Win9217@reddit
You can't minimize government without being within such a government.
ILikeBumblebees@reddit
And here I was giving Alicia and Norberto Milei the credit.
Jcbm52@reddit
Javier Milei has clearly read and understood liberalist authors. You can see any of his lessons in economy, the most famous maybe "desenmascarando la mentira keynesiana", the man clearly understands not only Austrian economics but also Keynesian economics. There is no way to fake that level of understanding. Also, libertarians who don't believe in the state at all are probably a minority, Hayek or Mises are examples of that, s libertarian president is not necessarily an oxymoron.
Also inflation in dollars is an intended consequence of closing the exchange rate gap, something Milei has to do in order to close the Central Bank without causing hyperinflation. I don't get exactly what the problem is with inflation in dollars, I believe it is more significant to ensure inflation goes down and the exchange rate gap closes, whether we have inflation in dollars or not is a matter of how fast we get to a goal relative to the other. Can you elaborate on this part and maybe show me your data?

Since other people already refuted your propaganda, the only thing I'm going to say is LLORA KUKARDO.
Grand-Expression-783@reddit
>NOOOOOOOOOO IGNORE EVERYTHING HE'S ACTUALLY BAD
Is this really the best you can do?
Nahdalor2@reddit
No tenes idea de lo que estas hablando amigo
Bottom_Line_Truths@reddit
Fake. Your post says nothing of substance. Your whole Reddit history is dedicated to posts hating on Milei. Take your propaganda elsewhere.
Maximus_Comitatense@reddit
He is either very confused, lying or a troll. The desperation must be high, since if our economy recovers, the opposition has little chance of returning to power and stealing our money again. Not even a year and a half has passed, yet this person expects every single problem to be fixed, yet Milei has no governors or the legislative muscle to make it happen.
Comprehensive_Run405@reddit (OP)
Lmao, how naive the fanatics are...
Yes i'm a lying troll!! XDD
Comprehensive_Run405@reddit (OP)
WTF, I literally live in Argentina. I'm neither left-wing nor right-wing. I'm a libertarian. If you see me constantly arguing with my fellow countrymen, it's because they're blinded by fanaticism.
You'll never see any of my comments defending politicians. I'll never vote again. The only time I voted was in 2019 for Espert.
But if you want to keep believing I'm a bot or a closet leftist, keep believing that. Keep believing in lying politicians like Milei. You fake libertarian.
Bottom_Line_Truths@reddit
Ok Mr. Real Libertarian, which of his policies do you disagree with? What would you do differently as a “real libertarian”?
Comprehensive_Run405@reddit (OP)
I put it in the post, but it seems you didn't read it well or don't understand the texts. I'll repeat it again. You remind me of Milei's fanatics who don't understand the philosophy they claim to defend.
Empowerment of the state's coercive power, tax increases, corruption, price controls, a greater fight against drugs, and the most important thing, which you don't seem to understand: HE'S A POLITICIAN, HE LIVES OFF OUR TAXES, HE LIVES OFF THE WORK OF OTHERS.
Go read more. I recommend Lysander Spooner, Murray Rothbard (he has some bad points; try to differentiate the bad points, like the sale of children that M.R. proposed), Samuel Konkin III. Learn what agorism is and why reformism and attempts like the current neo-conservative Zionist Milei are a scam and harm the liberal movement.
Read, brother, read.
