Wish me luck boys 🍻
AdJazzlike3404@reddit
Love the two tone
shartymcqueef@reddit (OP)
Agreed! Yours looks great 😎
AdJazzlike3404@reddit
Thank you!!!
Muted_Reflection_449@reddit
Being German I can't even imagine that distance (... in kilometers! ....), leave alone that trip!
To do it in that beauty is worthy of a motion picture ❗😀
Have a great journey, stay safe❗🙏🏼
RedArrow23@reddit
it’s so funny to hear europeans say something like it’s not possible to visit my grandparents they live 200 miles away
young_skywalk3r@reddit
And to Americans, 200 years is a long time.
RedArrow23@reddit
it is?
twalker294@reddit
My coworkers all live in Malaysia. A few months ago I was talking to one of them about visiting my daughter and he asked how long it would take to get there. I told him about 7 1/2 hours and that blew his mind.
RedArrow23@reddit
i’ve driven 7 hours round trip just to pick up parts lol. crazy how far you can go and probably stay in the same state
irideadirtbike@reddit
I live in southwest Michigan. I went to college in the northwest of Michigan. 11hr drive all in the same state
Muted_Reflection_449@reddit
You must be kidding.
cyprinidont@reddit
And you cross a bridge over one of the largest freshwater lakes in the world along that voyage, and enter an entirely different landmass. But you're still in the same state.
Muted_Reflection_449@reddit
I am 55 years old and never been that much abroad, leaves alone in the US (though I could visit relatives in Houston and Tacoma....).
That... vastness might be the single most appealing feature beside bikes, cars and cuisine (... 😬...) to make me travel.... 🤔
cyprinidont@reddit
And this is just the Midwest where it's relatively dense. Not even comparable to sparseness of the western side of the state. You could drive 100 miles without seeing another vehicle on the road.
No_Substance5280@reddit
There is a hwy in Michigans U.P. called the Seney Stretch 40 miles of no houses, crossroads, driveways. Just a straight road through wilderness
Muted_Reflection_449@reddit
I know that statement in some variations. None of which I can imagine even remotely! 😬😒😊
RedArrow23@reddit
yup. florida panhandle to miami is about that far
fafafooie69@reddit
Found this out in college. Went to Panama City for spring break (9.5 hour drive one way) with the intention of staying 2 nights and making our way to Miami the next day. We didn’t realize Panama City was the halfway point of the trip. Noped the fuck out of that idea at St. Pete’s beach when we finally got the bright idea to look at a map. Hungover road trips aren’t fun.
RedArrow23@reddit
haha. i’m from that area so i know exactly what you mean. whenever someone visits they always ask if we can make miami a day trip. uhhhh no. best i can do is tallahassee
fafafooie69@reddit
It was brutal. We made it to Clearwater the first day and decided it was time for some hair of the dog so we set up shop. The nausea and headache came earlier the next so we stopped at St Pete and finally checked how far away we were. That was the end of the drive. Had great nights in both of those towns though!
lovepontoons@reddit
My nephews play hockey and a team from St. Louis is in his league. Weekend trips from Chicago area 5.5/6hr so half your time but we do it like once every couple months. Sometimes it’s just 1 so it’s go down Friday play Saturday drive back home.
SiliconGhosted@reddit
Northern Michigan university?
irideadirtbike@reddit
Michigan Tech
rcook55@reddit
Texas. I drove my mother across Texas a couple years ago, I'm used to long drives but I can go from Des Moines, Iowa to Denver, Co. faster than you can cross Texas.
interests_are_random@reddit
I literally did this yesterday, 7 hours and 44 minutes round trip to pick up an engine.
Muted_Reflection_449@reddit
JESUS❗ What state is that? 😳
thescartographer@reddit
Tennessee, Florida, Texas, and California are all long enough you could easily do it. Fun fact, the northeast tip of Tennessee (Mountain City) is closer to Canada than it is to the southwest tip of Tennessee (Memphis) and Memphis is closer to Mexico than it is to Mountain City
Muted_Reflection_449@reddit
😳❗
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼❗😊
_mrLeL_@reddit
7 hours road trip here is multiple countries, crazy
TorontoBiker@reddit
When I was a kid we would do this drive 3 or 4 times a year. https://maps.app.goo.gl/nC2jznVEJx8Brvxn7?g_st=ic
Usually over two days.
Grambo-47@reddit
I feel that. I’ve done about 10k miles in an RV along the west coast, the northernmost mile marker in CA is 799 iirc. California is approximately 800 miles end to end, Hilt to San Ysidro. From San Diego, it’s 3 hours to Los Angeles, 8 or 9 hours to the Bay Area, 12 hours to Redding, about 16 hours to the Oregon border.
Urbi3006@reddit
He was exaggerating a bit. 1300miles is definitely a long way but it's only about 1/4 across Europe. Germany alone is a about 600miles tall.
MangoAtrocity@reddit
Lol I'm about to drive 350 miles to visit my grandmother and we live in the same state.
Upstairs-Ladder@reddit
I grew up visiting my grandparents a couple times a year. 700-mile drive each way
RedArrow23@reddit
same here. the road trip is such a big part of our culture
The3rdbaboon@reddit
I don’t know what that guys talking about. I live in Ireland and my wife is polish. We’ve driven from Ireland to Poland and back many times. Every summer hundreds of thousands of people from Scandinavia drive thousands of miles south to Spain and Portugal for the summer. There’s nothing unusual about long road trips.
themanseanm@reddit
Worth noting as well that for every American who regularly does 1000+ mile road trips, there are plenty more who have never left their small town.
FesteringNeonDistrac@reddit
I have driven across the US, but also find a 15 minute drive to Home Depot a pain I try and avoid.
Muted_Reflection_449@reddit
Oh yes there is.
ThrownAway_1999@reddit
I used to live in Louisiana, and would drive home to my family on occasion. 18 hours, plus stops for naps, food, and gas.
Muted_Reflection_449@reddit
So true, compared to what you do❗😂
mutantsofthemonster@reddit
Do you never go outside Germany? It’s the same distance as Rome - Madrid or Stockholm - Paris.
Muted_Reflection_449@reddit
I'm getting into the Netherlands frequently, Belgium sometimes, and I've been to the UK a few times, so I do go outside. I've been to Norway by bike, but getting there it broke down and I had to return...
But even the distance to, say Paris from my home - just under 500 Kilometres or 300 miles - takes too much out of me to really enjoy it....
quandjereveauxloups@reddit
Deleted my other comment because it didn't actually show the route, sorry about that. But I drove from Virginia Beach, Virginia to Dinuba, California in 3 days. Then about a week after, drove from Dinuba down to Los Angeles, California, then across to Virginia Beach in 2 3/4 days.
I was visiting family on that trip.
Muted_Reflection_449@reddit
.... no comment.... 😳
quandjereveauxloups@reddit
It was a fun drive. I want to do it again, but on a motorcycle. Although, I want to take more time with it. I'm not young enough to drive those hours anymore.
Muted_Reflection_449@reddit
Time ist crucial of course.
There was a campaign in Germany in the .... 70s I wanna say, that stressed "Reisen statt Rasen", roughly something like "travel instead of racing". Imo, from that time onward this hast become nearly impossible and thus unpopular, due to increasingly dense (and fast!} traffic -and pretty short distances.
There was people that we're proud to do the 1000 mile stint to Portugal or the entire trip to the east or Turkey in one go....
quandjereveauxloups@reddit
I would have loved to have taken more time back then, but I was in the military, and on leave. Less time on the road meant more time with my family.
I wouldn't do that now, of course. I couldn't keep myself awake that well, and I'm a little bit smarter now.
I like that saying, traveling is much nicer. At least for longer trips :p.
Muted_Reflection_449@reddit
Strange how you know what things to leave to the young.... ☺️
Johnnyhellhole@reddit
Corvette.... Spring?
quandjereveauxloups@reddit
Ready to get your mind blown? I made this trip in 3 days, and this trip in 2 3/4 days, about a week after the first one.
Not for work, just visiting family.
Boilermakingdude@reddit
I drove S550 almost 2000km the first week I had it. Lol.
cocainebane@reddit
Flew to SFO and brought a Subaru wagon down the coast on PCH/101. Only like 650km but it was a blast.
Eagle5788@reddit
Is it just me or did that Owner create a checkered flag by removing ceiling tiles? Hillbilly deluxe right there
shartymcqueef@reddit (OP)
🤣 I didn’t even notice it when I was there
KittiesRule1968@reddit
Is it crossfire injection equipped?
Mediocre-Catch9580@reddit
Drove 24 hours straight from mid Ohio to Key West, Fla. 1,300 miles. Slept for two days after that.
WickPrickSchlub@reddit
You are gonna get cooked in that thing. Literally baked. My feet are sweating just thinking about it. Cool car though, four speed makes it for sure.
LexusGee31@reddit
Have fun 🔥!
BassKitty305017@reddit
Watch Corvette Summer first.
direcheetah4579@reddit
I will never understand brown corvettes.
Strong_Trade8549@reddit
Sweet car - terrible MPG - you might need to take out a loan for gas but have fun!
fishnski128@reddit
My neighbor growing up drove a very similar corvette!
The_Ostrich_you_want@reddit
Always found c3s super comfy but I’m a rail thin person. Enjoy. It’ll likely get warm inside. The trans tunnel doesn’t have very good heat dissipation.
shartymcqueef@reddit (OP)
Put 3.5hrs down today. I’m not thin, about 225 and 5’11 but I was very comfortable. Seats were leaned back in a comfortable position and there was plenty of leg room. I drove my Viper from Cali to FL last year and I’d say this vette is more comfortable than that. Though the handling, steering, engine and transmission are 100x worse
unkibunki@reddit
Cool car but I can’t imagine how squeaky that trip home will be…
InResponse23@reddit
Haha, and how stiff his back is gonna be. ☠️
Building_Everything@reddit
Nothing like a nice slow drive across the country lmao
evileagle@reddit
Not a bad look, but you’re not wrong. They ain’t fast.
InResponse23@reddit
And after hour threw, you are going to FEEL that seat and suspension. I'm not jealous of the trip, haha.
InResponse23@reddit
God you are going to be effing sore when you get home.
Grand_Association984@reddit
That thing is super sweet! Hope you have a safe and uneventful drive!
Squanchmonster@reddit
Noctua edition Vette! Nice!
Quintyyyy@reddit
Hell yeah, congratulations. Hope everything goes well and you have a blast, that should be one trip to remember for sure
Kip-ft@reddit
Heck yeah dude. Trans tunnel might get a little warm just a heads up.
nasalgoat@reddit
I've driven two C3s home from the US to Canada and both died on route. Good luck.
Ok_Chocolate3253@reddit
Pick up a pack of Marlboros for the trip
Kiteboarder1980@reddit
You better have a moustache.
bobbyhillischill@reddit
Looks awesome
dankhimself@reddit
Whoa it's got cloth seats. GM made the best cloth seats, most comfortable easy.
monkeysthrowingfeces@reddit
Didn't know there was a Noctua edition of the Corvette. Slick.
cocainebane@reddit
Thought this was the r/granturismo sub for a sec.
ODBEIGHTY1@reddit
What year is that?
DriftMiata@reddit
Gorgeous
theshiyal@reddit
That color combo is pretty sweet. I love it. Looks like a root beer float.
Primary-Space@reddit
Beautiful Corvette! I hope you're keeping the original paint and interior because they both look practically brand new.
RandomToker2018@reddit
So exciting!!! Good luck!
DefinedMadness@reddit
Should be fun. A decent roadworthy rescue you could say
azimov_the_wise@reddit
Beautiful! Be sure to blast some good music and take advantage of the spirit of the radio on the open road!
lemmys_wart@reddit
Hell yes
No-Farm-2376@reddit
Don’t molest it!
iliketoredditbaby@reddit
Fly drives are fun!
andiamo12@reddit
Looks nice. Bring tools and spares and a little luck.
Huskerdu4u@reddit
Good luck! 🤘🏻👍
prairie-man@reddit
I have done this several times - and it is the best adventure ever.
OP: Enjoy every minute of your road trip. Where does this adventure begin and where is your destination ? Have fun.
gonefishing53@reddit
Sounds like a great adventure! Please keep us updated.
TBIrehab@reddit
Love the brown twotone
v8packard@reddit
No kidding. I worked for a guy that had one in those cars. Though an automatic. Best of luck to you.
