Does anyone know how often these typically come in stock? I had one in my cart to checkout later and by the time I came back it was sold out (I should have expected that)
91bigdog@reddit
They got the BLEM 16" BFH ELW in-stock right and BLEM 14.5" Standard https://bravocompanyusa.com/ar15-upper-receiver-groups/cosmetic-blem-upper-groups/
Killerofthecentury@reddit
If I was still looking at complete uppers from BCM this would have been an absolute steal. Whoever got this is absolutely a lucky duck
TaeTwoTimes@reddit
You can get DD 14.5 for this on sale non blem
Significant_Brick_95@reddit
Am i crazy or at one point where bcms like 550-650 for blem uppers? At this point i feel like theres more enticing options at the same price points.
Trope360@reddit
A lot of people don't understand the differences on BCM uppers, where things like the MK2 upper, BFH (chrome lined bore and chamber), and the included BCG are things that tend to differ on lower priced deals that don't really mean everything here is equal apples to apples.
DD tends to be lacking BCG, quad rail with FSB 🤢 I'd take this many times over that, personally.
lennyxiii@reddit
I’ve gotten two or three of the CDs now with the RIS2 and RIS three rail without the FSB for 650 to 750. Definitely a better deal than the BCM.
Trope360@reddit
Including bcg?
lennyxiii@reddit
No. But I looked at my invoice, $663 for a m4a1 ris ii rail (non fsb) - I have photos of several 10 shot sub moa groups and a couple .25-.35 moa 5 shot groups with it - it’s super accurate.
For $100 more than this about a week ago you could have gotten a complete mk18 ris iii upper with bcg and charging handle.
No matter how you look at it there’s better options in this price range. Bcm is great, but not g$ or DD great.
Trope360@reddit
.25-.35 moa 5 shot groups (at 100 yards with 5.56 match I assume) with a gasser, that's more accurate than my 6.5cm Tikka and... that's hard to believe, but I'll take your word for it. Personally I would put DD a lot closer to BCM than G$. I'm no fan of Bill, but a DD out of the box shoots like an AR from the ones I've shot. A G$ out of the box is the nicest prebuilt I've ever felt, and I hate to admit that but they're in a class of their own. And you won't get G$ at these prices we're talking.
lennyxiii@reddit
Outdoors, my hand loads using cheap ass 55 grain hornady fmjs behind 26.0 Varget. No clamp. I either used a bipod or front bag, can’t remember because I swap often and a rear bag. This was on folding plastic wobbly picnic table thing and a camping chair.
Trope360@reddit
Nice! What type of fps and sd you get with that load on the 14.5?
lennyxiii@reddit
I don’t have the data with me but it’s on my garmin still. I’m thinking 2900ish fps but I really can’t remember. SD wasn’t anything great, 15ish if I recall on a string of 15 shots. I’m giving you ball park numbers but if you’re genuinely curious I can pull it up when I get home.
Trope360@reddit
Ah it's all good, I'm just still learning reloading myself as I've only used other people's equipment so like to hear what people are using and the results they're getting. 15fps sd is great compared to a lot of factory ammo I've tested with my garmin 😂 I do more 2 gun competition than precision, so a lot of friends are on progressive presses over single stage, but I've been stacking Ramshot TAC as that was recommended to me by a few. Would you recommend Varget for 62gr - 77gr 5.56 over TAC? If you have experience with both ofc.
lennyxiii@reddit
I’ve actually never tried tac yet but I do have some. My favorite powder right now for a 556 is Varget and 8208 xbr, both give incredible accuracy especially the 8208 on the 68-77s. I’ve heard tac is really good too but I haven’t tried loading it yet. In my experience if you choose a cookie cutter load that everyone likes it gets you 90% there and then you can fine tune until the end of time lol.
lennyxiii@reddit
Here I found one of my 5 shot groups on my phone.
https://imgur.com/a/HkayETV
wormraper@reddit
agreed. the $750 DD ones were the basic bitch A2 FSB ones, and the $799 ones with the rails were all sans muzzle device or BCG... I'll take this any day of the week.
lennyxiii@reddit
You can get the regular mk 18 or M4A1 with or without the FSB for 650 to 750 often
Old_MI_Runner@reddit
The posted BCM blem was $669.95 back on 9/23/2023 when they had 6 to 9 models available. Below is a link to am image of the webpage showing the date and price. Also note that the below shows that it included the pin and welded A2X flash hider which in OPs posting here would have added another $45 to the price.
|
Back in the 9/23/2023 sale there was no option for the 14.5" without the A2X so some passed on it. I am glad I jumped on that sale before the price increases. Most of the blem sales since then have mostly been models with the 16" barrel so it seems easy to get a 16" blem than 14.5 or 12.5. I don't recall any blems long than 16" in the last two years that I have been reading these postings for blems.
https://imgur.com/a/1ZPGAL1
Sometime in 2024 BCM had two blems on sale that may have or may not have sold out quickly. Then a day or two later they were back on their website at price of $50 more. The price hike of $50 was noted in the Gundeals discussion. It seemed at the time that BCM decided their blems sales were popular enough that they could charge more. I am not so sure I am going to continue to recommend BCM blems sales as a very good sale to others on Reddit. I got one of the 16" DDM4V7 uppers from MidwayUSA for $535. They don't come with BCG, muzzle device or CH but with BCM's higher prices on blems I am not sure what I would say what it the best deal on uppers today.

I can't load imgur as they block vpns so I'll take your word on it, thx for tracking this info down tho so we can log it. Personally I can't use a PNW regular flash hider – I run cans on everything so that woulda cost me more to remove than it was worth and isn't a cost benefit to me but opposite, gonna cost me $ to have D.wilson take it off and put on something useable so depends on your scenario there. I remember that deal, was a great price but picking outliers is hard, a bit like that Midway DD deal. I picked up my non BFH ELW 14.5 MCMR-13 in Nov 23 for around $611 and the BFH was def another ~$100. I grabbed mine mainly to get the MK2 upper and had been seeking a while, wanted to see if it mitigated gas better, adding the SFMB PNW was a solid deal out the door, that was solid for the times. A year and a half ago is in line with my "~2 years" remark of this roughly being the same price. We're past the point of looking at prices from years ago imo, unless this economy bottoms out and we have bigger fish to fry, but I'd be happy to go find some receipts from when I was getting 556 for $0.16cpr if people want something to cry about. Personally I don't see $50 as a huge difference today, while I realize a lot of people pointed out the hike as all brands did and hey it is money, in todays dollars it just is meaningless to me personally - you gotta look at the last year and decide for yourself. This identical upper, as yours was PNW, was never in the "550-650 range" recently is the truth. Cost of inflation, I've made a lot more on investments since then to offset so who am I to complain about the $50. I'm more pissed about Taco Bell raising their base BRC to like $4, of the once I've gone there since that 9/23/23 deal was posted and was outraged haha. Aero wanting $100+ for a base M4E1 these days, it's across the board and we need to look in today dollars for deals.
Taking in the value of the BCM BCG at ~$200, that'd put the midway DD deal pretty in line with this one at current price, and from what I recall that was a top DD deal I wouldn't count on seeing again, like the PSA deal for $1000 LWRC. Compare that LWRC deal to anything including this BF, and if you didn't get it then you can wait til your face turns blue this Nov. Midway and their games too, you get a 20% coupon to work that's awesome, they aren't worth my time to play those games personally and cycle 8 accounts hoping one works. My BCM upper is the only I own that I purchased pre assembled and only because they don't sell the MK2 by itself, otherwise I've built all ~15 or so of mine myself, so I'm the wrong market really for people wanting these prebuilds for a name brand roll mark haha Other than a Geissele, and I'm no fan of Bill but nicest out of the box rig I've shot was a G$ sadly, made things like an LMT feel like a PSA – if I see one of their uppers on a good sale I might bite, but it'll be a lot more than this price esp. with G$ BCG. In the name brand game, they stand alone.
Long story short, I'd jump on this deal at $769 including the BCG and still don't see a 16" DDM4V7 (if you got the coupon to work, which is 1% probably of people trying) as a "better deal". If you're in the market for a name brand prebuild upper. Also nothing noticeable as a "blem" in what I received from BCM, and really comes down to how they run. I've put a lot down the pipe and would be happy with this price, fwiw.
Old_MI_Runner@reddit
Now I know what others feel like when they read my long replies. /s
I was just trying to provide proof of how much the price has changed on the BCM blems since I purchased mine in September of 2023 . This BCM deal was out of stock very quickly after it was posted today so if you want to talk about deals that only 1% can get in on and this was it. Some of these price increases are much higher than the inflation rate. My first AR was an Andro Bravo which I got just under $400 plus shipping in 2022. I would not even bring Aero Precision into discussion after all the complaints with their customer service since the 4th quarter of last year. I submitted a question to them in early November and did not get my first response from them until just last month. One can buy that today for $380. So all the firearm prices are not going up at all much less faster than the inflation rate. A local store or just put out an ad today that shows they're selling the Taurus g3c for $200 while back in 2022 the cheapest I saw it for was around $230.
Trope360@reddit
haha I hear ya, I type so fast it just comes out. TLDR The price hasn't changed that much - you were "providing proof how much the price has changed" by one anecdotal sale. You're basing your entire price history on a unicorn deal, the only of it's kind, and that's just not how a baseline average of what they were going for, works. It went up $50, everyone is on that same page. That one deal, that was a deal to you (to me it was not, due to configuration) and as being a configuration many would not want, they clearanced them out at a lower price to get rid of them. You can search this sub for plenty of this same upper being posted 2+ years ago at the same price minus the $50 hike. You aren't finding multiple posts from 2023 or 2022 even of this same upper being $1-200 cheaper, thats the facts – and that's what the OP said "weren't these going for 550-650 not long ago" and no, they were not, not in this configuration. One time, if you liked the configuration, there was a golden deal!
Also - Aero's delay on customer service responses has zero to do with the price of their product and prices rising.
Old_MI_Runner@reddit
Just about every BCM blem sale is a unicorn deal because typically only a few models are sold. Much of the time the blems are not both cold hammer forged and light weight. Even less often are they also 14.5". You won't likely see all three on a blem sale. It may be weeks between new items even showing up for a blem sale. I did not see you or anyone else post a closer example of a similar blem model. I was actually hoping others would post whatever factual data they had regarding prior pricing of similar model configuration.
You are complaining that my example price is not recent but you then mention prices from 2+ years ago yourself but with no actual document data as I provided. I really can't follow your logic and don't care to spend the time. I don't care to spend the time searching Gundeals for prior blem sales prior to Sept 2023. You can to that if you want and post links.
I even wrote " there was no option for the 14.5" without the A2X so some passed on it." so I was pointing out that it was a deal killer for some like you. Others may have wanted it then and if they wanted it now it would have cost them more. I was going out of my way to point out it was not the exact same configuration but it was the closest I recall seeing since then. If I ever want to install a suppressor on my BCM I will like just learn how to remove the pin and weld myself as I enjoy learning new skills and doing my own work on my home, appliances, furnace, automobiles and other items.
The sale back in Sept 2023 was active much longer after posting than this sale before the 14.5 was sold out back then. This sale was so short it is hardly worth talking about regardless of price. At this point I have probably spent more time replying to you than the sale lasted after posting. I was just giving others who talked about a price hike documented factual data with almost the exact same configuration. You just seem to want to argue without posting any documented prices. I am done. I won't read your next reply but may block you as I don't want to waste more time replying to you in the future over trivial postings.
Trope360@reddit
hahaha peak reddit! 🍻
Here is the exact same deal 4 years ago for $769.95 SAME EXACT PRICE AS THIS
Here is another post of the exact same deal 4 years ago for $769.95 - Hm, same price....
As if it's hard to type in "14.5 ELW BFH" on this sub's search - https://old.reddit.com/r/gundeals/search?q=14.5+ELW+BFH&restrict_sr=on&include_over_18=on God damn kids are lazy these days.
wormraper@reddit
yeah, it wasn't jsut the blems. it was ALL their uppers got a $50 price hike. non blems included. they still do just $100 off the regular price for their blems.
I rmember in 2024 when that happened. I had JUST bought an upper and was waiting for the ELW BFH 16 inch to come back in stock, then they did with that price hike :(....
Old_MI_Runner@reddit
Thank you for the additional details.
I have now progressed to the point were I am buying parts and gunsmith tools on sale to start assembling my own. I have barrels from prior Schuyler Arms Co sale, White Oak Armory yearly sale on 9/19, and am hoping USPS did not loose my $200 18" Criterion barrel from Brownell's sale. That delivery is long past the original estimated delivery date with no date now being offered. I wonder if WOA will continue to have their year Pirate Day sale now that they have new owners and moved to a new facility.
I just had to use my armorer's wrench for the first time to tighten the castle nut on a Ruger MPR. This was after watching SOTAR series on the Ruger AR556 rifles. The MPR looks to be the same at the AR556 to me except for a very good trigger in the MRP, possibly a better quality barrel and Magpul furniture rather than Mil-spec A2 grip and M4 stock. The BCG, buffer spring and buffer look the same to me. The castle nut came loose in under 100 rounds. The MPR was purchased only due to it being on sale for $600 last year at PSA. They had it for $550 sale a few weeks prior to that. After seeing the SOTAR series and seeing the lack of quality in the assembly I am no sure the MPR was such a good deal.
The only blem I found on the 14.5" BCM I bought in 2023 was two tiny chips in the finish on the upper in the area of the forward assist.
wormraper@reddit
I can almost never find the blem on my BCM blems. I got the 16-in elw bfh in November, and I still can't find the blem on it
crashovercool@reddit
Such as? Genuinely asking
Significant_Brick_95@reddit
A few would be DD, Solgw, Sionics. Idk theres probably more too.
All of them run crazy sales pretty frequently too.
My understanding was BCM was adored because you could get into a very competitive platform at lower price than competitors. With their growing brand recognition, and subsequent increase in prices im not really sure what seperates from the pack anymore.
crashovercool@reddit
Nice appreciate the reply. I'm in the market and have been shopping around so this was helpful.
Significant_Brick_95@reddit
Np. Home you find something you like.
WildlyWeasel@reddit
Got my 12.5 blem last year for $575. Had the BCG deal, which I assume they're still doing. But varies greatly by sku.
wormraper@reddit
they were $586 and $636 back 6 months ago. they raised the prices on all uppers across the board $50 back then.
lightbeaches@reddit (OP)
Yeah, $100 off is not worth the wait tbh
TaeTwoTimes@reddit
Yup.
squilliam777@reddit
I can get a DD RIS III upper for 580 minus the bcg but I don't know if it would be an improvement over my BCM
BickenBackk@reddit
Where?
TaeTwoTimes@reddit
Brownell when they’re on sale. Was just there like 2 weeks ago. Even better during BF
BickenBackk@reddit
Big time information, thanks.
Killerofthecentury@reddit
Completely understand. I’ve got a parts build I’m doing instead that will be better than a DD or BCM but thanks for the info! I plan on letting some of my friends know that are looking into ARs
Icy_Feedback_5144@reddit
That shits heavy. Even the mlok version. I have the quad rail and I think the mlok is only an ounce lighter if I’m not mistaken.
spiceguys@reddit
not mkii upper? might as well get a BCA
/s
wormraper@reddit
I got amused at how quickly people went MK2 or bust.
The mk2 was an answer in search of a problem. They did it to try to win a military contract and lost out big. And instead of shelving the project they just relabel it the MK2 and sold it to us LOL
TooEZ_OL56@reddit
What was the contract and who ended up winning it?
wormraper@reddit
sorry, I misremembered, it wasn't a Mil contract. they built it in hopes of winning an LEO contract years ago, and it never materialized. they didn't want to waste the fabricating they'd already done, so they just redubbed it the MKII
it's one of those non starter things. the MKII uppers sound cool on paper, but outside of redirecting some gasses while suppressed, the new uppers don't really do anything better than a standard upper. Nothing wrong with them, but nothing that would make you go gaga over them as well.
ExaminationNo7179@reddit
I, too, am interested in the details.
tirdydirty06@reddit
Oos
lightbeaches@reddit (OP)
Wow looks like they only had a few then. The non BFH still in stock for $100 cheaper.
wormraper@reddit
also, now I need to find a lower for this...and wtf??? BCM lowers are INSANE right now... normally $400 for their fully built lowers any day of the week. now they're at $525 most places. that's effing INSANE for a BCM lower.
AssistantActive9529@reddit
Even my gunsmith says grab a pony lower l, put the grip, stock , and trigger you want and you still have money left over to add to that upper you want.
wormraper@reddit
Lol. If I go the home built lower route, I probably won't go poverty pony at low. But I believe I have an aero M4A1 or a zev lower lying around somewhere I can build up
Motampd@reddit
That's the route I went - the BCM 14.5 BFH upper , on a poverty pony lower that I built out with MBT-2S, etc Reasonably tight tolerances with no issues at all - plus its kind of its own anti-theft device! The last AR in the rack you would steal at a glance lol
xcarlosxdangerx@reddit
Shit for that price you can get a full LWRC lower
StupidFuckinWizard@reddit
PSA does the same thing for a fraction of the price
wormraper@reddit
yeah, no. I wouldn't touch PSA with my worst enemies dick. Their lowers themselves are ok (as long as you get one in spec), but their parts are bottom barrel. I've VERY picky with what parts go in my gun. BCM, Sionics, DD and Colt are my 4 with very little variance
StupidFuckinWizard@reddit
Only the best for larping in the bathroom mirror
BajingoWhisperer@reddit
Bro your mid tier Gucci shit is over priced. PSA saber line hits way way above its price point.
wormraper@reddit
lol, but their QC is still PSA QC.... which I shuddder at.
lightbeaches@reddit (OP)
Yeah…slap on an aero for a fraction of the price
sarsburner@reddit
worth
wormraper@reddit
for $100 less I'd get the non BFH all day long. the benefits of CHF barrels are WAY overstated on the internet. Even Paul at BCM said they've tested side by side for years and MAYBE the CHF/BFH one has a SLIGHT boost in longevity. They stated they would have simply discontinued them years ago but people like the warm fuzzies of CHF barrels .
Loud_Dumps@reddit
Man, when you can get the CL KAK 14.5 with BCG/CH for ~500 before a 15%off/free shipping sale. These guys keep going up and up
IKNDWEY@reddit
Nooooo it's already out of stock. Spent all day researching yesterday and looking for this and emailed them. Aaaand it's gone already.
wormraper@reddit
they have the non BFH version for almost $100 less. I'd get that over the BFH... the CHF barrels are over hyped. BCM Button rifled barrels are fantastic too. especially their newer ELW ones
https://bravocompanyusa.com/cosmetic-blem-bcm-standard-14-5-mid-length-enhanced-light-weight-complete-upper-receiver-group-w-mcmr-13-handguard/
I have multiple BFH and multiple BCM button rifled, and haven't even came close to shooting them out, and I've put over 30,000 through a couple of them. (1 is the Button rifled)... the filthy 14 BCM did went over 48,000 rounds and was still going and it was their button rifled ones.
IKNDWEY@reddit
I grabbed the ELH 14.5" standard.
wormraper@reddit
Good choice. I picked up one of them as well, and friend picked one up as well too LOL.
IKNDWEY@reddit
Now I need a "budget" lower. This is my first AR that I plan to keep for a long time.
wormraper@reddit
check out the Sionics gutless lower. comes fully built just without stock, trigger, and buffer spring/buffer. (which can be added as you check out.
$350 for the gutless lower and you can add a trigger of your choice, and stock of your choice (as those are personal)
or grab an aero and build you own. they're not super hard, but it IS easier to buy a fully built one. Whatever you do, don't fall prey to the mantra of "a lower is a lower". they're really not. at least get something from a good well established brand over a PSA or Anderson special (their stripped lowers are generally fine, their small parts are bottom of the barrel)
IKNDWEY@reddit
I'm buying the ELW
Am I good with an A2X and then a cheap $99 blem lower from PSAsl?
b4dkarm4@reddit
Only blem around here is my fucking credit score.
ANarwhalApart@reddit
Implying that there’s a more polished version…
akmjolnir@reddit
Yeah, the next card that gets opened.
lnSerT_Creative_Name@reddit
Been waiting for like a year and a half on blem 18 or 20 inch uppers to pop up again, at this point I might go white oak armory for a proper SPRish setup instead.
wormraper@reddit
I've only seen the NON BLEM ones come in stock once over the last year. they're not putting much effort into the 20 inchers anymore.
