Completely off topic but when I was a kid I thought Data looked like Michael Myers because of the hair and white face 🤣 its even funnier to me now knowing the Michael Myers mask was made from a Captain Kirk mask, they should really make a new one from a Data mask!Â
I believe out of all of the TNG cast, Brent and Gates have known each other the longest and seem to be genuinely fond of each other. They met in NYC in 1979 when he was acting in the play Emigres, which was being produced by Gates' boyfriend. At that time, Gates was also working for the BAM (Brooklyn Academy of Music) as the choreographer in residence. In his book, Brent writes about meeting Gates: "She was incredibly bright and obviously stunning. Nothing has changed."
I love how the TNG cast really bonded. Sure, some were closer than others, but seems like there was none of the diva/star/1st billing ego crap that plagued TOS. I've seen various cast members at cons, and the way they tell stories about each other, even critical ones, is so clearly from a position of love and respect. Haven't gotten to meet these two up close in person, but I can say Burton, Frakes, and Sirtis are all real class acts.
The actor who played the captain could have easily thought that he was the most important member of the cast, and had they cast an egomaniac that might have happened. But they cast Patrick Stewart who is an absolute bro and a theater-trained pro who knows that shows like this live and die based on the chemistry of the cast, not on the star power of a single diva/divo.
They talk about it in his episode of her podcast. He rolled up to the church, last minute & with no idea she planned to do that, not least because he's Jewish & didn't think he qualified due to that.
Well, yeah, but do you personally have to teach them religious things, or do you just have to see that they receive those teachings? Because if it's the former, that's definitely a problem, but if it's the latter, I don't see why the religion of the godparent really matters.
It's merely ceremonial , but you have to swear an oath you believe in Jesus Christ and will bring the child up in his teachings . So another Christian might pass it but a Jew couldn't
I met Brent Spiner a few years ago at a comicon in Ottawa. No longer a head star costing a hundred bucks or more for an autograph.
He was the most endearing person I met there. I was first in line to see him as he set up his table. He jumped over the barrier, got people behind me to take pics of the two of us hugging, shaking hands, I was in awe.
How many of these events has he done over the years? Thousands is my guess, and to be so welcoming and friendly on a personal basis, a fan like me could never ask for more.
A true legend in the history of Star Trek, but more importantly, he really appreciates his fan base, and wasn't rude, or crass, like some of the other actors I met that charged a lot more than $30 for a Pic and signature, and just hustled you through the process.
Though I particularly liked him as the devil in a show that hot canceled after a yr. A great person to meet.
He's so great to his fans; I would understand if he was jaded with the whole thing by now, but he is genuinely so nice and welcoming. When I saw him at FanExpo in Toronto (15 years ago now, yeeesh how time flies), the line stretched around the corner of his booth, and he would periodically get up and run around the line saying "You're almost there! Just a little longer!" to those of us waiting. And he took the time to actually talk to each person who came up to his table. I remember being so worried he'd be a let down or rude or something, but he was amazing beyond my expectations. Also absolutely hilarious.
So glad to hear this. I'm guessing it was 8 years ago I met him. Another nice experience on the same day, while not from the Star Trek universe was the actor that played Gerry from walking dead. No idea why, but he gave me his lunch and a slice of apple pie.
I think Gates might look even better without the TV makeup? They were basically attacking her with the blush at certain points, but I don't think they needed to.

The whole TNG cast is tight but I believe Brent is godfather to her son.
Her real son, not her space son.
Dabochman@reddit
To be fair she was more a mom to Wil than his own mom. According to Wil the entire cast are his real family not his parents.

true, but he does refer to her as his "spacemom."

Technically he isn't . You have to swear an oath to bring the child up in the teachings of the church .
