What was your Regional Murder Mystery growing up?

Born in 78. The first serial killer case I can recall hearing about was Jeffrey Dahmer in 1991. The details were SO sensationalistic it was pure TV/Tabloid fodder. Before that I remember hearing about Ted Bundy's execution in 1989, they didn't go into gruesome detail but the guy definitely had an alarming body count and that stood out. That being said I grew up in Iowa and the Johnny Gosch case got ENDLESS play here. I was four when he disappeared, but it was SUPER talked about in school and amongst parents. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disappearance\_of\_Johnny\_Gosch](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disappearance_of_Johnny_Gosch) Led me to believe everyone must have their own regional real life boogeyman urban mystery you grew up talking about in school. Excited to hear everyone's stories! :)
