"Poland withdraws from alliance of German-speaking countries."
That's basically what is happening here. They're escaping from invaders, colonisers, racists, mass murderers, slavers and thieves.
Equivalent_Age_5599@reddit
And joining up with the kind and sensitive Russians?
You've got to be joking.
xiaopewpew@reddit
Why should Mali see Russia the same way Canada does? Different continent, different history, different people.
LanaDelHeeey@reddit
They have TV and internet in Mali. They can see what Russia is currently doing to Ukraine in a naked act of aggression. Is France doing the same at the moment?
evil_brain@reddit
Wait until you find out how many countries France has destroyed.
Your_nightmare__@reddit
I'm well aware of france's history. But as it stands right now is russia not actively exploiting these exact countries where france has since been replaced? I say this as an egyptian: One was historically bad but is now for the most part neutral (and the generations responsible for the atrocities are dead). The other is a warmonger right now, and last i heard are not even honoring their pledges since instability within these 3 african regions are now flaring up.

Your_nightmare__@reddit
Yep astroturfer toooootally (sarcasm).not both egyptian and italian nah that's too farfetched. This application tires me to a very high degree when i have to explain everything in the most minisculest of details because there's people like you. You can only set 1 flair and not 2.

France isn't neutral. They're still actively exploiting their colonies, even the ones that are allying with Russia. The day that France stops stealing from Africa, we'd know because their economy would collapse.
Also Russia hasn't replaced France. What Russia is doing is providing a regime survival package. So the westerners can't assassinate their leaders, coup their government or start civil wars like they used to in the past. That's what they're whining about. Because they can't do rigged elections or comprador coups to restore the master-slave dynamic.
There are no Russian corporations exploiting the people, paying slave wages, destroying the environment and sending all the profits back to Europe. It's not the same relationship.
Stop treating Africans as if we're brainless. Those countries know what they're doing and where the danger is better than you.
Stelist_Knicks@reddit
You're being downvoted but you're absolutely right. I am not a Russia fan, I'm from Eastern Europe. But I can sympathize with why Africans would rather ally themselves with Russia over France.
I agree too. People act like Africans are doing the evil thing or that they're just 'dumb'. They are not. Some people are just mad that the colonized are standing up to the colonizers.
TheWhitekrayon@reddit
Ask libya how neutral France is. France killed gaddafi and overthrew the most prosperous country in Africa because they hurt their bottom line. France has actively to this day engaged in overthrowing and controlling African governments. The colonies never ended for them just went from territorial to economic
CuriousCat31441@reddit
Wait till you find out how many living French people are responsible for destroying other countries.
LanaDelHeeey@reddit
Wait until you find out which countries are currently doing the destroying and which are not.
Stelist_Knicks@reddit
I see your point but we also have to recognize pragmatism. Russia has next to no history in Africa prior to the 20th century. Historically, Mali has no reason to dislike Russia. They absolutely have a reason to dislike France.
If they want to decouple from France, Russia was likely the only available option in terms of world power. It is between Russia or China if I had to guess.
TheWhitekrayon@reddit
Asking for help from the bill that hasn't hurt them against the one who has. There are no good options. One has proven they will abuse them. The other hasn't yet

Honestly? Let them do. Either their situation improve and they'll guide the rest of africa into a new way, either (and probably will happen honestly) they collapse between terrorists and wagnerite, and it will hopefully calm down internet fighter.

Good. Break the shackles
the_lonely_creeper@reddit
Mali and the two other countries are ruled by juntas. They're there to forge shackles, not brake them.
Nubian_Cavalry@reddit
And? Why should you be allowed to dictate how other countries run?
the_lonely_creeper@reddit
You're right. If a King wants to rule, what right do we have to refuse him?
Similarly, if a country wants to re-establish slavery, murder its minorities, force everyone to have the same haircut or whatever else crazy law is imagined, we should not care at all.
Let the chains of foreign oppression be broken, so that the domestic ones can be gloriously forged!
Nubian_Cavalry@reddit
The only people who should (And if you know anything, do) complain about the Junta are the Mali, Burkina Faso, and other West African ethnicities it actually hurts, not white boys in suits using it as an excuse to why Africans don’t deserve to be left alone and why you should rule over them again
the_lonely_creeper@reddit
As I said then, let slavers do their job. Why should we care?
Nubian_Cavalry@reddit
You don’t. You never did. You’re just angry you’re no longer doing the oppressing, nothing more.
If the Junta supported you people, you’d be singing praise like you sung praise to those who opposed the Viet Kong. Don’t pretend otherwise
the_lonely_creeper@reddit
Yes, yes, whatever you say.

Meh meh meh meh meh 🤏🏿

I'm sure benevolent Europeans would lift them into democracy right
the_lonely_creeper@reddit
I'll need you to explain to me why the birthplace of the local dictator matters at all.
Or for that matter, why the semi-elected guy supported by France was less legitimate than the current junta supported by Russia.
It's not like Russia isn't European, it is.
