FFS lol.... Why is it always these deals come around a few weeks after I buy one?

My first M203 DD was approved 6 days ago. Got a great price on it, but even after transfer and shipping this is $100 cheaper.

Such is life... At least I have a grenade launcher... Silver lining and all.

Genuine question but other than vibes and looking sweet at the range is there any purpose to these? Chucking chalk rounds sounds fun as he'll but I imagine the novelty would wear off

Not really lol. Got mine for vibes, fun-sies, bragging rights, the THOOMP noise it makes... But mostly because I've always wanted a Predator/Scarface/Black Hawk Down M16/M203 build.

Aside from chalk rounds you can get adapters to shoot a bunch of .22LR rounds at once (called a beehive adapter) and adapters to shoot 12 gauge rounds out of it. I think you can also buy/make smoke grenades, flares, bear banger and flashbang rounds.

The boom boom (HE) rounds are technically legal for civilians with the right paperwork BUT no company that manufactures them will sell to civilians because of liability. To make the HE rounds yourself you'd need a FEL (Federal Explosives License) which is basically impossible to get unless you have a legitimate business purpose.

It's not that hard to get the FEL, especially the limited intrastate user permit, if you live in a rural area. My dad used to have one that let him buy explosives from an in-state dealer 6 times a year.

The "business or operational need" requirement is not specifically defined and is just to weed out hobbyists and troublemakers. Taking out tree stumps or breaking up large boulders on your property is a legitimate need.

Other than that, all you need is a clean background record, a storage bunker that meets specs, and remaining in compliance with state and local laws on explosives. That's not difficult in most rural areas outside the communist hellholes on the coasts.

They are super cool, and neat conversation piece, and a good example of "Why? Because I can."

There are a variety of things you could shoot through one, but it's not like it's a practical piece of equipment for everyday range use- and even in the imaginary "break down of social order/post-collapse" world, I don't think it's super likely that a group of survivors banding together would be like, "Alright, so you're now the designated grenadier for this element" or whatever else.

That said, my M203 is the coolest firearm I own, and mine holds some collector value as well. Is it practical? No. But, it is a cool conversation piece.
