my school is honestly weird

there are alot of rules like no makeup no fake tan no piercings etc we do have blazers and have to keep them on all around school except in class

in late spring we have summer uniform which is just jumpers are optional still have to wear blazers

theres also two types of jumper and shirts one of jumpers has no sleeves and one of the shirts has long sleeves

I love my school uniform because it’s actually comfy to wear it’s a unisex light blue polo shirt with the school logo with gray trousers the girls had the option of a skirt or trousers with a black jumper girls could wear the female polo or unisex they were strict I came in a blue shirt and they made my change into a polo the pe kit is the same a white polo with black joggers

When I was at school it was white polo T shirt, extremely short tie and skirt just as short. Moved schools and it was black trousers and a red jumper. Any. I had denim shirt under.

My kid goes to the same school as my first one and it’s black dress shoes, black socks, black underwear (I’ve told them to fuck off on that one) white long sleeve shirt, black trousers only, no grey, tie, black jumper and blazer. I’m 35 degree heat they are allowed to not wear a jumper but the blazer stays on. If it’s - whatever outside, you can wear a coat to the outside school gates and if it can’t fit in your bag, detention. No costs at all, in the school yard. School skirts have to be school issued.

Militant is what it is. I’m all for uniform and rules but nobody is telling my kid what underwear to wear.

Some absolutely abuse it and are out in isolation but some kids have a smidge of silver on the shoe and they are also in isolation.

Oh and a black bag no tags, graphics or slogans

PE knickers were a thing for girls when I was in school.

If you have to tell them what colour pants to wear then maybe, just maybe, a skirt isn’t suitable sportswear?!

Yep. They will, if they see fit, allow jumpers to be removed.

I’ve had some right set toos with school as you have all the young lady teachers in low cut tops, skirts you can see their breakfast in if they bend over or sat in coats in the winter.

Not allowed to drink unless it’s break or lunch so my kid comes home with some right migraines in summer to heat and dehydration.

I went to 2 secondary schools, well, mine mergered with a other one on a different site.

The first one was very relaxed, we had a black jumper and white polo, if it was warm, we could take the jumper off as the polo has the school logo on it.

As long as you were wearing black trousers and black shoes, they didn't give a shit.

They let you dye your hair, have piercings, as long as you didn't take the piss. I had my hair bright pink, blue, green and red, unfortunately not all at the same time.

The second school was a lot more strict, mainly because the school we merged with was strict.

Grey jumper with white shirt. You weren't allowed to remove the jumper, you just had to suffer, although we did have air conditioning then! The shirt had to be tucked in etc. otherwise you'd get wrong.

The year I moved to sixth form, they introduced blazers, ties and all that shite. Luckily sixth form didn't have uniform, it was just smart casual, but they got even stricter. I'm guessing they gradually rolled it out so we didn't cause as much trouble!

My daughters school is shirt tie blazer’s, girls can wear skirts or trousers but they have to wear thick black tights with a skirt.
They are particularly strict on footwear. Has to be nonbranded or the brand logo can’t be seen. No boots in winter unless they take them off and change into shoes before entering the building (she came home freezing with wet feet when it was raining and I wasn’t happy at all) they don’t have lockers or coat hooks so the kids are just wearing blazers as a coat and they get cold and wet through because they don’t want to drag a wet coat around the school all day.

At the school I teach at, it’s jumpers and blazers. Jumpers are long sleeve, wool, and fairly thick. We can give permission for the students to remove blazers in class (I always do)but jumpers stay on. Some teachers brag about refusing permission on hot days.

I left school 6 years ago. My uniform was so lax I could wear a plain t-shirt that was blue (school colour) with jeans.

There was tie, Poloshirt, zip, and pullover hoodie options with the colours or the logo on.

The school is still the same now my friends younger sibling wears blue tshirts and jeans most days

We have a jumper, blazer, shirt, tie, skirt or trousers, and black shoes. Not really strict you only have to wear the jumper and blazer when walking around school. Also no coats in the building, which is stupid because we've been made to go outside in the pouring rain to put our coats on...

Black trainers or shoes, black trousers, but nearly everyone were black jeans and nothing was said . school jumper option, a variety of colours for polo shirt with or without the school logo

In the summer you were allowed to wear tailor shorts as long as these were plain black

The PE we had two kits (indoor and outdoor) but a lot was said as certain items could be bought from one supplier , we managed to get this merged into one

My primary school had branded red jumpers and we were supposed to wear trousers but they were laid back about it. We often wore tracksuit bottoms and as long as we had a red jumper or t shirt to hand, they allowed anything (uniform was introduced during my time there) I had a red jumper wedged behind a bookshelf for a year until the cleaner found it one day and sent it to lost property.

Secondary school, we had blazers we were supposed to wear, jumpers we could wlchoose to wear (had to be very neck but nobody listened) but shirt and tie was mandatory.

Blazer was usually wedged into my bag. Jumper was always a round neck, and in my last 2 years, the school shirt was often a football kit under the jumper and polo shirt without tie in warmer weather.

Once a teacher challenged me on my round neck jumper and asked me to remove it. She seen the football shirt underneath and told me to put the jumper back on

School shoes were required but black reebok classics or similar style trainers were usually enough to not draw attention

I went to a bit of a posh school and they weren't that strict. Shirt could be blue, white, grey. Trousers black, grey, navy blue. You could wear a jumper or not wear a jumper, navy blue or grey. Sleeveless jumper was fine as were cardigans. No requirement to buy the stuff from a special shop, it was fine to get a generic blazer and sew on the school shield. The only thing you had to get from the shool shop was the tie.

Kids school is OK with trainers as long as they are all black, think that is pretty sensible. School blazer, tie, the annoying thing is they do have a day when they say it is OK to take the blazer off which is a bit annoying, what if you are hot. But apparently individual teachers are cool with it, it is more when people are wandering about corridors.

My old school was hit and miss. Some teachers didn’t care, others acted like your uniform being perfect was all that held the universe together. I’d always wear the correct uniform, but would adapt it or push the boundaries with it. (Short or skinny tie, rolled skirt, whatever socks everyone was wearing that term)

The punishment for uniform infractions (when you’re in uniform but it’s not correct in some way) was a lunchtime detention. I’d have at least 3 of these per week despite being an otherwise “good” student.

But there was a loophole though. From January onwards (in the lead up to exams) Year 11’s weren’t allowed lunchtime detentions so there was effectively no punishment for uniform infractions which meant I got my lunch times back!

I’m now in 6th form at a different school and the dress code is just “smart office wear” so there is a lot of freedom with that.

we had jumpers and blazers. you only had to wear blazers to assembly, wednesdays, and around school (not in class) in year 7-9. jumpers were optional, but everyone wore them regardless.

Blazer and tie, no jumper. I think there was a temperature threshold above which "summer uniform" was declared which meant you could take off the tie and blazer and undo your top shirt button. The rest of the time it was extremely strict with an instant detention marked on a card you had to carry in the jacket pocket.

Also for most of a year skirts were banned because of a long-running battle over how short they could be. This backfired massively when the girls discovered low-rise trousers instead...

We only had jumpers, no blazers. And we were expected to wear them from October half term to may half term. Then we could just wear shirts and ties at other times.
