Does adding more pilots to an insurance plan increase costs?

Of course if you're an ATP and add a 40 hour PPL I'd expect premiums to go up, but if you're a single owner and add another similarly-experienced pilot, do premiums change? Trying to rough out fixed costs and how much they'd change with how many partners and have no idea how insurance works

We had a friend that is a 10k hour corporate pilot on ours. We took him off since he didn't fly the plane anymore and policy stayed the same.

The problem is that the entire policy will be based on the LEAST qualified of any pilot listed. If you add a 40 hour Private to your policy, the fact that you have an ATP means diddly squat.

luckily ("luckily"), I'm a private pilot with zero additional ratings and 85 hours, so my qualifications are basically as low as they go already lol

Low time vfr pilot. Bought a plane. Insurance wanted me to have 1 hour training with a CFI. To be able to let a friend fly he needed the same 1 hour with a CFI. But no training unless you’re named. Didn’t cost anything extra to add him.

Generally rates will be higher with multiple pilots, but far less than double. So the cost per person is much lower.

Anecdotal experience: adding 2 similarly-rated pilots to myself with similar or greater hours actually brought my rates slightly down. Rates shot up significantly again when I added a fairly green PPL to the policy. Generally the overall premium will reflect the riskiest pilot among the named pilot list.
