Democratic Party's favorability hits record lows in two polls after 2024 losses

While the democrats don't recognize that Biden sank the party, and yet still try to push "his legacy" or any other pathetic stupid "no daylight", it will sink further. If this is not manufactured opposition, then call it, it is dead. And in my opinion, good riddance and don't just blame Mango Mussolini.
BlockAffectionate413@reddit
Dems focused on" Trump is antichrist, we are at least not Trump" which does not work. Now Trump has only one potential option to have third term without amandment which is pretty unlikley. They must move beyond Trump and moderate on cultural issues and immigration if they want to turn it around.
ZombieJesusaves@reddit
I actually think this is the wrong takeaway. The problem is already that the dems are too moderate. They offer no real alternative to the right. It's just a more sane right. If the dems want to come back hard they need to actually embrace the left of the party and start proposing bold new plans which will excite the base. Also they have to actually start taking the fight to the right, not holding up signs. Business as usual just is not going to work anymore.
ButtonholePhotophile@reddit
AOConomy would fire up so many votes.
ScaringTheHoes@reddit
And lose a ton of others.
Mundane_Emu8921@reddit
No it wouldn’t.
ScaringTheHoes@reddit
They already did.
Proof: 2024 election results.
Mundane_Emu8921@reddit
You mean when Kamala Harris personally tailored her economic agenda for millionaires?
She had Wallstreet literally proofread her speeches.
Anneisabitch@reddit
Yeah I agree with you. We alreadyran two very capable women and we lost to fucking Trump.
_El_Bokononista_@reddit
We alreadyran two very capable women
Cliton? Hahahah
Mundane_Emu8921@reddit
Hilary was so unpopular that even during the 90’s during Clinton’s re-election, she brought his poll numbers down.
IlllIlIlIIIlIlIlllI@reddit
And Harris was more capable? Hahaha
Blue387@reddit
At least Harris actually campaigned in the midwest unlike Hillary who took them for granted, ran a louder social media presence and volunteers across the battleground states. But she was running a marathon with concrete shoes.
_El_Bokononista_@reddit
I can't say. She was politically neutered by Biden himself from the beginning.
However, personally? Nah...
Anneisabitch@reddit
Look, was she a good person, no. But comparing Clinton vs Trump? She is obviously more qualified.
_El_Bokononista_@reddit
She was never a good person. And yeah "at least it is not trump" is not working
eightNote@reddit
clinton's big crime was not baking pies when she was first lady
thats what all views on her competence come from
Dramatical45@reddit
I thought it was from all the lies and the near stereotypical sleazy politican stuff she did. Heck she didn't even campaign in some states she needed to win. Competence is not something that should be ascribed to her.
PointMeAtADoggo@reddit
Why are these “very capable” women, are they in the room with us right now?
sadderall-sea@reddit
two center-right women who ha e been established via legacy party politics for decades. one was a cop, and the other had vlbeen involved in some of the most intense democrat centered complaints for the last quarter century
BurialA12@reddit
She won the popular vote during 2008 Primary against obama
Testiclese@reddit
No it won’t. Just you and the other 20-something’s who didn’t even show up for Bernie at the 2020 primaries. You constantly overestimate your numbers.
BarelyEvolved@reddit
The flaw in this theory is that there was a huge pool of voters who sat out the last election because Harris wasn't progressive enough.
If that's true, where have they been the last 10 years?
Also, why do polls show conservatives gaining ground in the youth vote if going left will fix their problems?
SpontaneousFlame@reddit
30% of US voters don’t vote. If that’s not an indication that neither party appeals to them I don’t know what is…
Commissar_Elmo@reddit
One party only being full of techno fascists should be enough to sway any sane person with a sense of morality and empathy.
The pure fact that 30% of US voters decided against voting, and to hurt other Americans, was because of greed and a “what’s in it for me” attitude.
The American people are selfish, self serving narcissists, and I say this as an American. Anyone with a moral compass should have been able to see that abstention or a Trump vote would be immoral.
SpontaneousFlame@reddit
The 30% who are not voting aren’t the problem. The political parties are the problem. You have the rusted on republican voters - they will vote republican even if Trump vows to bankrupt them individually, by name, while torturing their families. It’s just what they do.
You have the rusted on Democrat voters. They vote because they are terrified of republicans and they don’t really mind that 90% of what Democratic nominees say they will do they abandon without a fight because the republicans objected to it.
Between those two what the heck is the point of voting, really? Deep poverty abounds, and no one will address it. People are so afraid of going to the doctor because they know it will ruin them and their families, and the doctor will let them die anyway because it’s safer than getting sued. All while worried that their kids might be shot in school, either by a nutcase with a gun or a fucking cop wondering around fully armed in a fucking school full of 12 year olds.
The problem is not the people, it’s the political parties. Really it’s the democrats walking further and further right so the whole systems absurd now.
Commissar_Elmo@reddit
If you want more party options, vote in a way that gets arid of the worst of the worst first.
You can’t organize without cleaning up first.
Just like you can’t have more than a 2 party system until the republicans are gone.
SpontaneousFlame@reddit
See, that’s just wrong. The primaries are obviously a joke and are just what senior democrats leaders pick. Clinton and Harris proved that.
You can have more than two parties. The messaging that “you have to vote for one of us” is joint messaging from two parties that have far more similarities than differences and that don’t want to have reduced influence.
Commissar_Elmo@reddit
The only way you are going to get more than a two party system is by eliminating one existing party and replacing it with a new one. And that should be the Republicans.
Wipe the republicans off the map, then run a new party against the democrats after.
SpontaneousFlame@reddit
That’s still a two party system. Hence why it’s called that. There needs to be real choice - 5 or 6 parties, minimum, no single party controlling the house and the senate, genuine presidential choice.
eightNote@reddit
not necessarily leftist, but trump had an idea of where to push the US, where everyone else just wants to stay the course, the GWB terminology
Testiclese@reddit
Most Leftist/Prog policies are deeply unpopular. They/thems, trans women in women’s sports, BLM, “defund the police”, DEI - all of it - was thrown on the garbage heap of history this past election.
All of it.
It’s hilarious you think the Dems need to double-down on all that when it’s precisely why Trump won. Amazing.
The true tragedy is that voters associated Harris with those failed ideas even as she tried to distance herself from the more extreme positions. Unsuccessfully.
“Kamala Harris is for they/them. Donald Trump is for you”. This was the most effective ad of the campaign, played over 30k times in each swing State, and swung the vote towards Trump by 2.7 points. https://www.nytimes.com/2024/11/07/us/politics/trump-win-election-harris.html
But this is Reddit, of course, echo chamber extraordinaire, so naturally, we’ll ignore real world data and instead do the Leftie equivalent of a Lemming death march by doubling down on failed tactics. Until morale improves.
Fossilfires@reddit
I love the contortions you have to pull to avoid admitting the stagnant centrist shit she did run on was exactly what destroyed her.
The same exact clown shit that lost to Trump the first time.
Testiclese@reddit
The Left was calling her “Kamala the Kop” and accusing of her of being a “genocide enabler”. The Right was calling her (correctly) a DEI hire.
She had no chance. But not because she wasn’t Left enough. Only the Left likes the Left.
Fossilfires@reddit
Sounds like she should have made better choices in her career. Where does this delirious idea come from that she's not in any way accountable for her moral choices, including defending the utterly indefensible in Palestine, and acting with cruelty and ignorance as a prosecutor?
How did you ever convince yourself that these things could be swept under the rug or removed from the conversation? I'm sorry, but what an intellectual faceplant on your part to have conjured a world where these things don't matter in an election. Were you on her campaign team?
Testiclese@reddit
“What did you do to stop Fascism in America, Dad?”
“Well, son, the alternative was someone who wasn’t as perfect as Jesus and we decided to throw the baby away with the bath water”
“So you let everything get destroyed because you let perfect get in the way of good?”
“Well, yes. Screw your future, my boy. I have my principles. And it’s not my fault. It’s her fault for having skeletons in the closet!”
“Bud don’t all politicians have skeletons in the closet, dad?”
“Well, yes, but the most important thing is to stay true to your principles. Even as we watch the current President send people to secret prisons in El Salvador without trial, I feel good about my choices, because…”
And then I can’t finish your thought. I’m out of ideas.
Fossilfires@reddit
Leaders are only responsible for their actions in history, apparently, never the living ones. If you had any sense, this screed would be pointed at the party members who took the actual rewards for donor appeasement.
As for the weak-minded lesser evil bullshit...its a dangerous game that ALWAYS runs out. You know it runs out. You and the party leadership had no excuse to think it wouldn't run out this time.
Commissar_Elmo@reddit
These are literally right talking points.
Not once have I met anyone on the left use either of those, unless they weren’t actually on the left and were just saying so to gaslight people.
Testiclese@reddit
Great for you, bud. I live in a college town. Pretty big college here. I know numerous people who talk like that. The type that think anyone right of Bernie is Mussolini.
Commissar_Elmo@reddit
I do aswell. I am a college student, I have yet to meet anyone on the left, even avid Palestine supporters, say any of that.
Testiclese@reddit
I don’t know what you’re getting at. That somehow your lived experience completely invalidates mine or something?
Great. I had a normal interaction with a cop recently. Ergo - there’s zero issues with police brutality in the US?
eightNote@reddit
those just arent leftist policies. theyre liberal capitalist ones
the point of DEI is to make more consumers for capitalism, and make capital more efficient. its about integrating people into capitalism, when people dont particularly want capitalism as it is. if luigi ran for president, he'd probably win, based on murdering capitalists
Testiclese@reddit
Ah. So the most extreme Leftist brain rot isn’t Leftist enough for you. Easily the most deranged thing I’ve read today.
lostboy005@reddit
Leftist policies or pro labor not the SJW shit ur ranting on about
Testiclese@reddit
No they’re not. They haven’t been since Obama. They used to be that when Democrats were winning elections. The Democrats have been decidedly losing the working class voter for multiple election cycles precisely because of the hyper focus on SJW shit.
You’re talking about how the world should be. I’m talking about how it currently is.
lostboy005@reddit
Yeah we agree fundamentally - I just don’t think Obama was left or center left, dudes a neolib and Dems since Bill Clinton have been neoliberal. What’s the saying? Bill took the Dem party to far right it drove republicans and conservatives off the edge of reason?
I agree that in some dumbing down of conventional politics and propaganda left, to the average US citizen, means what you describe above re SJW shit
In a country where the only truth to be found in politics is to follow the money, social political SJW issues are a distraction. People look at gay marriage like this moment of progress while SCOTUS ruled on citizens united. One these issues means a helluva lot more than the other. Just an example. I am all for people marrying whatever or whoever.
Testiclese@reddit
Clinton and Obama’s two Electoral College victories were so impressive, we were writing books on how the Republican Party was doomed by 2020. The only solid demographic blocks the Republicans had on lock were neocons and Bible thumpers. We started seriously talking about Blue Texas. Today - NJ is a swing State.
It’s hard for me to hate on Neolib Presidents when those two Presidents specifically drove the Republicans to the brink of extinction.
I’ll take a “terrible” Neolib World Order any day over whatever Christo-Fascist-Nationalist thing we ended up with now.
Then again - that Order was incapable of dealing with income inequality and the host of other issues (like men’s estrangement from society) and all the Dems were blabbing about was how we needed to disband the police and how not having tampons in men’s bathrooms was “genocide”.
It drove me absolutely batshit insane listening to Lefties tell me how the Dems were the real “fascists” because of Gaza when it was precisely Leftist stupidity in 2016 that gave us the current SCOTUS gang that ruled the way it ruled on Citizens United and on unchecked Executive power.
And now we are witnessing the dissolution of the Legislative and Judicial branches in real time. But it was worth it because we massively improved the plight of Palestinians. Right?!
We are in the beginning stages of being a Banana Republic because the Left thinks the Dems are too Center, the Center thinks they’re too Left, and the Right thinks they’re all p**dophile reptilians or whatever Theo Von is on about today.
jorel43@reddit
Democrats ran as progressives. It was the moderates and Independents that stayed home on election Day, not progressive.
SpontaneousFlame@reddit
Democrats ran on “not Trump but the Cheneys love us!” Oh, and PEP. No one was impressed.
SirShrimp@reddit
Trump is basically Hitler revisited, that's why we decided to basically take his policy position on several key issues.
Furepubs@reddit
It's not Biden that sank Democrats, it's people like you who will attack Democrat while Trump destroys America.
Congratulations you are doing Putin's work for him. You are a good little sheep
_El_Bokononista_@reddit
I'm South American. Believe me, I don't need to be a little Putin sheep to decide the destruction of "America". That said, I have no power. You, the mostly democratic country on the world, are doing it on your own.
Thanks
Furepubs@reddit
Not even close
Republicans have been cheating for at least 25 years
They don't care at all about democracy
Well, you might change your mind when Trump starts to try and conquer the world.
He has already asked our military to come up with invasion plans for Panama. It's funny to me that you think you are safe
_El_Bokononista_@reddit
Again, south American here
Well, you might change your mind when Trump starts to try and conquer the world.
You tried that on us so many times. Democrats and Republicans alike
Furepubs@reddit
I did not say coup, I said conquer
Maybe you don't understand the difference
_El_Bokononista_@reddit
Oh god...
Do you think Trump will invade with an army and conquer, hm... Brazil? Do you even that is possible
You can answer me via PM
Furepubs@reddit
I don't know what he will do
He is a lunatic who craves power and worship.
The similarities between him and Hitler are huge
This is not good for anybody
_El_Bokononista_@reddit
If you are worried about SA, you can sleep soundly.
Furepubs@reddit
I am worried about the future of the world.
Elon bought the presidency for Trump and is dismantling our government.
I am not convinced we will ever have fair elections again or that trump will ever leave office, I am sure that is the goal
Elon and Trump are promoting fascist and racist leaders so over the world, Canada Germany Austria. Billionaires are trying to take over everything and using fascism to do it
If you want to know what I think is happening, watch this video
zootbot@reddit
“Oh democrats overthrew your democratically elected leader and put in place a US puppet??? Well at least they didn’t annex your country like trump is gonna do”
Bro stop and listen to yourself.
Mundane_Emu8921@reddit
They don’t stand for anything.
Being lukewarm on a handful of social issues isn’t good enough. They are ineffective and don’t actually improve anyone’s life.
If you have to ask someone “in the know” to rattle off “accomplishments” then they aren’t accomplishments. Political accomplishments speak for themself.
Why would people vote for Diet Republican when they can just vote for the full thing?
dearbokeh@reddit
No one wants to do good things. They just want to complain and point fingers.
Radiant-Ad-4853@reddit
the dems are walking dinasaurs all their top people are past their 80s

Controlled opposition isn’t real opposition
Why would people want to choose between obviously evil right wing corporate slaves and less evil right wing corporate slaves?
Sure one isn’t obviously evil but they are all still decrepit old corporate slaves
SchmuckTornado@reddit
Ask the women dying of pregnancy complications why people would want to choose. Ask the American citizen child with cancer who was wrongly deported why people would want to choose. As the thousands of government employees who just lost their jobs why people would want to choose.
Only a complete braindead fucking moron can still attempt to paint it as “evil and slightly less evil corporate right wing slaves.”
SpontaneousFlame@reddit
So why did so many Americans vote Trump?
SchmuckTornado@reddit
Stupidity/bigotry/greed in various amount amongst various groups.
salisboury@reddit
Too bad that it won’t result in significant change because, sooner or later, Americans will grow tired of the Republicans. Handing the spotlight back to the Democrats, until the cycle inevitably repeats. The endless pendulum swing of American politics. No real alternative, just two sides of the same coin, maintaining the illusion of choice for a population that understands the absurdity of the two-party system but refuses to break free. Instead, they cling to the fear that voting outside the duopoly means “handing victory to the communists/fascists [or insert whatever other buzzword they can come up with]”
SoldierGame@reddit
Yeah if social media existed in its current form in 2008 or 2012 you'd millions of posts of how republicans are doomed

Y'all constantly forget the one rule that separates this sub from other world news subs: no US/India/China only content. A lot of people from the US use this sub to pierce the veil of our walled garden, and a lot of people outside the three aforementioned countries come here to do the same because of how oppressive US/Indian/Chinese media can be.
