Those heavy wreckers are sitting around waiting to collect all that $$$$$
SkinnyG80@reddit
Bet they get a nice few days reset tho
HexDanTHEWHALE@reddit
Truck #5 was probably a power-only Owner-Op and said "Naw! $0.98/mile ain't worth my truck!" and dropped that charity run load!
j-stout82@reddit
Drivers are always taking the risks.
___Divergent___@reddit
Anyone know why the police still continued to let them drive?
I feel like there must have been a reason as to why all of these driver's still continued to go on despite clearly seeing that the wind was way too strong for driving.
Was it to drive and stop to a safer place?
angrydeuce@reddit
Maybe they no speaka da English?
Aromatic-Scratch3481@reddit
The fuck would speaking English have to do with cops stopping truckers from driving?
Flat-House5529@reddit
Winner winner chicken dinner.
angrydeuce@reddit
I mean to be clear I dont care if people speak other languages in their day to day but like airline pilots, anyone operating a vehicle in a commercial capacity should be required to have a functional level of English skills and be tested on this in real world examples/scenarios. You can't fly a plane legally in this country without being able to communicate with Air Traffic Control and this is absolutely a requirement, and dispatch/police are pretty much the truckers ATC, so I don't understand why that would be a stretch to anyone.
mwonch@reddit
It has been a requirement for decades. Just not enforced. Labor dump issues, you see
whitecollarpizzaman@reddit
English is actually the universal language of ATC. You can watch videos out of Asia and see pilots doing cockpit activities in their native language, but communicating with ATC in English.
angrydeuce@reddit
That's what Im saying, it's already enforced for pilots globally, there's no reason why it can't be better enforced for CDLs domestically. Someone with atrociously poor english skills entering american airspace would quickly accrue a military escort, and while I aint saying they need to be rolling tanks at drivers that cant have a conversation on the radio they need to at least make sure they're able to understand basic, operational english when it comes to being on the roads. There are potentially just as many lives at stake as with a plane crash if you think about it, depending on what people are hauling.
Flat-House5529@reddit
What is logical and what is our reality on a daily basis are drifting further and further apart every day.
halfcow@reddit
Because people invite the opportunity to scream, "Racism!." Your comment is very well-articulated, and racism is not even a part of this discussion. But in most posts on here, people will make an accusation of racism, just because you think drivers should speak English. Language is not a race.
Troubador222@reddit
What language does the wind blow in?
angrydeuce@reddit
Unfortunately not a language that the drivers involved understand most likely, much like English.
I mean, come on now, we're not really going to pretend like there aren't tons of people on the road that lack even a basic understanding of English to parse a high winds warning, right? Im not even just talking about immigrants here, there are plenty of illiterate ignorant fucks that were born right here in the US of A on the road with us, too.
Troubador222@reddit
It’s a shame phone apps don’t work in other languages
angrydeuce@reddit
Because dicking with a phone for translation is precisely the kind of thing we want people doing behind the wheel when they're blowing by the flashing sign they dont understand at 60mph.
whitecollarpizzaman@reddit
You know that weather apps and things like that have translate features? I agree drivers should have basic English skills but you're really mixing up "don't speak English" and "stupid." If you tried to go work in Germany you'd probably sound like an idiot too. The cops should have been blocking the road here, there's a reason the camera guy set up here.
angrydeuce@reddit
I never said stupid. I dont think people that can't speak English are stupid. Hell, I give mad props to people that *can* speak their mother tongue in addition to English...all I have are a bunch of curse words in various tongues and a passing ability to speak broken-assed Spanglish, along with a slightly less than passing ability to read ancient latin (super useful skill, believe me). Anyone that learns English in addition to their native language is definitely smarter than me.
But the number of people on the road operating commercial vehicles that are incapable of communicating in English is frankly pretty astounding. This has nothing to do with culture or intelligence, and everything to do with safety. Being able to understand, and make yourself understood, in the same language as everyone else when you're working in a commercial capacity is required for safe operating. There's only so much you can say in pidgin sign language.
palebd@reddit
Nah. Bet they're trump voters. Not the brightest bunch out there. "God will save me"
mts6175@reddit
They shut just about every major road in the area. Had one of my trucks get stuck there Friday night.
JColeTheWheelMan@reddit
If you're ever in this situation and have enough time to come to a stop, jackknife your tractor so that its facing downwind. If you can turn the truck/trailer footprint into a triangle it will be a lot more stable. Or if your insurance is great and your truck is a sinking ship financially, ignore this.
yazzooClay@reddit
it looks like speeding up is the best strat?
mwonch@reddit
In wind? No. The opposite.
In THAT wind? Nothing but luck and the direct blessing from God Himself will help
Bensch_man@reddit
Last one was fuckin famous. Bet he or she experienced this more then one time.
mwonch@reddit
I don’t think you know what famous means
misterstaple@reddit
Don't turn against the wind go in the dirt
Ep1cR4g3@reddit
That blue kw had no chance to react, was probably lying close to 100mph gust. Just knocked it right over
NJNeal17@reddit
Someone interview that last driver!
Annual-Skill-7432@reddit
Kudos to that prime driver. God bless. I wonder if the white freightliner made it out okay after that steer tire left the chat.
rosiecar@reddit
Was that the last one? I couldn't make out the livery on that one.
Annual-Skill-7432@reddit
Yeah. It was the last one. Prime Inc has the black and white brick letters.
I find it unnerving that it was KWs rolling over in the video.
Riyeko@reddit
Red volvo
Expensive-Plum-5759@reddit
Its kinda sad, like watching a cow get tipped.
from what I remember, the defensive driver training I went through they said to cut the wheel into the drop. But honestly at those speeds thats really not happening at all.
datdudeuheardof@reddit
Keep those tandems slid all the way back. Stop being lazy and get out the truck when it's windy. Guy disconnecting the empty could have saved it from tipping by doing so, didn't look like it was going to completely tip with the truck connected anyways. Definitely wouldn't have tipped with tandems slid back.
TellTaleTimeLord@reddit
Brothers and sisters, whatever is in that truck is not worth your safety.
Please pull over.
Tovarich_Zaitsev@reddit
Shit like this is why I'm glad I drive a flat deck.
Jimjam916@reddit
I'm parking for winds over 55. That shit is scarier than ice
hufusa@reddit
What’s going on here??? Is this like a testing ground or something why are so many trucks passing through seeing that all those other ones are tipped over 😭😭
Auquaholic@reddit
And the cops are just there making bets and shit.
homucifer666@reddit
"I see that others are having trouble, but I'll get through because I'm special."
icy_penguins@reddit
Good old Texas panhandle wind
2stinkynugget@reddit
Seriously. Drove through Amarillo in a VW bus. The wind was so strong the bus could only get up to 35mph. And I was exhausted from trying to keep it on the road.
Beekatiebee@reddit
I lived out there for a year or so, my little 1985 Toyota Pickup really struggled on windy days lmao.
icy_penguins@reddit
40mph winds are pretty much a daily thing, the 80+ winds are a rarity but they do happen. Barb wire fences don't do much to slow it down.
halfcow@reddit
That 2nd truck. I'm amazed at how far the wind kept pushing it, even after it was laid over.
Funny-Ar@reddit
Probably empty trailer. Still I'm impressed how wind pushed the truck that much .
palebd@reddit
Bet he was empty
12InchPickle@reddit
Why would anyone drive through this? Idiots.
xxenoscionxx@reddit
At some point it’s just physics, regardless of skill. Call me a pussy but over 50 , loaded. I am stopping. Empty much less. It’s hard to justify a life or multiple for dunnage.
AgentOmegaNM@reddit
Yep. Who looks at winds of that speed and goes “yeah, I can send it”?
I’ve been made fun of in my office by a few guys because I’ll shut down in winds of a certain speed depending on if I’m empty or loaded and how heavy I’m loaded. I’d rather lose some miles than lose the whole truck and get hurt or worse.
casino_night@reddit
Agreed. Checking the weather should be a part of everyone's pretrip routine. It only takes a few minutes.
Theboywgreenscarf@reddit
A good share of people don’t even wash their hands after using the restroom. You think they’re checking weather?
VenomousP0ison@reddit
Last clip man that save was beautiful
TwoInchTammy@reddit
And it was a Prime even lol
jimmybugus33@reddit
Exactly forget those tires
Wizard_with_a_Pipe@reddit
That Prime driver at the end. Nice save!!
ChaceEdison@reddit
That was definitely some impressive driving skill to know exactly how to counter that roll. That man knows his equipment well.
DirtyOldTrucker68@reddit
I was thinking the same thing. Hope he got clean underwear.
Fan-_-@reddit
The white truck with reefer looks like it was drifting hard and lost the hub cover
noamgboi1@reddit
He did, even tho he saved the truck, now he got another issue to take care of.
Riyeko@reddit
Well at least he will be stopped instead of driving.
Mr_BinJu@reddit
Wait wait wait. Your telling me something that is large, flat, has a hjgh center of gravity and doesn't weigh much will get tipped over from high wind?! Your out of your mind and next your gonna tell me the earth is round. Lmao morons
Jaycool10@reddit
Piss Poor Planning = Piss Poor Results I pray that everyone involved is ok!
J_Taylor85@reddit
Seems like each one was thinking “ah I can make it through no problem”
Expert_Employment680@reddit
Woah! What are you suppose to do about your trucker that flipped?
randomlemon9192@reddit (OP)
Wait until it’s not windy, then call a wrecker?
Expert_Employment680@reddit
Yikes, a bad day at work lol
BeforeLifer@reddit
Wait for the wind to die down and wait for the heavy wreckers to come in and flip everyone.
bob696988@reddit
Not me I went and parked and went to the big texan and had a great dinner. No load worth the risk !!
Skinnywomenlover@reddit
All of their licenses should be pulled for this you are not only dangerous to yourself but to others around plus DOT should shut the road down for CMVs till the wind slowed but nonetheless just utter carelessness
skeletons_asshole@reddit
Was out in that last week. Made me glad to be driving a flatbed.
Right up until I got to where I was loading, anyway. Took a lot of time and creativity to get everything tarped and strapped down, and that was with the warehouse’s help. Also my lungs will probably be a different color for a while.
Purgieeeee@reddit
all foreigners LOL
