Hey guys i currently am running a ryzen5 3600 and a 2060 and im thinking of picking up a cyber power prebuilt with a 7800x3d and a gigabyte 9070xt yall think thats a worthy upgrade that will future proof me for a while?
ChipCob1@reddit
Hi did you go for this in the end? I'm considering going for the same set up.
Interesting-Mud620@reddit (OP)
Went to exactly that and its been absolutely great
ChipCob1@reddit
Brilliant cheers!
Inevitable-Ratio-100@reddit
I have that exact build. I upgraded from a ryzen 5 5600 and rtx 3070. I feel like it was a huge upgrade from my previous pc. It should keep you in the game for around 5 years.
XsoiledtrojanX@reddit
Sorry to necro a post, but I'm doing exactly this same upgrade today. Are you still happy with it? Wish you'd have waited and done something differently??
Majestic_Iron_6494@reddit
This upgrade will feel like night and day. I went from a 2080 super / i7-10700kf to Ryzen 7 7800x3d / 5070ti. Circumstantial, but my FPS doubled on the games I play.
Screamingsutch@reddit
I currently have a 10700k and 2080 and was planning this upgrade, think you have sealed it for me
Majestic_Iron_6494@reddit
Still highly recommend! I’ve since upgraded to 4k and get more FPS than I did on my previous build at 1080p.
Puzzleheaded-Pay-496@reddit
Massive upgrade. I’m running 9800x3d with 9070xt and extremely happy so far. I was coming from a 3080ti laptop. What is the rest of the spec?
Salt-Cryptographer77@reddit
Has the 9800x3d died yet this is why ill just go 7800x3d not gonna rosk 409 for it to mess up my system 😅
Cyberthief86@reddit
bro same came from a 3080ti to the 9070xt smooth clean perfect
MrDarwoo@reddit
What resolution you running? My 9070xt comes next week
deputydogg38@reddit
I just installed my 9070 xt, upgraded from a 3080. I run at 4k and the performance gains were huge for me.
MrDarwoo@reddit
Awesome, will I need a 4k monitor to take full advantage or will 1440p be okay for the 9800x3d and 9070xt?
deputydogg38@reddit
I wouldn't rush right out to upgrade to 4k, but know that if you do, that combo will run it just fine. I was gaming in 4k on a 6yr old Intel i9 with a 3080 before I built my 9800x3d/9070xt. I loved 4k on my old setup and now with the new one, oh boy it's a huge improvement.
Puzzleheaded-Pay-496@reddit
Nice! I’m currently running 1440p
Top-Baby8269@reddit
Are you running EXPO and with what mem kit? What is your motherboard? I'm asking cause I'm afraid buying a 9800X3D cause apparently there's an issue frying CPUs and specifically 9800x3Ds
Puzzleheaded-Pay-496@reddit
I think those issues are rare, and yes I’m running my ram at 6400mhz
G.Skill Trident Z5 F5-6400J3239G16GX2-TR5S 32GB (2 x 16GB) 6400 MHz DDR5
I went for the B650 MSI MAG Tomahawk
aztecaoro10@reddit
Is yours a pre build?
Puzzleheaded-Pay-496@reddit
No I did the build myself. Glad I did too.
DefinetlyNotAmulen@reddit
I'm planning my build with that exact combo and I've heard really good things about it
SkulL_WhIte@reddit
the cpu is not too weak for this gpu?
tomgun41@reddit
The second best gaming cpu and latest gen gpu from AMD! Yes of course it will be good, but at what price? And what is the rest of system speced at?
FLDom6377@reddit
Found the ryzen 7800x3d at 400 bucks, is it worth the money?
tomgun41@reddit
Not a bad price I'd say.
Primus_is_OK_I_guess@reddit
3rd best now
Top-Baby8269@reddit
Which are N1 and N2?
Primus_is_OK_I_guess@reddit
9950x3d and 9800x3d
Interesting-Mud620@reddit (OP)
I hope the link i put works i dont use reddit much lol
Famous_Aspect_8714@reddit
Solid upgrade, im using this specs running mhwilds the most unoptimized game ever, tackled this thing in 1440p ultra settings RT, with average 200 fps with FG.
Organic_Fun258@reddit
hey im looking to make the same build. what are your other specs if u dont mind me asking since its my first build and how r the temps and fan noise. and any other popular triple AAA titles u tried. pls lmk thanks
bonus_duk2@reddit
"solid upgrade" it's gonna be like 3 times as much performance
Newuser60608@reddit
Where is the link? How much?
danielmutter@reddit
Definingly. What is ram amount? I know it's atleast 16 gb's DDR5. If you have 32gbs of DDR5 and because you have SO MUCH VRAM and an AM5 socket, your good man.
IllustriousLook-5492@reddit
I would do it, but i would also try to find a prebuilt with the same cpu but a better nvidia gpu or a 7900xtx for the same price or just a little more expensive for a better gpu.
Explosivpotato@reddit
The 9070xt is within 5% of the 7900xtx in most tests, and as far as we know they aren’t making the xtx anymore. Also, I suspect a 5070ti (which is only slightly better than the 9070xt unless you’re ray tracing) would be significantly more expensive.
If you can get a 5070ti for the same price do it, but I wouldn’t just blanket recommend NVIDIA anymore. It depends on availability and price.
IllustriousLook-5492@reddit
Yeah thats why i said a better nvidia gpu if he can find a prebuilt for the same price or just a little more, and at this moment they don't have anything newer than a 9070xt on amd's side thats why i said nvidia. A 7900xtx is still a very good choice, i would recommend choosing it over a 9070ti in a prebuilt if its the same price or 50 bucks more. I've had both and i would pick amd, the software is just so much better looking and works better to. Much easier to work with. And with a 7900xtx its been out for a while so they fixed a lot of the bugs and issues that they had. With the 5070ti and 9070xt there gonna have bugs and issues for a while.
Minimum-Business-593@reddit
9070ti?
Pelgrin21@reddit
How much for the prebuilt? I rather build my own get better quality for the same prize or cheaper with prebuilts your limited if you want to upgrade in the future.
Patatostrike@reddit
Huge upgrade but make sure it's fairly priced.
Objective-Smoke-7550@reddit
I just Sold my Ryzen 3600 with a Gigabyte B450 MB, 16GB ram, RX 6600 GPU 500W PSU and an open frame for 250.00 to a guy at work with an old Alienware that is dying. Just upgraded my BIOS, replaced a 6 with an 8 Core AMD 7800X3d, Fri 7th Grabbed the RX9070 Reaper for MSRP at Micro Center, from 32 - 64GB ram, an Xtra 1TB M.2. The GPU was replacing the RX7700 16GB one that I had. All in my gaming rig. have the RX 7600 8GB in my desktop. Still have not moved over to AM5, and the Open frame rig was used to Distro Hop Linux, but has been sitting for a year. I offered a good price to just get rid of it. Also gonna give him an ASUS 27" 165Hz Monitor, just switched mine to a 32"Curved 4K.
Sugardog1@reddit
Solid upgrade, what about the rest of your build? How much RAM, are you on an ssd, what's your motherboard? From what you posted it should be night and day difference.
I recently went from the same Ryzen 5 3600, 3050 rtx, and 64 gb ddr4. Just upped it to Ryzen 9 9950x, 5080 rtx, 96gb ddr5 5600, and a ROG crosshair x870e hero mobo. It's so much faster than my old PC it's ridiculous.
EvoShock12@reddit
I'm currently running RTX 3050 TI (Laptop) and AMD Ryzen 5 5600H. I plan on buying an AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D and AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT build. Heard the 9070 is pretty good so I'm hoping this upgrade lasts and carries me through games :D
Conanius@reddit
I had this spec for about a week…. And now have a 9950X3D.
There is a difference, but honestly it’s almost totally unjustifiable for the average person.
Great setup
Cheap-Ad2945@reddit
What resolution are you on ?
Why not stick to AM4 with 5700x3d and just upgrade the GPU
Interesting-Mud620@reddit (OP)
I want to run everything in high settings at 1440 and id like to just modernize you know and i figured id future proof some with am5 and dont mind doing a entire new setup and giving my old setup to my buddy
Primus_is_OK_I_guess@reddit
Don't listen to these people. The 5700x3d is a great CPU, but it really doesn't make sense to buy one at today's prices, and you will absolutely get better performance with a 7800x3d at 1440p.
diac13@reddit
You easily run everything at ultra + RT on, on 1440p with a 5700X3D and 9070XT. the 5700X3D doesn't bottleneck it.
I play Cyberpunk at 60+ fps at 4k with RT ultra and FSR4 with the same setup.
atonyatlaw@reddit
It's an amazing pain in the ass to buy a loose 9070xt right now if you are going to keep from paying a scalper, though.
Cheap-Ad2945@reddit
X3D actually helps a lot in most modern game dou. You can still get high fps with AM4.
But if you do plan to give your friend your current build then I supposed you can do the upgrade.
But personally I do just upgrade to 5700x3d.
_AfterBurner0_@reddit
I had that exact GPU/CPU combo one year ago. I went to a 5700X3D and 7900 GRE. This setup should keep me strong for at least 4 more years. And the parts you're after are better than mine. So yeah, you're gonna be set for a long, long time.
TBL8882@reddit
Def worth it. I recently got a 7800x3d with a 4080 super and it obliterates everything so u def should be safe
Ok_Veterinarian_9611@reddit
lol defo you’ll feel the difference, might wanna get a new monitor also :)
netscorer1@reddit
That’s an excellent upgrade. You will be all set with 1440p gaming for a while and even with some 4K gaming if you’re willing to turn up FSR.
Interesting-Mud620@reddit (OP)
Rest of the specs are rgb aio, 2tb of PCIe gen4, 32g ddr5 6000 MHz, gigabyte b850 gaming mother board, 850watt power supply, gigabyte 9070xt oc version, and than one of thier cases with all rgb stuff. Hope this helps
HamM00dy@reddit
As long as the power supply is at least gold certified and you're okay with the cost of the pre-built. It seems like very solid for highest settings 1440p
Cwxn@reddit
Same build as I have, you'll be fine and if you want to go from 7800x3d to 9950x3d in the future bcs it's still am5 you can.
PHIGBILL@reddit
Worthy upgrade yes, but really depends on the price of the pre-built if it's actually worth it financially.
KFC_Junior@reddit
if you want future proofing id honestly recommend a nvidia gpu, you actually get new technology support which keeps it relevant for longer
LukeLikesReddit@reddit
I've got the 7800x3d and 7800xt and it works great. Better GPU can't see why it wouldn't be better.

I haave the same, I think it is.
