Happened when my codriver was on the wheel, said the poor girl driving the car was so scared she was full of tears, thoughts?

Poor girl was crying and scared according to my codriver, cant imagine having a dickhead trucker break checking me and all that, when he passed her he braked right away

Makes me wonder what happened before the video starts. Nothing excuses the behavior, but Driver was clearly targeting her and I'd like to know why.
View on Reddit #5326002

afa78@reddit

Going slow in what the trucker perceives to be his lane? Maybe the girl just merged onto the fwy and failed to accelerate up to speed in time for the trucker to not have to slow down for her and instead swerved around her and proceeded to be a jackass instead? I see this a lot but I keep in mind that not all vehicle makes and models are the same, some simply don't have the horsepower to match the speed of an 18 wheeler at full speed, while they're on a onramp with only a few yards available. 🤷. Not for one second does the girl look to do anything aggressive that might hint at her being the culprit or trying to escalate things either.

WIbigdog@reddit

My bet is it's someone who can't go one speed and kept speeding up when he tried to pass. It's by far one of the most frustrating things 4 wheelers do, but it certainly doesn't justify retaliating like this.
View on Reddit #5334459

cenobyte40k@reddit

Yeah cause everyone loves the trucks passing each other at 0.5mph faster while both go under the speed limit. I have never been on the highway for more than a few hours, and had this not happen to me. I don't attack the drivers over it though, just wonder why they think they are more important than the 100 cars they have piled up behind them.
View on Reddit #5347755

Apprehensive_Many214@reddit

Cars are only temporarily slowed down and can easily just press the peddle down and make up any time lost. Trucks can't do that when climbing hills. Any speed they lose is lost for good. They have appointments that mean money, often thousands. Ive never seen hundreds of cars blocked by a truck passing another. Thats just juvenile sensationalism. If you dont want so many trucks on the road, stop buying stuff... ever.
View on Reddit #16025541

cenobyte40k@reddit

A) not on hills they do it everywhere. B) when they block the road for 20 minutes going 60 in a 70 no its not ok. C) being a selfish asshole costing everyone including lots of work trucks and transports it costs everyone more than that one truck load going .25mph faster loosing everyone else 15mph. D) the traffic jams they cause cause accidents and other issues. So I guess you are ok with deaths and damage so that trucks gets to the transfer center 1 minute earlier cause otherwise you can't buy things. Trucks are not more important than other transport.
View on Reddit #16035814

Apprehensive_Many214@reddit

Your entire ramble is nothing but exaggeration, Karen. I've got millions of miles, and I've NEVER seen any truck block a lane for 20 minutes. That's ridiculous. A few minutes at most. 90% of wrecks involving trucks are caused by 4wheelers like you. Impatient, impetuous, childish, entitled, steering wheel holders. You dont like trucks... STOP BUYING STUFF! You cause the heavy traffic, then cry about it. You cry about your Amazon delivery not arriving on time, then cry about it. Then you have the audacity to cry about the trucks bringing it. 😆😆😆
View on Reddit #16101838

cenobyte40k@reddit

You are either not paying attention or lying. It happens all the time. And if .25mph is the difference between late and on-time you should have left 5 minutes earlier for you 10hour drive. Meanwhile lots of dozen if not hundreds of people are loosing 10 minutes. It's selfish crap. Hell even if it only takes 5 minutes to pass its selfish crap. Backing up other people for that crap is an asshole move and it's why people no longer respect truckers.
View on Reddit #16137561

Apprehensive_Many214@reddit

You know nothing. lol I never said I'd hold up a passing lane if cars are there for .25 mph, so you need reading comprehension classes. 2nd... I told you the hours were federally mandated. So obviously we cant start driving earlier, Einstein. Thats an expensive hours violation. Now I think you'd better hit those after-Xmas sales to find yourself a clue.
View on Reddit #16360671

cenobyte40k@reddit

You justify your behavior over and over and then say you don't do it. You suggest that you need to hold up traffic to pass cause you have fed limits on time but you are ligterally making up 1 minute in 4 hours while costing hundreds of hours for the people you hold up, some also operating under those same rules. Your selfish and lack reasoning. Your logic and rhetorical skills explain why you ended up driving for a living. Something they can teach people with a 75iq to do. Not all truckers are idiots but well ones that drive like you condone give the rest a bad name. BTW very little of what I buy shows up in your trash box. Your assumptions are telling about the world. You are not special or indispensable. Humanity would get on fine without 75% or more of truckers.
View on Reddit #16398636

Apprehensive_Many214@reddit

And yet again, you're trying to say I would pass for a quarter mile per hour. You went on a whole rant about something I never said. You're a certified idiot. I can teach you about trucking, but I can't teach reading comprehension. ffs Typical window-licking car driver.
View on Reddit #16410959

cenobyte40k@reddit

And yet again you pretend like you didn't defend it over and over again. If you don't do it and don't like it why defend it? Naw you lack logic and basic reason skills. It's why you think leaving 5 minutes earlier is the same as driving longer. You can't problem solve basic things. No wonder we have such issues with trucks.

My grandmother was on the highway once getting passed by a truck and unconsciously oriented on his truck rather than watching her speedometer. She said, "Come on, truck, pass me." in a tone which indicated that she thought that he really slowed his vehicle after pulling around her. Some people don't belong on the road anymore, but escalating against somebody like my grandmother can get people killed.

There are a lot of things people do that can get drivers wound up, but it doesn't always take anything that a reasonable person would understand as being too awful. My wife was only going 55 in a 45 construction zone once, and a couple of truckers got stuck behind us for a while. It was one of those construction zones that goes on forever and nobody can understand why. It was two trucks from the same company wouldn't let her pass once they got past us. They also went slow, so apparently they really weren't in a hurry anyway. They would go single file and then if she tried to pass, one of them would cut her off. This went on for over an hour until we finally gave up and pulled off at an exit.
View on Reddit #5351243

Rubes2525@reddit

I may hazard a guess and say she was creating a rolling traffic jam by driving 10-20mph under the speed limit (possibly texting too since that is frighteningly common on a slow driver). Road was clear ahead of her, and there were quite a few people passing with the truck. It also looks like she finally put the phone down and sped up as soon as she noticed the truck passing her (another annoyingly common thing with 4 wheelers).

Shit was not pretty my friend straight up without a second thought whipped out a handgun and shot behind us at the truck. Hit some other poor bastards car and then the truck just started slowling down. I was so fucking mad I didnt even know he had a gun on him ever. View on Reddit #5331226

_Vikinq@reddit

i do have a different view than most on speeding, theres a time and a place. Using a loaded truck is obviously not one of them, but under most circumstances, i tend to go 5-20 over if conditions are right. In residentials i feel 25 is too fast though and i will actually go to more like 20. all of that being said. my car can stop as fast as a porche 918 with my huge breaks. Thats what alot of people fail to realize
View on Reddit #5333821

Challenge-Upstairs@reddit

People also fail to realize that the speed limits were set in most places when the average car had twice the stopping distance that they have now, and nearly no safety features. Speeding isn't really what kills most people, or causes the most hazard on the road. Aggressive driving, changing lanes without signals or proper looking, cutting people off, and running lights and stop signs are what causes most of the danger on the road. There are plenty areas and times when it wouldn't be unsafe for most people to drive most vehicles at 90mph. Drive for the conditions, drive courteously, and pay attention.
View on Reddit #5412690

WhiteWolf_Ziri@reddit

This essentially says I am free to break the law whenever I feel it doesn't apply to me or my situation. Regardless of how many people around me might be endangered by my actions if something unplanned was to go wrong. That me and only me are responsible for my subjective observation of what is safe on a public forum. I am entitled to make these judgments as I see fit even though there are laws and rules every one is supposed to follow I'm just simply above that.
View on Reddit #5972445

Challenge-Upstairs@reddit

That's not at all what this is. First, it's an opinion of how safe the road would be IF certain conditions existed. It's not a call to break the law, and to drive 20mph over the limit. It's an opinion that it would be plenty safe to change the speed limits, by raising some and lowering others, based on the performance ability of the cars that are driving in the roads today (Note: this doesn't mean the most modern cars, as this would also not be representative of reality.) Second, the opinion is based off of data. I don't remember the study, or I would cite it, but there was a study done a few years ago, I believe out of Stanford, that showed that while speeding was certainly a cause of accidents, it was actually far more dangerous to perform other actions like drunk, distracted, fatigued, and aggressive driving, tailgating, changing lanes without turn signals, changing lanes without looking, changing lanes frequently, changing multiple lanes at once, etc. Obviously speed contributes to a level of danger in the road, but regardless of that, we've moved from our first motor vehicle speed limit of 12mph in cities, and 15mph on country roads in 1901 to an average maximum speed limit of about 70mph and the US's highest speed limit of 85mph. There is absolutely no question whatsoever that driving 70mph is inherently more dangerous than driving 15mph, so why is it okay for us to drive 70mph today, even though it wasn't okay in 1901? To answer, in large part, it's because it is FAR less dangerous to drive 15mph today than it was in 1901. And it is far less dangerous to drive 70mph today than it was in 1995 when many states raised their speed limits from the previous country wide 65mph speed limit. As cars become safer with higher performance parts than previous generations had, it becomes less and less dangerous to drive at a given speed.
View on Reddit #5991467

WhiteWolf_Ziri@reddit

Not to mention for your second point, just because cars have become safer doesn't mean we should try to equalize the danger by driving faster and more recklessly. Cars kill tens of thousands of people per year. Almost all of those deaths are probably avoidable. If it was gun violence it would be all over the news.
View on Reddit #5992257

Challenge-Upstairs@reddit

Okay, so then are you in favor of lowering the speed limit to a speed at which it becomes extremely unlikely that fatalities will occur? Are you in favor of lowering the maximum speed limit in the country to 25mph, for example?
View on Reddit #5993085

WhiteWolf_Ziri@reddit

Okay but nearly everything on that list is exponentially more dangerous when it is also combined with speeding. Indeed the cause of most of them is people's obsession with going faster than everyone else. Speeding is aggressive and reckless. Most times accompanied signal-less cross highway lane changes. Weaving through traffic. Flashing their lights attempting to assume the authority of emergency vehicles. Speeding is the cause and the modifier of danger of these behaviors. Which is all caused by entitled thinking.
View on Reddit #5991812

Challenge-Upstairs@reddit

Of course they're all exponentially more dangerous when paired with speeding. But speeding, by itself, isn't nearly as dangerous as any of those even without speeding. All of those are also exponentially more dangerous when paired with each other. Again, why are you okay with us having 70mph speed limits, rather than 15mph max speed limits? I'm not saying go 20mph faster than the rest of traffic. That's dangerous. Going significantly faster or slower (10+mph) than the surrounding traffic in dense traffic is absolutely dangerous, and there have also been studies to back that up. But those studies also show that speeding in traffic which is also speeding is safer than moving at the speed limit in traffic which is speeding. All this is to say that my point is that speed limits should be changed. There are so many interstates where it would almost certainly be as safe to drive at 90mph today as it was to drive 70mph in 1995. Conversely, many speed limits are way too high, and need to be lowered to stop all the accidents that constantly happen on them due to the speed limit being higher than many people can safely drive on those roads.

Might be getting into jurisdictional stuff. If by state police you mean highway patrol, then yeah, they don’t usually do a lot of investigation. Most states have a separate state investigative police, but they won’t want to touch traffic. You might have better luck with city or county police.

There are two limitations present that limit our ability to take enforcement action. First, we cannot positively identify the driver. If we cannot verify the driver at the time of the infraction, the case would be dismissed in Court. Second the violation must be witnessed by Law Enforcement in order to issue a motor vehicle violation. Realistically they won't do shit at the time either until there's an accident. I've called in probably a dozen dangerous drivers for one thing or another over the years and only a single time in Oshkosh, WI has state patrol or a sheriff ever showed up and pulled someone over (for a 4 wheeler driving erratically and with no license plate). Everything from a truck driving with zero lights on at 1am to a truck's side fairing hanging off the truck 4 feet into the next lane.

I'm in the Northeast US and 9/10 when I've called in an erratic driver ahead of me, I've seen them pulled over minutes later. In the case of truckers, I also have contacted their parent companies and informed them of my police report, so they can retrieve it. Whenever I see this kind of stuff, all I can think of is some innocent driver getting hurt ahead of me.

This is a very good point. So many people point to truckers as dangerous for highways. I figure, most truckers drive for a living, so are probably good drivers. The problem is often the cars around them. However, an accident involving a large truck is often more catastrophic than between two cars, just because of the size disparity. I would be interested to k ow what the statistics are for truck vs. car accidents of highways: the number of accidents, number in injuries/fatalities, number of dollars they cost.
View on Reddit #5334177

Rubes2525@reddit

I remember Mythbusters quoting a stat that said the majority of lethal accidents between a truck and a car is caused by the person driving the car.
View on Reddit #5346768

Lalamedic@reddit

I suspected as much. As a paramedic, I attend very few accidents involving transports compared to cars only. However, they are more dramatic than just car accidents - injuries or not - so therefore garner much more attention. Like flying in an airplane. Statistically, it is the safest way to travel - least number of fatalities/successful flights. However, a single plane crash usually kills everybody onboard - but the actual chances of a crash are slim.

View on Reddit #5321015

bulletbassman@reddit

But why don’t you drive at the speed limit? Speed limits are generally pretty conservative and there is almost always signage for anything you should slow down for.
View on Reddit #5323311

Past_Perspective_811@reddit

Safety. Slower speeds are proven to be safer, and I have more time to react to people like the trucker in the video. Efficiency. My car gets 5 mpg more at 60. Freedom. Because I'm not required to drive at the limit. It's a speed LIMIT, not a speed REQUIREMENT.
View on Reddit #5328734

bulletbassman@reddit

In my experience bottlenecking is far more likely to cause an accident on the highway and nothing creates bottlenecking like drivers going slower than the flow of traffic. You do you but it sounds from your first post you are creating incidents on the highway to avoid rather than making your drive safer.
View on Reddit #5337801

Past_Perspective_811@reddit

That's not true. It's the fools who are speeding and then not paying attention. They'd hit anything. You're literally trying to blame other people for your problems. Speed is the biggest hazard on the road. I've had zero issues and far less stress when I don't have to worry about traffic.
View on Reddit #5349987

bulletbassman@reddit

Yeah but you said in the first post I replied to that it pisses people off and causes interactions. Then you say it gives you more time when you get cut off. But I drive the speed limit or barely above and I can’t remember the last time someone cut me off. I also find people who use the word freedom when talking about something like driving usually are self centered dbags. Again I just don’t get why you wouldn’t drive at the same speed everyone else is. I totally understand not speeding. I never go more than 5 -10 over (assuming road conditions are good) as that’s the pace most people drive at where I live and I get passed all the time at those speeds. I also move over to let people pass me all the time. But I’m guessing by the tone of your posts to mine and others and all times you used the word freedom in this thread you don’t really think about others when you are slowing down. And it’s people who don’t think about others on the road that are dangerous regardless of the speed you are going. If you are creating traffic by going slow you are effecting others every bit as negatively as someone going 5 miles over the speed limit if not more so.
View on Reddit #5360629

Past_Perspective_811@reddit

That's your problem that YOU are upset that I'm following the law. NOT MINE. Nowhere am I required to drive fast because you want to drive faster. You're the one literally trying to tell other people to alter their behavior because you don't like it. If that isn't self-centered, tell us what is. It's not dangerous. If you're going 10 mph faster, you have over two minutes with a quarter mile visibility to recognize and change lanes. Are you upset that you have to pay attention to the road and traffic now instead of your phone? Give one reason I should speed up. Just one.
View on Reddit #5375882

bulletbassman@reddit

I just drive the average speed of drivers in my area dude. No faster no slower. I am an extremely defensive driver. Ever notice traffic behind you and not in front of you? Cause by driving slower than the average rate of traffic is going to cause this. Someone driving the speed limit (again 5-10 Miles under average driver in my area) now has to pass you. And those crazy speeders you talk about get pissed off. And then they do stupid shit. You yourself admit it causes interactions. Cause people aren’t going to understand any of your logic. Not when the guys who made the road said this is the speed it’s safe to drive at. Ever try merging an 18 wheeler in busy traffic. It ain’t easy. That’s why they get pissed at you for driving slow. Cause you force them to drive slow or make potentially dangerous merges. Which of course just puts you at danger to get rear ended. Honestly I’m pretty sure you get off on it judging by your responses to people. Freedom right? Well the flip side of that is I can tell you your logic is flawed in practice even if it seems to you like it’s a good idea on paper. Just drive the speed limit. Or don’t but shut up and stop expecting people to pat you on the back for it.
View on Reddit #5379037

Past_Perspective_811@reddit

When is there not traffic behind you? There is another complete lane, merge and pass. That’s literally what it’s for. If you can’t think two minutes ahead and find an opening, maybe you shouldn’t drive a truck? If you get pissed because of a 2 minute delay maybe trucking is the wrong profession for you. If you can’t merge safely with two minutes forethought; trucking definitely is not for you. They do stupid shit? Like what? This isn’t the Wild West buddy. Nowhere did I expect praise for it. And no, since you can’t provide one reason I should drive faster- I will not. And I’ll tell you what- I pass more trucks at 60 in a 70 zone than trucks pass me. Maybe you should address all of them- I don’t have a problem with it. How you react to a safe driver is YOUR problem.
View on Reddit #5380048

bulletbassman@reddit

You seriously never seen an aggressive driver whether it’s a car or truck do something stupid cause they got delayed? And no there is almost never a situation where 10-15 cars behind me and only a few ahead of me. But I can gurantee that happens to you all the time if you are purposely driving below the flow of traffic. Honestly it’s a situation that would make me uncomfortable for multiple reasons. My safety being number one. You keep saying this thing about your problem. Well homie if we are on the road together it’s our problem. Just like that dude going 25 over is our problem. You driving below the flow of traffic causes problems. Just you have decided that it’s everyone else’s problem and not yours.
View on Reddit #5381892

Past_Perspective_811@reddit

Just flash their light thinking rhymes too can make me drive faster. (Hint: it doesn’t work. I will toggle the cruise down about 5 mph though.) No, never get a line behind me. Most people have the common sense to change lanes and pass. Try it sometime, rather than getting bent out of shape over things outside your control. No, again this is your problem. I’m operating within the bounds of the law. I’m not unsafe. I’m not causing problems. The problems you have, you can solve by safely passing- just like everyone else. This is your problem. You don’t want to slow down. You’re upset because you actually have to pay attention. If you’re going the speed limit, you’re going to be passing trucks consistently that are even slower than I am. If you’re slightly over the speed limit, you’d still be upset if I’m at the maximum speed allowed because you have to slow down again. All this is just your problem. You can’t control what I do, like I can’t control your driving. I don’t try. You shouldn’t either. You can control your reaction. Rather than being upset and angry, try recognizing that it’s your emotions causing the problem and that you can anticipate and merge.
View on Reddit #5382885

bulletbassman@reddit

Dude you assume a lot about my driving. I slow down when I need to. I never tailgate. I never aggressively switch lanes. I only pass on right when someone doesn’t move out of the left lane and I have a ton of space to do so. But I see everyday bunches of traffic (as opposed to open road) due to slow drivers or drivers who don’t merge to the right after passing a lower driver. I just slow down. But it puts me in traffic as opposed to an open road which is inherently far more dangerous. Number one accident on high way is rear ends. This is why I just drive with the flow of traffic. I don’t try to force people to speed up. But I also don’t force people to slow down. Which you clearly do. Going slower cause someone had the audacity to flash their blinkers at you is a perfect example. So yeah how you drive is self centered. You can keep on saying how it’s everyone else’s problem for wanting to drive a normal pace. But unless you are on a race track by yourself what you do on the road is everyone’s problem.
View on Reddit #5383760

Past_Perspective_811@reddit

You assume a lot about mine. You say it’s unsafe but can’t say why. Read end accidents happen most when traffic stops- not slows a little bit. You’re literally trying to force me to speed up. It’s easy to see that you the same thing on the road. No I will not be bullied into going faster by you or any other similarly aggressive driver. I am not required to drive at the speed limit. My operation is safe and legal. This the problem is yours and your emotional reaction to having to slow down. Don’t like it- leave sooner. Stop trying to be aggressive and force people to drive like you.

My vehicle isn't governed, and I'm not towing 80K in weight. Fuck outta my way 😆. I could have passed him in 3 seconds, not 8 whole ass minutes. TLDR. Buddy we don’t want to do the speed limit if we’re not governed at it. 65 vs 70 makes a world of a difference when you consider going from coast to coast. We’re driving all day everyday for days on end to make some money, you think we need the stupid ass bullshit that you just said? You egghead.

You can be professional and still do 5 mph over the speed limit. Surprise surprise, we control our speed based on how the road conditions and traffic are in the moment. You don’t think we blindly drive 80k pounds do you? The real big risks are 4 wheelers who got their license from Steve Wonder doing stupid shit around semi trucks. No reason to be going the speed limit if there is light traffic.
View on Reddit #5335584

Cold_Investment69@reddit

I mean… I clearly am not referring to 5mph over. But I don’t think a loaded dump truck needs to do 80 in a 65 with passenger traffic. And light traffic is entirely a different situation.

RustyBootyFlakes@reddit

Trucks pass for the same reason cars do, it could be a hazard in the right lane or extremely slow vehicles going far under the speed limit who may even speed up as soon as the Truck tries to pass. Technically no one should be just driving in the left lane when they're not passing even cars.
View on Reddit #5327057

Cold_Investment69@reddit

Yes but regardless the signs where I am specifically say “no trucks, trailers in left lane”. Period. Full stop. You’ll have to pass on the other lane to the left but not the far left lane.
View on Reddit #5331724

WIbigdog@reddit

You can tell me where in the US they have those signs on a 4 lane divided highway. I'll give you your answer, it's nowhere. You'll only see those signs on 3+ lanes. Even Cali doesn't ban trucks from the left lane when there's only 2 lanes.

Are you guys in that much of a hurry? I just like to cruise all by myself and not get bothered about someone in front of me
View on Reddit #5320126

Slyfer29@reddit

Sometimes if they keep driving at inconsistent speeds in front of you it forces you to have to constantly readjust your speed and it's uncomfortable. If you're using cruise control it makes the truck unstable too because of the constant auto readjustment. It's tolerable but it could definitely get annoying after a while especially if you've been driving for a long time.
View on Reddit #5321019

OneOfTheWills@reddit

If you are getting annoyed simply because you’ve been driving for a while, it sounds like you need to pull over for five minutes to collect yourself. Not only will the idiot who can’t maintain speed be further down the road but you also won’t let your emotions get the better of you. Simple solution. And if you can’t pull over for 5, reduce speed for 5. There are ways out of that situation without increasing speed and fueling tempers.
View on Reddit #5325697

Slyfer29@reddit

Just because I'm annoyed doesn't mean I'm going to try to run them off the road. Just saying, following behind vehicles that keeps speeding up or slowing down is annoying for most people, only Trucks can't always make the pass. Never once road raged over it, not even bird flipping.
View on Reddit #5326861

OneOfTheWills@reddit

Congrats. But, again, if it’s annoying then it’s your responsibility to handle that reaction. If you don’t mind it then that’s great, too. This clearly doesn’t apply to you.

View on Reddit #5334970

OneOfTheWills@reddit

It was never stated how that individual handles being annoyed. They just said they wouldn’t run them off of the road. Annoyance builds up. Emotions get to us either behind the wheel or at home. Handle the reaction before it settles in. How is that a bad thing to remind others of?
View on Reddit #5336260

UMilqueToastPOS@reddit

It sounds like you're getting annoyed, you should deal with those emotions in a healthy manner. Maybe take a five minute break before you run someone off the road, ok? But first, let me remind you 87 more times not to *almost murder people on the road for slowing down and speeding up slightly*. Like damn dude, we all understand you deal with everything in your life in a perfect manner, but how many times are you gonna remind this person not to commit attempted murder like he doesn't already fucking know?? Like he has no fucking clue how to deal with emotions and needs to be lead around by *you* like a fucking child? Pretty sure he can figure something out between getting annoyed they're slowing down, and possibly killing a family lol. Thanks for reminding him not to run people off the road (suuuuper helpful btw) but I'm sure he gets it now, ok buddy? He also stated that he wouldnt even go as far as to flip them off, so it sounds like he's not going to be running people off the road anytime soon...? But it's fine as long as everyone reads *your* one single tip on how to not run people off the road lol, tf. Think of all the lives you've saved by suggesting stopping for five minutes, you perfect genius. What would we ever do with you?
View on Reddit #5361706

View on Reddit #5363841

Slyfer29@reddit

Not necessarily, whenever a car speeds up while I'm passing I just facepalm and roll my eyes and get back over when possible. Being annoyed doesn't mean you're going to road rage. Pretty use to terrible road manners at this point.
View on Reddit #5343775

OneOfTheWills@reddit

That’s good it hear. It’s also why I used, repeatedly, the word “if.” If that is the case, these are the actions that should be considered. If this applies to someone, they are the people who need to remember this advice. There was never a “you do this for a fact every time” I am grateful you are one of the many who actually can keep a level head and do your job. Unfortunately, it only takes one to cause problems. It doesn’t mean that one is you.
View on Reddit #5345715

"It's uncomfortable because you actually have to drive." Wow thats crazy, that's the job. It's also something every single person on the road is doing at all times.
View on Reddit #5329878

Slyfer29@reddit

It's uncomfortable because instead of going a constant stable speed you have to keep slowing down and speeding up. That's pretty obvious, Cars can simply pass the slow car and have a easy drive, but the Truck often is stuck behind him or failing to pass in the left lane when they speed up making the whole road mad.
View on Reddit #5344228

I just sit in the passing lane until I'm less than 2 miles from my exit, they get out of the way, or they get more than 2 truck lengths ahead of me. Don't even need to deal with that crap. Also, I don't set cruise control unless I'm going less than my governed speed, ofc lol

You sound like a person that have never pull 105,000 lbs load a guy that just pushes on the throttle and it moves. I don’t work like that in trucks. View on Reddit #5337441

87fordranger@reddit

I don’t care about your feelings or whether you drive a 105,000 lbs truck or smart car. There is no good reason to run people out of lanes and you don’t have the self control to be behind the wheel of a 2,000 vehicle, let alone a 105,000 lbs truck. If you change lanes into an occupied lane, that’s your fault, which is fact, your feelings aren’t the law. And if you think running people out of lanes is ok, I wouldn’t doubt you’re the type of trucker to cut me off with car length of space, and pelt my windshield with rocks, even though I had the courtesy to slow down by 5 mph.

Man this happened to us on the road once. We were on the highway and a truck in front of us was hauling gravel with somewhat loose tarps on it and it was flying on our windshield, so we jumped in the left lane to safely pass it and avoid getting a crack. Well another trucker behind us followed suit but was apparently getting irritated that we weren’t going fast enough (we were doing 70 mind you) and he began attempting to pass us on the left median. There was no way in hell he’d squeeze through without hitting us and right before the corner front of his tractor trailer could bump the back corner of our SUV, I floored it because it could possibly pit maneuver the car with my spouse and kids in it. Got into the right lane to let the asshole pass while my spouse called 911. Guy began to get into the right lane to do it again. Trucker with the gravel we passed began laying on his horn to the psycho in the other truck and he finally left us alone. No visible license number on either trailer or tractor nor DOT number visible but we gave the info to them over the phone on the description of what the tractor and trailer looked like. Never found out if anything came of it. Both my dad and FIL are retired truck drivers and they were fucking pissed when this happened. Road rage is fucking crazy with some people who don’t deserve to drive.

I wish i had filmed a this one truck driver in a red day cab just abruptly passing EVERYONE like he was in a 4 wheeler to the point where a white dodge charger had to break check him to stop him from acting like a clown. It’s probably the one time i’ve ever liked a dodge driver. dude was swerving at the slightest inconvenience and had almost swung his trailer into me when trying to change into my lane early (to pass me of course) there was another car up ahead that had deterred him and that’s probably why he didn’t ram me into the wall. i kept pace with this guy and helped the dodge driver keep him from quickly changing lanes like 2 times so abruptly until i found my exit. I was so glad to be off the road with that guy. Respect to the dodge driver for brake-checking the max man. it’s the only time i think a truck driver deserves it. I do not think it should happen as much as it does. but this driver was out of line every time and just trying to pass everyone in the most douche manner possible.

Highways that were originally built for military and commercial transport. It used to be illegal for cars to be on the interstate. No justification for this guys actions, although I have felt like doing it several times myself, but ignorant ass drivers with no respect for big trucks should have their license rejected. Yesterday, I saw a car pull out in front of a truck less than 25 yards from it in a one lane construction zone with the truck at the posted speed limit (55) with nowhere to go. Neither instances are acceptable, but it happens. If you're so hip on putting more people on welfare that causes more taxes to be TAKEN from your paycheck, you should just start adopting them instead of wishing they were out of a job.

You are mistaken. I remember one of the first stretches of I-20 being built between Ruston, LA and Monroe, LA. I can assure you that the day they opened that road in 1960(?) every driver in Ruston suddenly needed to go to Monroe. Interstates were a DoD project in terms of funding, but they were open to every vehicle from day one. Commercial trucks had no priority under any circumstances. 99% of truck traffic was local, so why would they have been favored users, shipping was what railroads were for. The development of large-scale long-distance shipping over Interstate highways (and the subsequent collapse of most rail lines) was unforeseen.

Like most things, film the situation, along with the Carrier information on the side of the tractor and always get an image of the driver behind the wheel! Of course call 911 and ask to connect to the local law enforcement where you’re at so that they can get this idiot off the road. Also get an image of the driver on the other vehicle as well because even though the truck driver is a dumb@ss, it’s not always the entire story. I’ve seen plenty of four wheelers abruptly brake in the middle of highways regardless of who is behind them. The truck driver’s camera, if they have one, won’t get the other party’s face all the time.

If I was on my own in that car, that would scare me so much I’m not sure I’d get in a car again. It would traumatise me. What a piece of shit the trucker is. Good on you for putting this on here x

Idk I've definitely been there. These fucking 4 wheelers don't give one shit about you or how they cut you off because they think you won't do anything. Well when enough of them push someone to go this far I mean...its not right but I get it

Well the good news is she will think twice before she speeds up next time a truck is about to pass.

Looks like he was getting him off the road just fine. Could be more aggressive though, the guy just kept getting back on.
