Why are my SATA connectors connected to LST connectors?

I have prebuilt pc, with what seems to be like 8 fans, I checked the cables at the back and its a whole jumble of mess. Was trying to see if I could eventually add more storage in the future but came across some conflicting connections. I did see a few SATA cables but most of them are connected to LST cables and I'm not quite sure what the function of it is. I did see the connections made it to some power thing? The plan was I wanted to add-on SDD for extra storage.

That sata cable plugs into your fan hub, which runs and controls the fans in your system.
