I like roses of other colours. Red roses are a bit boring. I don't like other cut flowers, as I have cats and so many of the flowers that go into bouquets are toxic to cats (lilies, especially). I don't want to be gifted a houseplant either, for the same reason: most are toxic to cats.

I kill most plants. If it requires any more care than a “oh I haven’t watered you in a while” then it’s guaranteed to not live very long. Saying that, as much as I like cut flowers, they turn into a Halloween decoration long before I actually get around to throwing them out

I'm not fussed about red roses, but I've been given lots over the years. I've seen a girl reduced to tears by one though, they are really special. There's a place for cut flowers and that would be slightly different from the place for a potted plant. A lot of the single red roses for Valentine's are grown in Kenya. It's not very good for the planet to fly them so far. But what can you do? A bunch of daffs really doesn't have the emotion, lovely though they are.

They’re a perishable gift like chocolates, alcohol, scented candle etc is, lots of people enjoy looking at flowers for a couple of days before they wither

I like flowers. I hate roses because of how cliche they are. Any other flowers I'm cool with (with the possible exception of those rainforest flowers that smell like a ripe corpse).

You are vastly over estimating mine and many others ability to keep a plant alive. At least with flowers they are suppose to die it’s not because I failed at what should be a basic task.
