I could literally lock any thread based on the vague rules.
"Ask a question to other experienced Devs?"
\- No Surveys
Ask about the industry?
\- No General Career advice
Complain about <blank> common practice?
\- Low Effort Post
Ask the most intelegent and relevant question that all are interested in?
\- No Google-able questions.
Rule 9: No Low Effort Posts, Excessive Venting, or Bragging.
Using this subreddit to crowd source answers to something that isn't really contributing to the spirit of this subreddit is forbidden at moderator's discretion. This includes posts that are mostly focused around venting or bragging; both of these types of posts are difficult to moderate and don't contribute much to the subreddit.
Maybe...
Or maybe when you get a thread with over 200 replies and a top post of over 700 upvotes, it's a discussion people want to have.

No. You have r/cscareerquestions for that.
The rules are in place to maintain high quality discussion related to senior devs. Anything else gets tossed out, as it should.
Honestly, I could go either way on that one. Yes, it is pretty r/cscareerquestions flavored. OTOH, given the replies, it clearly is an experienced dev problem. Then again, rule 9 states "no venting" so yeah, the mods aren't wrong.
Found a locked one for you...

True. This is exactly the kind of topic you’d expect on a group labelled ExperiencedDevs, and shutting it down is the same kind of myopic moderation that ran Programmers/SoftwareEngineering stack exchange into the ground.
The mods should absolutely lock more threads to avoid this becoming r/cscareerquestions . That sub is more appropriate for all the whining about interviews and job search.
You may find this discussion interesting - [https://www.reddit.com/r/ExperiencedDevs/comments/1idqdxs/meta\_lets\_talk\_about\_rule\_3\_no\_general\_career/](https://www.reddit.com/r/ExperiencedDevs/comments/1idqdxs/meta_lets_talk_about_rule_3_no_general_career/)
yeah. A good programmer is supposed to be clear and concise with his communication
I don’t know why people here consider a
one paragraph question “low effort”
Mods - nuke dat shit.
OP: can you explain with example what's being locked and why it shouldn't be? Half the times I see threads deleted/locked it's because cscareers is leaking again and whoever doesn't want to wait for the Sunday ask-an-exp thread.
