Utility warehouse, is it any good?

Hi all,
Was just wondering what people's experiences are with UW? I'm looking to switch provider and they seem to have pretty good plans and rates for what I need. TIA

absolute scam of a company was £150 the first month and £180 the 2nd month I work a lot so I was hardly even in the house been with octopus for a month and was £40
cgknight1@reddit
Is it still a MLM company? There has always been a slight cult vibe off the people who try to convince me to take it.
GreenhousePlum@reddit
Someone has just tried to get me to sign up to it, it immediately gave me MLM/pyramid scheme vibes.
ProgressStraight8921@reddit
Hi u/GreenhousePlum , I am a partner with Utility Warehouse, sounds like someone might be using a front as a scam for their own business. Did you manage to get this sorted? I am here to offer any support if you have run into any problems with it.
No-Technology-1904@reddit
I got signed up for 2 sims which I never asked for or agreed to in any way, now it looks like "my" account has bn sold to a debt collecting agency, can anyone help with this as its already gone too far ?
Donjeur@reddit
Who signed you up?
No-Technology-1904@reddit
a guy came to my door, a salesman. He told me he was a neighbour from the next street and I've since found out this was a lie too, he duped other neighbours of mines too.
Donjeur@reddit
Where in UK are you? Do you know his name?
No-Technology-1904@reddit
2 simcards arrived by mail and were never activated, I contacted uW to inform the. I hadn't asked for, and had no need for them, in return they sold "their debt" to a debt collection agency and now added into the bargain, my credit has been effected.
GreenhousePlum@reddit
No, the scam/pyramid scheme IS Utility Warehouse, and I am thankful to avoid it like the plague. I can see you're trying to do damage control for the business, don't bother, we can see through it.
No-Technology-1904@reddit
they're demanding over £500 for 2 sims that were never activated
Choice_Fisherman7462@reddit
Att: Yes, it may be a MLM; yet, not all MLM’s are actually Pyramid Schemes. UW, is definitely not a Pyramid Scheme.
G4m8I3r@reddit
Said every pyramid scheme/MLM ever
Postik123@reddit
Yes it is

Cancelled them today budget, tariff end of year they gave me a big big bill dont go there crooks
Pepz_zi@reddit
Pathetic company. I told them twice that I don’t want to pay a fixed direct debit amount for electric, instead just pay for what I use each month manually. They sent a bill that is direct debit! And now they won’t stop bothering me about getting a sim card for £5 a month with 8gb data? I have unlimited social media and music + 75gb at voxi for £12 yet they keep making excuses why they’re better. When I tell them no he keeps saying I probably don’t use that and it’s better? Hung up the phone out of anger. Don’t bother with them!
punkrun@reddit
I signed up to this company briefly. They asked me if I wanted a sim contract alongside my gas and electricity. I said no, I'm not interested.
They signed me up for a sim contract.
I called to make a complaint, they gave me a complaint number. The phone contract still appeared on my account. I called again and they denied it was on there.
I've cancelled all my accounts with them as they seem pretty dodgy and dishonest.
NoUnderstanding7764@reddit
Terrible. They've sent me a monthly bill for energy even though im on pay as u go. They say the bill has to be paid by the end of the month or i face legal action . Iv tried multiple times to sort this out via customer service and its been a nightmare as they cant seem to answer why they've billed me . I was topping up my gas and electricity via pay as u go
RokHoon@reddit
Scottish power did that to someone I know.
PointWorth7855@reddit
Very dodgy, am cancelling mind too..
dinobinosinokindo@reddit
Sorry but how did they manage to sign you up to a Sim contract?
punkrun@reddit
They do sim contracts and Internet...
When I called to sign up, they offered me a sim contract in addition to gas and electricity. I said I wasn't interested in any phone contracts as I'm happy with what I have. They signed me up anyway. I didn't activate the sim and got in touch to ask them to take it off

Used to be good 10 years ago now there is no customer service just ways to not actually speak to them (barriers) ive been with them over 15 years and looking to change as ive had enough of them taking too much money and not veing able to speak to anyone
Revolutionary-Ad7474@reddit
So bad, rude customer service staff, that lie. They think your money is a joke to them. They accessed my bank account and took money - illegally . Do not buy into their scammer company
Accomplished-Elk479@reddit
Awful customer service. Agents just direct you to their online form where you just receive an automated response. I am currently trying to sort an issue with my gas bill with them. Basically they have charged me from an estimated meter reading not my actual one and never asked me to provide my own meter readings the whole year I have been with them. I cannot even reach the box with the meter inside! They want me to pay for gas usuage that I did not use as I wasnt at the property at the time of that meter reading. I plan to take it to FOS but awaiting their response. Planning to switch as soon as its sorted as I cannot stand the customer service.
Draculaaaaaaaaaaahhh@reddit
Horrible customer service. Takes weeks to sort out problems. One department doesn't talk to the next. Emails dont get read. The broadband is not as fast as our old supplier, and we have had more issues with it going off. We regret switching. We will be leaving as soon as we can. Avoid them.
MurkyWhereas3202@reddit
I totally agree on customer services being terrible. I called them to say, my account was telling me information i typed in didn't exist. Then got email with a different person's name with totally different customer number attached. I'm leaving them. My original broadband provider left the market and transferred our services to UW. They also increased our monthly payments from £26 pm. Now, it's £42 pm. Getting intermittent access to internet.
Economy_Fly_7205@reddit
I got a bundle of services from them a few years ago, thinking it’d save us money and I’ve wound up slowly changing things piece by piece to different providers because it’s worked out cheaper regardless of the bundle discount. About a month ago my sim was destroyed so I requested a new one… I wound up requesting a sim three times over the course of a month. They kept saying they’d accidentally sending it to an old address- despite me clarifying that was the wrong address every single time I called (and months before I even moved, and just after I moved). When I finally gave up and got a sim with another provider I had it delivered to my door within 24 hours. My new plan is cheaper than UW. Way cheaper. For me, the bundling price discount amounted to way less than I saved choosing affordable providers individually elsewhere. Also, when I called UW to say I’d had enough of the month of back and forth over the sim they still hadn’t sent to me, and that I found another provider for my sim, they agreed not to bill me for this months phone usage (because I never actually received a sim to use), but I’m still going to get billed for next month because of their cancellation policy! Tried to coerce me over the phone into accepting their offer to send another sim to me to validate the expense of a months subscription, but point blank refused to null the charge for what I don’t have (and frankly no longer want). Wasteful and ridiculous. Save yourself the hassle and go with ANY OTHER PROVIDER.

My wife switched us over to them at the recommendation of a financial advisor. Weve had them 4 months, energy costs seem comparable with the budget end of energy providers. She moved her phone contract over which i think is more expensive than you could get. And phone and broadband is probably a bit more than you can get it (virgin media is normally the best value for money for new customers around here but i wont use them). Cashback has been between £20-£66 so overall id say its not far away from as cheap as it can be. You could probably save more if youre inclined to do things like TCB, or other cashback services and finding individual suppliers for each service. Initially i was thinking it wasnt a great idea, now im more 'meh its there or there abouts'. I dont think were getting stiffed at least.
No issues with their services.
jimicus@reddit
Y'know, UW operate a multi level marketing sales model.
I would strongly question the independence of your financial advisor.
Spadders87@reddit
Even more so since we never actually paid them! They’re not independent which is why I was doubtful when we first signed up but in fairness seems reasonable so far.
curiousoul28@reddit
Atrocious customer service.

I have gas and electricity through them.
Nothing notable to say positive or negative
Breaking-Dad-@reddit
They don't really offer me what I want because I like more control and am capable of switching providers when I feel the need. However, my mum and my late Aunt swore by them and I can see why. They offer a one-stop shop for their energy, broadband etc.; they are easy to deal with and the prices are pretty good.
robrt382@reddit
Their rates are good if you take multiple services.
That's not attractive to me because I think it makes it more difficult to switch out one of those services if you want to - it makes you a "stickier" customer.
On the other hand, having a single supplier for multiple services may be quite convenient for other people, depending on preference.
