Can I receive medicine from overseas via post to the UK?

Hey everyone,
I have some medication (Nexito 10mg) prescribed to me by a doctor in Sri Lanka. I'm considering having a two-month supply posted from Sri Lanka, as it could easily fit in a letter-sized envelope. I plan to include a copy of the prescription with the package as well.
Would this put me into trouble?

A friend of mine came over from the USA three years ago and still has her doctor in the USA. Her family posts the medication over roughly every 3 weeks, I am not 100% sure of the legality of all of it but in theory as long as the drugs aren't listed as a controlled drug here in the UK it should be fine.
The reason my friend kept her US doctor on was purely because it was easier to get a telemedicine appointment in the USA than it was to get a GP appointment in the UK.
Just be aware sometimes customs may pull your package and see it's medication and withdraw it from postage, if that happens you'll be without medication. Which for an antidepressant I wouldn't necessarily say is a good idea. It's a fairly routinely prescribed drug in the UK so if you're just open with your GP they should be able to sort you a UK based NHS prescription.
If you ever need other medicine, you can find a full list of controlled drugs here but the medication you've listed here, isn't on that list currently: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/controlled-drugs-list--2

Hi! So basically, try to hide the fact that I'm sending pills and it should work? I need to send my sister some Meloxicam, she said she can't find/get it there and she's an athlete having some ankle pain at the moment.. would greatly appreciate your thoughts on this please! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

I have to get Huminsulin R and Huminsulin N (from Lilly) for my Diabetic medications. Will this be possible to carry from India for a year? I cannot purchase from UK as I think will be expensive. Please advise

There are courier services specifically for medicines. For example, DHL has a service from India where you'd need to include a prescription with the exact name as your passport and not send anyother item with it. Its also more expensive than normal courier charges.
So yeah technically you can do it, but I'd suggest you do it the official route and not camouflage it.

Its very dependant on the drug, if it is Scheduled/ controlled drug then there may well be legal issues (https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/controlled-drugs-list--2)
It also seems to imply you can bring/send 3 months, then after that you should be getting it from a UK doctor/pharmacy
Might be best to contact the DFLU to get something confirming in writing

Nexito is the brand name for escitalopram, which is a standard SSRI (antidepressant essentially) readily available in the UK under prescription. It’s not a controlled drug and in theory shouldn’t cause problems being sent through the post from Sri Lanka; however if it gets spotted/scanned/opened by Customs en route, suspicious of something illegal, it’s anyone’s guess whether the OP will actually receive it.
Much better option to get it prescribed in the UK.

Customs couldn’t care less about that. It’s not at all what they’re looking for.

Why not just get them prescribed here and save posting something from around the world?
