Do you double dip the butter knife in the marmite jar?

I hate it especially in group holidays settings. Besides the point that someone might have a milk allergy and then they would be unknowingly exposed to it ; you'll just make the whole marmite jar go rancid, seeing it just goes back in the cupboard and it will probably not less than a month before it's finished. Utterly gross!

I'd be amazed if anything could go rancid in a jar of marmite. I think I do go for second dips but you can angle it so it scoops up any butter with it, or wipe it well first. No one I know is so allergic to milk that a dab would kill them.

Separate knives for butter and spreads. With the likes of peanut butter I spoon it out and spread it with it’s own knife, otherwise you still risk butter ending up in the jar.

Did it this morning. Made a cheese and Marmite sandwich, knife in flora and then in marmite, used the same knife to then butter and Marmite some crumpets. Mind you I go through marmite at quite a rate so it won't be left long enough to go bad

I try to not cross contaminate any spread or sauce if possible. I would use a knife for the butter and then a spoon for the jam / marmite / chocolate spread eg.

No. I do the dishes. I *hate* doing the dishes. But, *still*, no. Separate knives. It's worth the extra wash up. In fact, we got a promo marmite spreader thing that's perfect - helps get the last out the jar - so that simplifies it further.

Yes because I'm the only one in my family who eats it. But I do put effort into wiping the olive spread off on the bread so there shouldn't be much if any that gets left behind

Don’t eat Marmite but for jam/marmalade, I use a tea spoon to scoop out of the jar then butter knife to spread to prevent cross contamination

I don't use the butter knife for anything else. If I'm making something like jam/marmalade I'll use a teaspoon for that jar. Can't be dealing with quick mold or bits of butter in there. Gross.
