Would you be disturbed if someone called you 'mam' 3X over the phone when you're a man?

Yes we don't say 'Mam' in the UK unless you are the mother of said person.

Who in the UK calls anyone mam? That's American surely, or offshore call centre with American training

I once spoke to a woman on the phone but I thought it was a man. When she eventually mentioned she was a woman but people always mistook her for a man I laughed because I still believed she was a man. It wasn’t on purpose and I hope she’s okay now. Eek.

As long as i get what i want, i dont care. No one even gets my name correct, despite the fact its just 5 simple letters. Id settle for a ma'am.

I wouldn't actually mind that. I would probably be more concerned that the caller was a scammer as they seem to always use that form of address no matter who they are talking to.

Couldn't care less. Phones/headsets can disturb voices. Frankly, it wouldn't bother me if they called me sir, I'd laugh it off. If it pisses you off, that's a you problem and you need to evaluate why it annoyed you so much because, this really isn't a big deal.

You mean they called you ma’am rather than they thought your their mother. Don’t be concerned. Sounds like you were dealing with an idiot if they had to be told more than once.

I wouldn't be disturbed, I might be offended if they continued to do it after I corrected them
