Like saying would you rather your dad be a premier league legend, or your son instead?

Child of a footballer, you get the monetary benefit ls of your parents being minted. Plus your dad playing premier league football will give you an advantage in future careers depending what you decide to do

You also have a pressure to be very successful as anything below legendary is not enough.

You'll be in a good position to succeed in life. People who come from wealthy backgrounds tend to do well in life

Brooklyn Becham had all the oportunities but never been successful due to hate from nepotism and presure to become super successful in a short space of time. Now he is lost and has no idea what to do yet should be greatful for all the luxury he has.

A parent as you have respect and can enjoy your retirement in luxury with no pressure.

I’d rather be the child. Don’t fancy giving up my weekends to shuttle my child around to away matches. And there’s no guarantee that he’d make it as a professional, so I’d be worried he’d end up flipping burgers at 18.

The question was “premier league legend”. Your child has already made it, you don’t need to be shuttling around to away matches 😉

Oh it happened without any input from me? I need to suspend my disbelief in this made up scenario. Then if that’s the case, then I’d still be the child. Cos there’s no guarantee my son will sort me out.

Probably parent. If my Dad had been playing professional football, he’d have been in the era of George Best and Bobby Charlton. Great, but the salaries definitely weren’t as insane as they are today.

Parent, for sure. It would be so much more rewarding and you'll never feel resentful about living up to your parents' expectations

I’d rather be the parent. I have no desire to live a celebrity lifestyle. I wouldn’t want the upheaval to a normal life that comes with a parent constantly travelling for work. You can’t win in terms of your own path in life: if you choose a celebrity path there’s immense pressure to live up to your parent’s success and constant nepotism comments regardless of how good you are, and if you choose a normal life people would still comment constantly. Assuming I’ve done a good job as a parent, my kid would probably pay off my mortgage (assuming we’re talking “money is meaningless” levels of success) and that would be enough for me. I’d be happy to be on the fringes of that life, keeping them and their kids grounded as much as I could.

Obviously the child, so I could live in a huge house and have loads of cool stuff and nice holidays and grow up rich and pampered. (and all sorts of soul-crushing issues as well, I'm sure)

Son. He’s 4. Imagine what the salary will be then.

Parent I suppose most footballers probably have a few unclaimed kids so if you were one they didn't care about wouldn't mean much would it.

The parent. Given my age if my Dad had been a top league player in England it'd have been football league, and even Keegan and Dalglish weren't paid anywhere near the wages squad players in the weaker clubs are today, so the financial benefits of being a footballers child weren't quite the same. And I don't quite have the media appeal of a Kelly Dalglish for the later in life nepo advantages.

The parent. You get to feel the pride with none of the weight of expectation of living up to their talent.

I don't care about football but from the financial side of things the kid surely gets dealt the best hand.
