BIOS Flash Issues - MSI B850 Gaming Plus

I am trying to update the BIOS on my motherboard prior to assembling everything with the bios flash button on the I/O because I will be using a 9800x3d processor. I have tried just about everything, but the bios LED flashes for like 10 secs then remains solid on. Everything I have read it is supposed to flash for 5-10 minutes.
Here is what I did:
-
Downloaded the latest BIOS version from MSI's website (7E56v1A41)
-
Rename the file to MSI.ROM
-
Formatted USB drive using FAT32
-
Moved MSI.ROM onto usb drive
-
Connected PSU to motherboard (ATX and CPU power)
-
Inserted USB into bios flash slot
-
Turned on PSU switch
-
Pressed the Bios flash button
I even tried repairing the drive with bootice and changing it from a GPT partition to MBR. Is the board bricked? Am I missing something obvious? I am going to get a new USB drive tomorrow to see if that makes a difference.

Hola estoy teniendo el mismo problema, prendo la pc, y me aparece en la mother una luz roja en cpu y una luz amarilla en vram...
saben si esta reolacionado a esto? se puede conectar el pendrive en cualquier usb de la parte trasera?
SwimInsideTheMirror@reddit (OP)
Yes, there should be a USB slot labeled to flash.

Hago el update, pero solo hace 3 parpadeos y luego queda prendido y ahí se queda por siempre

SAME PROBLEM, BROTHER, HOW DID YOU SOLVE IT?
Ok-Focus-4043@reddit
Considere que estaba actualizado, por qué necesitas actualizar?
SwimInsideTheMirror@reddit (OP)
Yep that happened to me as well. I just decided to fully assemble and boot without the update. I was able to update through M Flash in the BIOS.

Did you found a solution? Because I am facing the Same issue as you
SwimInsideTheMirror@reddit (OP)
I completely assembled the build and it was able to boot without the bios update. So it was essentially a non issue even though everywhere online said you needed the update for the 9800x3d to work.
I ended up doing the update via M-Flash in the Bios before installing Windows.
Hopefully that helps!

what version did it come preinstalled prior?
SwimInsideTheMirror@reddit (OP)
Not sure but I think it was the first version listed on their website.

similar situation, my box says AMD 9000 ready so assuming i can just do first boot up and flash later on
Ok_Condition_8937@reddit
did you bios flash without the 9800x3d installed?
SwimInsideTheMirror@reddit (OP)
At first that is what I tried, but it was not working. I ended up fully assembling and updated the bios on the first boot up via M Flash.
