This is an absolute beast and it's remarkable that it's "the cheapest" of anything, even with all the qualifiers.
It uses more power and has less performance than a 4060?
Damn. The VRAM is nice but this affects portability and longevity of the whole laptop.
And in my country at least, sadly there isn't a single laptop with this GPU
The only shiny redeeming quality about the 40 series is the power efficiency and power efficiency is probably the first thing I’d look for when shopping for a laptop.
Makes sense that is uses more power. 4060 is on a newer process and Nvidia has a more efficient architecture.
I don’t know if windows laptops still throttle gaming hard when running on battery.
i mean, the thing is a 3000 series laptop competitor being reviewed now right
at the time, it was a 3070 competitor in many aspects, but heavily depends on the game to have 3060 - 3080 performance (assuming max power on all of them).
last time laptop GPU can have double the vram of destkop, I remember my 750M is basically a GTX650 but it has 2GB vram instead of 1GB.
this time laptop is sometimes have less vram than destkop version. :(
To be fair, those were different GPUs altogether. Mobile 3080 is a GA104, aka desktop 3070 Ti. Though given the latter coming only in 8GB variant it's right that you could get 16GB in mobile version only.
Mobile 3080Ti on the other hand uses GA103, which never had a desktop card released.
