This was just a photo op this engine is going into a top fuel dragster frame is what he is teasing. This dude is a genius this engine is a one off should be capable of making 10k hp if not more. A dude in Australia built it a long time ago but there was no way to manage engine like fuel injectors spark plugs timing etc it will be a while before this engine goes down a drag strip or something else but the journey is gonna be beautiful
This is Rob Dahm's 12 rotor engine. He set it down on the Miata just for the goofy pic. The motor is insane. He has chronicled the research and build on his YouTube channel.
I love how they sneak a top fuel chassis into every recent video on that engine lol. Much expect them to put it into that one, simply because it fits the space a big block takes
This thing has been posted on quite a few subs recently. This is how you get followers. His engine build probably took hundreds of hours, but setting that engine on a Miata takes a few and gets you tons of publicity

Acc87@reddit
the original builder is American, not Australian. Tyson Garvin, guy who else dabbles in speed boats, for which the 12-rotor was meant too
Dan_H1281@reddit
My mistake I assumed he was an Aussie they do some great rotary deals
Acc87@reddit
That's mostly companies from New Zealand. Pulse Performance, APEX, Sprint. For some reason they really love them wankels on those islands.
fsantos0213@reddit
I didn't think it was serious

One of the advantages of a rotary engine is that they're compact. Not so much with this thing.
whiskeytown79@reddit
I can imagine this going in a speedboat or something where its size wouldn't be as big of an issue.
concernedfriend08822@reddit
They said it was originally designed for a boat.
CookInKona@reddit
It's the same footprint and engine mounts as a big block Chevy
El_Fleegre@reddit
That's wild. I was positive this was just AI slop.

Here's the vid of it running momentarily: https://youtu.be/HN5pp8UFCjA?si=cm6lm27FRebfzKvo

You'll need someone riding on top the engine dumping oil into it though.
phuckin-psycho@reddit
When it pulls in the pit, check the gas and fill it up with oil ππ

Put some cameras in the headlights and some screens on the windshield and I'd send it!
