I paid 1300 after taxes and everything for a PNY 5080.. is that a horrible deal?

Basically the title. Entered to get a bunch of variations of the 5080 and got lucky to get the PNY one with the RGB for 1300 total shipping, taxes, etc. thought it was a solid purchase until I came here. Was I ripped off?

Well thank you guys. Feel a lot better about my purchase. I didn’t personally think 1300 for a 5080 giving current rates was bad. Didn’t want to wait 6-12 months for prices to go down to build my new pc. Nice to know I didn’t get gouged to the moon lol, shoutout PNY.

Man please! Rates of what? 1300 of what currency? Ho much tax and shipping into 1300?
Fightmemod@reddit
Prices are not likely to go down. You got it before prices go up.

PNY GeForce RTX™ 5080 ARGB EPIC-X RGB™ Overclocked Triple Fan GPU
I don't' know where do you live guys, but here in Europe more exactly in Italy price are those.
Same card I got, I ordered the plain one no the RGB but I preferred pay a ridiculous extra for the ARGB than wait till an undisclosed date! For any reason they have decent stock of this model because many are getting those amazing GPUs.
I'm a reseller (b2b IT, not consumer, so I can move some dozen of 20K€ servers and 3 high end GPUs ) so I got the GPU directly from the distributor (my personal not for resale) as a courtesy and he gave me also huge discount.
Here the reseller list price is around (1400€+22% VAT) 1708€ and the street price for the end user is around 1870€ including 22% of VAT
I paid mine 1190€+VAT so around 1450€ after taxes (but I don't care as bought as a company)
1300 ($ or €) for this PNY OC RGB is a good price but also depend on the % of VAT or similar tax in the country of the OP
Anyway.... Despite making a good deal the Original Poster is very lucky like me and few people around the world.
He "got" a brand new RTX 5080 less than one month after the product availability on the market.
Guys, any vendor has few availability of any RTX, so getting one is the deal!
I (but I'm special, I'm a reseller so into the business and amazing relationship with the distributor) decided to get mine and asked for it on 29 January, but end users ordered and paid in advance since late November....... ....and some still not get it. I cannot understand people obsessed to get that brad and that model for maybe 0,3% of difference in performance. When they call me to tell me PNY was arriving and if was good form me I sad, any 5080 at reasonable price will fit for me, then ask me if I wanted rgb or OC or a plain one.... I ask for a plain one but got RGB anyway. Who cares! I'm an happy possessor of an amazing GPUs and the whole fu**ng new build I bought around it to be Watt and PCIE 5 compliant.
NOT RIPPED OFF FOR 1300 NEITHER FOR MORE!!!
Skye453@reddit
There is no “deal” you just paid the normal price for that model nothing more nothing less.
Tiny-Kangaroo4671@reddit (OP)
Well, that makes me feel better because I kept hearing people saying it was a rip off. I know I didn’t get a “steal” with a new release in highly demand GPU, but was just curious if I get gouged significantly.
Random_Nombre@reddit
I paid the same, it was 1200 but 1325 after taxes
_Rah@reddit
In the grand scheme of things it's fine. A 4080 would have been a better buy 2 months ago. But as it stands today, it's reasonable.
THEYoungDuh@reddit
Just because you paid normal price for something doesn't make it not a ripoff, the whole 50 series is a ripoff
9okm@reddit
It is what it is. You probably got a better deal than most.
psimwork@reddit
Pretty much. I think $1300 is ridiculous for a 5080, but it's not some crazy inflated price.
National-Alps-3746@reddit
Most 5080s are 1300$ and up tbh
NuclearNick007@reddit
Deal is a relative term.
Did you get gouged in comparison to other generations? Probably
Is there an option to not be gouged right now at that performance level? Not really
Correct-Caregiver750@reddit
Yeah, I don't understand the obsession with getting a "deal". This isn't an asset class. Lol.
Fightmemod@reddit
I mean. That's about as good as it's going to get for a 5080.
Suitable-Elk-1340@reddit
If you're willing to pay what you know to be an inflated price, that is up to you.
But consider this:
If there were no market of people willing to be ripped off by scalpers and resellers, nobody would get ripped off.
Tiny-Kangaroo4671@reddit (OP)
You are right.. which is why I asked my question lol. I’m not a scalper or a reseller, I play comp FPS man lol I want my frames
Tiny-Kangaroo4671@reddit (OP)
I didn’t know if it was retail priced lol
Suitable-Elk-1340@reddit
If you want my opinion, Nvidia is ripping everyone off.
But that's what the market has come to. If that's what they retail for, you want more frames, and you're willing to pay for said frames, then I'd say no. You didn't get ripped off per se.
Go enjoy your frames, sir.
xelnaga742@reddit
Paid $1600 for a Asus TUF 5080.
Tiny-Kangaroo4671@reddit (OP)
How you like it so far? Haven’t got my pc built as I’m now waiting to find a 98003xd lol.
Northernshitshow@reddit
Sounds good to me. I hope you enjoy it!
Tiny-Kangaroo4671@reddit (OP)
Appreciate it bro I will!!!
Significant_Apple904@reddit
It's worth whatever you are willing to pay
PanzerWY@reddit
I mean if you’re uncertain just throw it up on eBay. You did pay $300 over MSRP but people are paying way more than that for these cards. I wouldn’t say you got ripped off especially compared to what some people are paying scalpers. But my comments and others don’t matter since it’s all down to you and if you think it’s worth it.
