why is my car stalling while driving after axel gets fixed?? 🤔

long story so prepare- I brought my car (2008 Manual Subaru Outback) into the shop on Tuesday morning because there’s a weird squeak/whistle in my tires, we look around and I’m gonna need new breaks soon, whatever, I have a family member who can take care of that, and then we get to my driver side front wheel- the boot on the axel is almost ripped off and everything is getting eaten by the road salt so I gotta get that fixed I guess. these guys have the part down the road and tell me they’ll have my car fixed by the EOD. I go to pick up my car and when I start it, the RPMs seem to settle really low, like scarily low and it felt like the car was about to stall, if anything my RPMs would idle high before I brought it in. on my way home from work today, I notice on a tight turn that the axel is CLICKING (which means axel game over, right) and my car stalls, and I’m in 2nd gear but the clutch was fully engaged so now I really am worried about the health of my car. I was also going downhill at some point on my way home, maybe in too high of a gear for the speed and slope, but again it stalls on me (I have power steering so it’s extra scary lol). Im worried that these are two independent problems, but it’s just really convenient timing for my car to misfire or whatever as I’m leaving the shop where it got ‘fixed?’
I just wanted to get a couple of car guys thoughts on this, cuz beyond oil changes and flat tires, I’m pretty clueless and also wanted to rant 🥳
side note- when they were fixing the axel, they knocked the ABS sensor off, I’ve had an issue with the sensor before so it was already ‘broken,’ but since they put it back, the cruise control light flashes and the check engine light stays on, we checked the code and it’s just for the ABS sensor, so it’s not really an issue, but still kind of is for when I go to get my car inspected🫤)

Sounds like a really weird problem. First of all - that shop should fix the issue for free. They obviously have no clue what they are doing since the joint still is broken (unless they fixed the wrong one or both were broken). Try to get them to pay for another shop to redo any work that they did wrong.
I can’t see any connection between a faulty axle/joint and the engine stalling though. If the clutch is fully engaged then there is no connection to the engine. Most cars also dont stall downhill in any gear.
Also seems weird that a faulty abs-sensor should turn on the check engine light.
You probably have two separate issues, but I would definitely look into exactly what the shop did and if there is any way that they could have messed with the engine.
