That's right, there not the same thing. You can get a clue from the fact that they are different words.

So it's entirely different you say? Why yes obviously, it's entirely different. A nationaloty would suggest some level of shared cultural or political norms. A colour would suggest, well nothing because it's a colour. 

If you were to think the colour represented something more then what would that be? 

That's right! That would be textbook racial thinking. If you were to take the extra step and say a bad thing about a colour, that would be textbook racism.
