Did anyone see this movie when it came out?
My older cousin and I used to buy a ticket for one movie and then go in and see another. One time we went in and watched this one - it was a cartoon so we thought we’d like it. I still remember the “Night Moves” scene. It was not a cartoon for kids - which was very confusing when I was 10.

In remember the trailer and thinking "that looks like SUCH a cool movie." I was 11. Still haven't seen it.

Yes! And because I was a fan of Bakshi's LOTR, for some reason I thought this would be for kids too - and it obv. was not. No real memory except the oddness of it all. But it had to have been the first time I ever heard Night Moves, which is funny to think about.

I saw it in the cinema, I too was about 11 and completely baffled and somewhat bored. In the years since though it has become my favorite animated films from that era and my favorite of all Bakshi's work.

Rented it but was never a fan of that rotoscoping style of animation.

Saw it on cable

I saw it later on HBO when I was in college. It was weird, just like everything Ralph Bashki did.
I remember the soldier playing the dirge on the piano right before being shot.

So many intense moments like the pogroms & the Pretty Vacant scene. Loved it
