Recommendation for a drive to install Windows on

I want to get a fast, smaller size hard drive to install windows to and keep my files, programs and games on other drives.
I was wondering if it would be better to have a 256gb vs a 512gb drive. As I understand it, smaller drives are slower, please correct me if Im wrong. So if Im correct, a 512 would be better. Am I completely wrong and can use a 128gb? That would be ace as I have plenty of those.
Does anyone have a recommendation for a small(er) drive thats quick for windows 11?

The reason you dont want such a small drive is you wont have any room to install anything else. As for the differences in the size of the drives that has almost no bearing on the speed when the way it connects to the motherboard is what matters. If its sata its fine but nvme is a lot faster. Don't use an HDD for windows it will be a very unpleasant experience. According to the internet windows needs at least 64 gigs and if you don't mind have no room one of your 128g drives is likely fine.

Ah ok, I was planning on keeping all the files and program installations on a different drive. I know some programs are fussy about which drive they are installed to but 60gb should be plenty for what I use my pc for.
I would get a nvme but my mobo has one spot for it and its occupied. Cheers.

Sounds good just avoid HDDs they suck.
