My wife and I are looking for electric bikes to easily get around the city but aren’t looking to break the bank. What would you recommend as the best ebikes on a budget?

This sounds like an endorsed ad.

They're 100% getting paid for this shit. Check out their other comments like this. They all lead back to the same subreddit and link to some "wajidcreates" site. Didn't click through because I'm not about to even given them click-through rate on that shit, but it sounds like they're affiliate farming.

I'm selling MY E-Bike if you're interested. :) I got the battery upgraded so it can last longer, and charge faster. Dead to full= 2 hour charge. No Pedals unfortunately they snapped off in a small accident a year back(tipped over going 4kph checking my blind-spot while turning)
Bike's got an interesting history. She was stolen from me back in August 2023, I got her back Sept 27th, 2023, and on Sept 27, 2024 I finally got her back to working order.
If you or anyone else is interested, let me know. I planned on selling in Spring, but if you need it now, I could sell now. :)
Price: 2K willing to negotiate price, but I'm not selling for like $500. XD

Yamaha Crosscore, hands down. They are on mega clearance, legit $3000 bikes on sale for $1200 with a free second battery and a 5 year warranty. You can find a dealer close to home or buy online and have it shipped.
The components and craftsmanship are going to be leaps and bounds better than any of these chinese mystery meat bikes. Buy with supreme confidence.

I’d recommend the Vivi 26" Cruiser for comfort and power, and the Gotrax Nano if you want something small and lightweight for the city. Both are great for the price!

The Jasion EB5 Electric Bike is an excellent choice. The ride is incredibly smooth, and the battery holds up surprisingly well for daily usage.
it's even light enough to haul up stairs or hop on public transportation without a hassle. For the price, it's hard to beat.

My wife has been loving her BEECOOL Electric Bike lately—it’s become her go-to for everything from zipping to the grocery store to weekend trail rides! The 750W motor gives her enough power to tackle our hilly neighborhood without breaking a sweat, and she’s obsessed with the 80-mile range on the big 48V battery. No more ‘range anxiety’ for her coffee runs or after-work joyrides!
She raves about how comfortable it feels, even on bumpy roads, thanks to that lockable suspension fork (she switches it off for smooth pavement and on for our local trails). The turn signals were a game-changer—she feels safer making left turns in traffic, and I love knowing cars can see her. Plus, the rear rack lets her haul our reusable bags or even our dog’s crate… though I’m still waiting for her to volunteer for my errands!
What surprised her most? The 28 MPH speed (she’s a cautious rider but admits it’s fun when she needs to keep up with traffic). The 7-speed gears and hydraulic brakes make her feel in control, whether she’s pedaling hard for exercise or cruising in full electric mode. And the LCD display? She checks it like a pro—‘Only 20% battery left? Time to head home!’
Honestly, it’s been awesome seeing her so excited to get outside. She even joined a local e-bike group! If you’re looking for a bike that’s equal parts practical, powerful, and actually fun for everyday life, this one’s a winner.
