Yeah keep in mind it’s not the cheesy/campy version of the original.

It’s a more “real” version that was steeped in post-9/11 issues like war, terrorism, torture, faith/religion, along with typical sci-fi tropes like identity, what it means to be “alive” etc.

Another Sci-Fi tv show from around that same time that's SUPER underrated is Sarah Connor: The Terminator Chronicles from 2008.

Really good but unfortunately only two seasons. It stars that one lady from Game of Thrones (before she was in GOT) and also that girl from the movie Serenity (2005).

The recent (not that recent) series focused on cylons that looked like people and were organic so couldn't be distinguised from people.

The plot was character driven including underlying mistrust that someone who you knew was actually a cylon. The robot ones were still around but didn't show up that often.

I liked the OG show as a kid even though I recognized some of its cheesiness (like most SCI fi on tv up to that point - lost in space, Star Trek, etc). But the reboot was so absolutely amazing. Literally better than anything Star Trek has ever done.

I like the original show too but let's be honest. Star Trek's writing was Miles Ahead of Galactica with impactful stories that even touched on real world problems such as racism. Battlestar Galactica, ultimately, was just Mormon Star Wars.
