Did your school have a graduation song?

What was it? I remember Good riddance (Time of your life) by Greenday was a popular choice.
UpkeepUnicorn@reddit
We had Good Riddance and hilariously, Here's To the Night by Eve 6.
Sharptux44@reddit
Mine was this…https://youtu.be/yPYZpwSpKmA?si=1u_N-NcYt5l3UAdv
Stock_Currency@reddit
I don't remember but everyone was playing Hey Ya ad fricken nauseam.
Leeds13@reddit
Strangely mine went for a throwback 98’-“Here I Go Again” by Whitesnake
IceSmiley@reddit
Mine was Graduate by Third Eye Blind
Competitive-Tea-3517@reddit
Graduation by Vitamin C, same as every class of 2000 I'm sure.
threebeansalads@reddit
Yup… 2000. Hated this song then and hate it now. I feel like eventually it was replaced with “Time of your life” 🤢🤮… which is weird bc I think it came out first?
HimmelFart@reddit
All the senior night slideshows were set to Good Riddance, the Graduation events and parties played Vitamin C nonstop
Moon_Noodle@reddit
2006 here, ours was Time of Your Life" even though I and many others begged our senior committee to reconsider.
buffysmanycoats@reddit
lol my sisters was Graduation and mine was Time of Your Life 💀
rogue1206@reddit
HS used Vitamin C for our May 2001 graduation but in the fall of 2001 my University’s Greek Org used Time of your Life as the rush song. On repeat. For a week. Took a while before I could listen to it again without getting annoyed.
Competitive-Tea-3517@reddit
Yeah it was older, but more classic. Some of our classmates played an acoustic version at prom.
robbeau11@reddit
Class of 99. Time of your life by Green Day. Hate that damn song
scribblenator15@reddit
Yup, just happened to come out right as we were finishing production on our senior video. So it became the montage song
bgva@reddit
Yep. Any time our local Top 40 station played this, they'd insert voicemails from seniors shouting out their school.
Icy-Finance5042@reddit
Our 2000 song was by boys 2 men.
changrbanger@reddit
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tz_NxOF7RB4
todayIsinlgehandedly@reddit
Ours was supposed to be good riddance by Green Day voted on by students but the Chorus director whose daughter was in my class and loved vitamin C “couldn’t locate a copy of the sheet music” So we ended up with this trite bullshit.
MartialBob@reddit
We had some kind of Senior class picnic. When someone played that song on ofy classmates asked, demanded, he play something else immediately.
jennyann726@reddit
Yep and also that Baz Luhrmann Sunscreen song.
trav1829@reddit
After we had all walked across the stage our principal took the microphone and said “ and now we will play some special music from vitamin d”
quantum_leap@reddit
This was mine too
xmadjesterx@reddit
Yup. That song annoyed us so much. There's a fun parody of it from Collegehumor. It's basically about going off to college and losing touch with your best bro from high school
_sacrosanct@reddit
I graduated in 2000 and our choir sang Green Day’s “Good Riddance.” Lol.
Spartan04@reddit
Yep, same here.
Aka Canon in D (though to be fair many songs use that as a base).
Ok_I_Guess_Whatever@reddit
My friend was in that video 😂
Username_NullValue@reddit
and as our lives change, come whatever
Salty_Emu_9945@reddit
This was ours in 2001

slypmpkn19@reddit
1999 by Prince. That song was our theme song for everything including school dances, homecoming, etc. I'm c/o obviously.
MsBlondeViking@reddit
As a Minnesotan, I feel this. We couldn’t escape the song, but TBF none of us were complaining!
slypmpkn19@reddit
Same. To this day, I still kinda feel like this is my/our song.
MsBlondeViking@reddit
I’m ok with feeling like this forever honestly. Even as a small kid I loved Prince!
Wild_Manufacturer555@reddit
My brother had that and good riddance for his class songs in 1999
MashedPotatoesDick@reddit
Same. It got to the point where I couldn't stand it. They even played it at Grad Night at Disneyland.
dwooding1@reddit
I think it's why I avoided a deep dive into Prince for so long.
JaimePfe17@reddit
I will remember you, Sarah Mclaughlin, 1997
midliferose@reddit
Eve 6 - Here’s to the Night. Class of 99
KimberSliceAZDD@reddit
This was our class song for ‘02
Wild_Manufacturer555@reddit
I think that was my class song in 2002
cuentaderedd@reddit
Aww I used to love that song
FakeNamesAreReal@reddit
IDK, I got suspended that morning and wasn't allowed to go to the graduation. Then, the assholes made me wait 10 days to get my diploma. Honestly, I went to VoTech, so I was really disconnected from my graduating class, so even if I had been allowed on school property I wouldn't have e known what was going with songs and the year book crap.

iGingerBeard@reddit
Same in 2002. Played it on stage at graduation.

For '96, we got Smashing Pumkins Today at my suggestion. I knew they wouldn't let us have Bullet with Butterfly Wings, so that was about the edgiest I thought we could get away with.
Most of us really wanted Pink Floyd's We Don't Need No Ecucation... but surprise of surprises, the powers that be wouldn't let us have it (despite the school in the neighboring town having it the year before).

geekgirlwww@reddit
Okay so I don’t remember high school but 5th grade graduation the schools sound system broke and my neighbor had a DJ business so he stepped in. I don’t remember how we convinced but we hated the music teacher so at the end he played “We Go Together” from Grease instead. We had learned the song in music class so we did know the lyrics well enough and the parents thought it was a great graduation song.
It did help that his youngest was graduating so he never had to deal with anyone in the school again.
