Yes because nothing is built for this kind of weather here. 0 infrastructure. Houses are made of paper. And bullshit central heating will drain your wallet if not natural gas does š„²š„“ sorry had to vent.
As someone who is about to relocate to Washington state, it gives me a bit of comfort knowing that the current Dallas weather hasnāt bothered me. I know itās only a few days versus weeks on end, but it hasnāt slowed me down.
I keep track of the amount of time spent with windchills below freezing and heat indexes above 100F. I've only been doing it since 2019, but this year with this expected week, we are about to blow past 418 hours below freezing of 2021. We are currently at 383 hours which has been about the average for the past 5 years. And this year started super slow, with less than 100 hours going into January 1.
If you are curious, we generally spend about 500 hours above 100F heat index, and the horrible summer of 2023 had 700 hours.
Dallas is more balanced than one might think between wind chill below freezing and heat index above 100F, only about 100 hours generally separate most years. 100 hours is about 4 full 24 hour days. The difference is the cold hours are generally in the middle of the night and early morning when people are sleeping, the heat is at 1:00pm-10:00pm when we want to do stuff.
Preach, this weather is making me want Spring to just be here already. It keeps teasing us with these nice 70 degree days and then goes right back to at least āI need multiple layersā cold.
Lol I've been going for walks this week. Long ones. The weather has been chill as hell. This isn't bad at all. Just chilly. If you dress for it, it's almost nice, and i absolutely hate the cold

This week has had among the shittiest weather I can remember ever experiencing here. Cold, damp, windy. Not even raining, just fucking damp.
Least maybe the sun will shine a bit.
