There’s one day of lineup here that I would pay to see. Unfortunately, it’s split up over three days and interrupted by a bunch of objectively terrible acts. Vampire weekend and Modest Mouse -OK. But I have to sit through Good Charlotte? I used to beat the shit out of pop punk fans in high school and then force them to listen to the Stooges.
Natty-Bones@reddit
Good Charlotte are local boys for this festival, they are from Maryland.
PotentialPlum4945@reddit
So are Animal Collective and Beach House. Doesn’t change the fact that Good Charlotte still sucks donkey balls.
Natty-Bones@reddit
Neither of those bands are from the same era. Which of the Madison brothers hurt you?
PotentialPlum4945@reddit
They both predate Vampire Weekend and both of the Madison brothers hurt my ears.
marbotty@reddit
Good Charlotte apparently is a lot more popular than I thought? They are grating to listen to.
I would have expected VW, Modest Mouse and Franz Ferdinand to have gotten top billing that day.
fuelvolts@reddit
This looks awesome and I was willing to travel for this, but bare bones GA tickets start at $350. I mean gawd damn.
jaymoney1@reddit
All 3 day tickets are sold out, even the $7000 ones. Ther3 are some 1 day tickets left depending on the day and tier. Ridiculous
DoctorFenix@reddit
It’s 3 days long.
I don’t understand why people think this is expensive.
RoyalPuzzleheaded259@reddit
$350 for three days isn’t bad but $350 is a lot of money to a lot of people.
AgentGnome@reddit
Not only that, but if your married and both would want to go, that is $700. That is hard to justify to the family budget.
Unkindly_Possession@reddit
to me it’s the lineup. Not really anyone I’d pay to see now by themselves, let alone 3 days worth.
fuelvolts@reddit
All about context. $350 isn’t a lot of money for a car payment, but a ton of money for entertainment. For some people. Including me.
jimicus@reddit
It's not that it's expensive.
It's that I've reached a point that I doubt I have the stamina to make it through three days. I certainly don't if kipping in a tent is involved.
actionerror@reddit
Who do they think they are, EDC?
RightInTheBuff@reddit
Modest Mouse is charging $70 before taxes and fees for GA at their shows. This is 3 solid days of music, with 50 artists playing, for only 4 times that price.
Cautious-Ad-6866@reddit
Right! $350 is a lot of cash but concert tickets aren’t cheap, you’d pay well over a $100 to see several of these bands alone.
NachoNachoDan@reddit
Fuck, seriouisly? I just want to go on Friday. I could give a fuck about the saturday lineup.
Basic_Ad4861@reddit
Yeah. Maybe it’s because I’m old, but Fridays lineup seems so much better then Saturday or Sunday
bluemitersaw@reddit
1 day tickets are $175
NachoNachoDan@reddit
Which is even more ridiculous!
IronSloth@reddit
i just paid $300 to see NIN :(
shivermeknitters@reddit
$350 for bare bones tickets for 3 days is bullshit. I don't see why people think this is a deal. $175 for half of the time for 1/3 of the experience? Bullshit.
new_account_5009@reddit
You get a better deal buying in bulk. That's been a thing forever.
Also, $350 for 3 days isn't bad at all. It works out to about $117/day. The $350 is the all-in price too: No additional fees like you typically see for this sort of thing that would push the price up above $500. I go to a ton of concerts, and a typical show at a local venue near me is like $40 before fees, and $60+ after fees. That gets you 2-3 bands and a show that starts at 7pm. For double that price (i.e., the $117/day this show is charging), you get access to a lot more than double the bands and double the time.
I'm more of a rock/metal fan, so I'll be skipping this show, but if I liked the lineup better, I'd be on it in a heartbeat.
oakomyr@reddit
Shame it’s that expensive. Plenty of 14 yo millionaire YouTubers and their tripods can go tho
fidgetypenguin123@reddit
The ones that don't even appreciate it or know who's even on the stage.
spottydodgy@reddit
Maybe it'll be live streamed?
IceSmiley@reddit
That's kind of shit that it's in September when Ocean City is a ghost town. Id consider going if it was in the summer. I like Noah Kahan as the token young guy 🤣
graveybrains@reddit
Holdup… DJ Jazzy Jeff?!?
porn_syrup@reddit
https://i.redd.it/rwe9h0xfybje1.gif
LucyRebar@reddit
I was about to say, wasn't he killed??
Then I googled it and realized I confused him with Jam Master J.
graveybrains@reddit
I havent heard that guys name since the fresh prince of bel air ended
marbotty@reddit
It’s just an instrumental version of Parents Just Don’t Understand
djblackprince@reddit
I'd go just for Collective Soul, the rest is just extra icing.
Eradicator_1729@reddit
Not for me
Toy0dan@reddit
Same, I don’t see a single band I’d pay money to see…
megamanx4321@reddit
I would love to see about half of these artists.
CaptZombieHero@reddit
The Old Home Calling Festival
Ok-Potato-4774@reddit
I would so go to the Friday night show. Spin Doctors!
Stardustchaser@reddit
Wow this sounds so fun.
Smart business move as many of us this age (30-55) might just make their budget work for a nostalgia bomb like this.
nocabec@reddit
Xennial from MD here. I just got my tickets to go to this festival for the 3rd year in a row. It's a huge deal around here. I've had an awesome time the last two years and I'm sure I will again. Yes, the bands are playing to nostalgia but I promise it's a great festival.
tubagoat@reddit
Who is Noah Kahan, and why does he have a headline spot over Cake. That's some bullshit.
buffysmanycoats@reddit
He’s a very popular artist currently. Very folksy stuff, quite enjoyable in my opinion.
JHerbY2K@reddit
Looks shitty but it’s hosted by the pie fucker!
TedAndAnnetteFleming@reddit
Fountains of Wayne without Adam Schlesinger? Oof. Cannot.
asdf072@reddit
I hate festivals, but this looks good.
cheffartsonurfood@reddit
Blind Melon got a new singer? When did that happen?
Unkindly_Possession@reddit
Shannon came back
Robot-Candy@reddit
How tf is Noah khan and good Charolette getting better billing than Modest Mouse lol
sundayfunday78@reddit
I would so find a way to go to the first night, but I’m West Coast Canada….just can’t do it. $$, ⏱️, and the Cheeto Bandito.
lawnboy1155@reddit
Hosted by Jason Biggs
nicorosbergisachump@reddit
“Hey wait a second! Aren’t you that guy that fucked a pie?”
TPS-RPRT@reddit
Yeah well, in prison he’ll be the pie
GargantuanGreenGoats@reddit
Friday looks good
I_AM_DEATH-INCARNATE@reddit
Michelle Branch was my guilty pleasure in college. Loved Hotel Paper
Beanz4ever@reddit
Uh this event sounds dope. Hosted by Jason Biggs? Famous chefs in attendance?
Take my money
pheldozer@reddit
I saw 9 of these bands live before 2001
tcorey@reddit
How did Nelly become the go to rapper who appears at these. He plays all the country music fests too.
kittensbabette@reddit
A lot of these bands are playing a festival in St Paul this summer too
loganrunjack@reddit
Who sings for Blind Melon now?
wuh613@reddit
I saw the poster and thought the same thing
PharmerGord@reddit
I'm thrown off by the choices for font sizes for some of these bands. I get that it may be my local area wasn't into certain things, but En Vogue (Never heard of them) larger than Franz Ferdinand?
Also I am glad that one of the earliest video memes on the internet that I remember is captured here, I just how they have a He-man nod in whatever the 4 Non Blondes have on stage! Also Natasha Bedingfield is a great one to have on here
I'm jealous of those that can go! Looks like fun!
heyitspokey@reddit
En Vogue definitely bigger than whoever Franz F is. No hate to Franz F,maybe great. But En Vogue huge, as far as pop/r&b in that era concerned.
PharmerGord@reddit
yeah I get that, I was just surprized, and I assumed it had something to do with local music scenes 15-20 years ago!
DiscordianStooge@reddit
En Vogue's peak was over 30 years ago.
hellocousinlarry@reddit
Are you sure you’re an Xennial? Never heard of En Vogue?
CloakOfElvenkind@reddit
Always thought 4 Non Blondes were underrated and misunderstood to a decent degree. Glad to see they are back in the game...maybe we get some new material soon.
UpkeepUnicorn@reddit
I would have loved this like 20-25 years ago
somewhereoutther@reddit
I am picturing this concert 20 something years ago. All of these bands in their prime and Noah Kahan in diapers playing a playschool guitar.
UpkeepUnicorn@reddit
Haha that really would be something 🤣
I am a little curious since I haven't looked into it, but who are Blind Melon and Fountains of Wayne getting to replace their deceased members?
DiscordianStooge@reddit
Max from Eve 6 is fronting Fountains of Wayne. He's a fun follow if you're on Bluesky.
DiscordianStooge@reddit
Noah Kahan is younger than most of these bands.
MundaneMeringue71@reddit
I loved me some Live back in the day. Nice to see they are still around.
The_Last_Mouse@reddit
frougle_mcdugal@reddit
Ooh. The Voltaggio brothers are going to be there. I wonder what they are gonna cook up?
Orbiter9@reddit
Yes.
I’ve gone the past 2 years and it’s an exceptionally chill audience. Huge audience. But chill. Some people bring their kids.
Ghosts_of_the_maze@reddit
I don’t like most of these bands. But Weezer did a Pinkerton heavy concert 23 years ago that I still love. There are a few acts in here that I’d pay to see, but the majority are a skip for me.
judasmitchell@reddit
Noah Kahan is great.
mpreston81@reddit
Last year's was MUCHH better in that regard.....however the hurricane remnants had other ideas for that particular concert.
Voluntary_Perry@reddit
Green Day sucks!!!!!!!
SaltyPinKY@reddit
Quit posting this....Jesus. Some of us still want affordable concert tickets. You all aren't even getting paid to promote. It's an awesome lineup....but quit spreading it.
Even_Candidate5678@reddit
What is more adorable than that? It’s less than similar festivals and a great lineup. I think my wife paid 500 for some very average tickets and to a traditional concert a few months ago.
SaltyPinKY@reddit
It won't be less when the resellers get wind of it...
RoyalPuzzleheaded259@reddit
I really wanna go to this but can’t afford tickets.
minnesnowta@reddit
Very similar to the Minnesota Yacht Club festival: https://cdn.prod.website-files.com/677e8da8d83b93a64a43d517/679d345ec196ef686334926a_MYC25_Admat-general-1080x1350-p-1600.png
moonbunnychan@reddit
This legit looks like it could have been a concert poster in 2000 lol
NotEvenHere4It@reddit
It’s a sweet lineup fr.
