No, America has a government problem, not a drug problem. Plenty of other countries have identified and solved this issue. For example, the US had tons of fantastic scientific research in the 50s and 60s that psychedelics were extremely beneficial for mental health treatment. Then, the war on drugs classified them as schedule 1 (which means there is no medical value whatsoever). They falsified all sorts of medical research, showing that they killed large numbers of testing patients and put enormous holes in your brain. They put out all sorts of propaganda as well. Only now is the medical community questioning that at a mainstream level, and drugs like Ketamine, MDMA and others are back in trials for medical treatment. Guess what? They are proving to have tons of benefits in treating mental disorders.

That is to also say that we would massively benefit from having safe supply for opiates. Between safe supply and allowing pain management to have more than 50% of their patients be on opiates, we would stop the fentanyl issue extremely quickly.

We don't have a drug problem, we have a government problem. With an easy solution, if only we had a government that could actually solve problems, instead of creating them and convoluting them.

Nah, it's more of the fact that larger political issues get sent to the news more often. The news sometimes report "journalist dead because cartel" but just like Congo and Sudan, it doesn't effect anything politically or anyone outside the region as much as Gaza or Ukraine.
