NOTAMs renamed back to "Notice to Airmen" as government gets to grips with recent spate of aviation incidents

Along with this decisive action, renaming Gulf of Mexico to Gulf of America and Denali to Mount McKinley on aviation charts is expected to reap huge rewards in aviation safety /s

The decision to change it to Air Missions was dumb. The decision to change it back to Airman is dumb. We have far more important things to be concerned about. Hell, how about changing the format of NOTAMs into a legible document with pertinent information. Why are we abbreviating things in 2025, we aren't strapped for bandwidth or printer ink. This may come as a shocker, but I don't need to know about a 'future' crane that will be 10 miles from the airport at 200ft.

It was just dumb. What about standardization then? Would the FAA have to change their airman certification branch? Change airman certification standards? Would I have to get a new air missions certificate? 🤣 This also saves money. All the automated systems that say “notice to airmen” had to be reprogrammed to say “notice to air missions” and a lot of places dragged their heels so as not to have to pay for that. Also it’s just grammatically correct. You’re not giving a notice to the air missions right? You’re giving a notice to the airmen.

It was obviously an attempt to account for the fact that many "airmen" weren't men. It was a pretty lame attempt IMO Changing it back to what'll be seen now as a sexist term is even lamer. It's just another petty move in the War on Woke I'd have gone for "Air Maestro" tbh
