Any suggestions on best places to visit in the UK?

Hi, I’m a Geordie and always lived in the UK. I’ve booked our regular holiday but not until October as we are going with friends and had to go with when they could get time off. It feels like I have to wait a million years. We’re thinking of having a Thursday - Monday break away the first week of June ish. I have looked at Brighton and Newquay and also the Lake District. Has anyone got any hidden gems we could try? I don’t mind the mode of transport for getting there - car/train or plane. I’ve travelled quite a lot in the uk but mainly for work so could do with enjoying myself in some places. I love places like York or Matlock bath where you can just chill and have some nice food but if anyone can recommend some places I’d be really grateful.

North Wales is stunning. A few of us stayed in Ffestiniog, did some walking around the village and went to black sands beach near Porthmadog. Beautiful part of the country and the locals were really friendly. Some old boy near where we stayed told us to check out the miner's choir that evening. He was just really proud and wanted us to experience it.

If you love York, youd probably also love Lincoln and Chester. And if you love Matlock Bath, you'd also love Skipton, Ilkley and Hartogate.

Oh I’ve been to Chester but only for a night and I loved it. Il look at the other places too though. I’ve heard of Lincoln but I don’t know where it is. I think I’ve always been put off shipton as it has the word skip in it 😆

You probably don't know where Lincoln is cuz it's quite isolated lol. The nearest city is either Nottingham or Doncaster but even then, they're still like 40 miles. Don't be put off by Skipton's name lol. Skipton itself and the surrounding scenery are lovely and it's a mill town like Matlock Bath.

UK wise we always live Pembrey country park in south wales. You need a caravan or tent but there are local hire companies. It’s got a beach, tobaggan, ski centre, woodlands for biking and walking, lots of other activities too.

I'm a huge fan of Dorset because that's where my family's from originally. I went to the village my gran's from and a very friendly local took me on a long dog walk and showed me where the PoW camp was during the war. For me, sometimes the best trips during the summer are when you just find somewhere and explore.
