MK golfers! What golf courses do you recommend?

Recommendations for courses which aren't too busy or expensive, and allow singles on weekends would be ideal. (And if it's possible to book 9 holes after work in summer that's a bonus also)
I recently moved to central Milton Keynes and started playing golf again, but I don't really know anyone here. I'm not sure if I will became a member anywhere, so might just try get on as a single on different courses every few weekends.
If anyone's also looking for someone to play a round with, let me know! I used to be a ~7 handicap several years ago for context

I know people who travel a long way to come to Woburn specifically

Woburn - without a doubt 😎

There’s plenty of choice within 30mins drive. Would probably split them something like this:
The cheap/quiet basement clubs: Windmill (long and tests the driver) Tilsworth (tiny horrendous greens) Chalgrave (some good some bad) Wyboston (when it’s not flooded or a nightmare to get to because of roadworks)
The next rung: Three Locks (first 6 holes will tire you out for the rest) Abbey Hill (tries to be upper tier but far from it) Silverstone (hope you like the distant noise of car engines) Aylesbury Vale (lots of ways to play if you don’t have time for 18)
The “not quite Woburn” group: Milbrook (couple of real fitness tests) Aspley Guise (not my cup of tea but belongs here) Buckingham (bit of a thinkers “put the driver away” course)

Thank you so much for all these recs! Will give em a try

I’d add in Whittlebury Park in the middle/last group. Very good course, only played it in winter but was in great condition.

I was thinking of trying Windmill as I saw in this comment that it's not too busy - https://www.reddit.com/r/miltonkeynes/comments/1cg768v/best_golf_driving_range/l1uulog/

Was a member here for a long time. Based on the rain over the last few days it will be literally unplayable (front 9 likely to be closed). It's an absolute boggy hellhole in the rain and the greens are a state. The "winter tees" are also just plonked down in the rough ATM. Crows seem to take to the greens like crack and have pecked holes everywhere 🤣

I ended up playing it earlier today and that was exactly my experience 😂 Thank god I did a later cheaper tee time otherwise I would've been pretty miffed paying £25+ for 9 hole mud bath haha

Aspley Guise and Woburn Sands golf club is my home course. Greens are always in great condition and I'm sure if you phone the pro shop they'll tell you the rates for 9 holes. Bring on the summer evenings with golf after work!

Arguably better greens at Aspley than Woburn, year round!

Woburn is lovely, and the restaurant is even nicer.

Currently a member at Silverstone.. its okay, its not that busy most of the time. Downside it can get a little wet at times.
