Ratchet Strap Style Hood Latch?

So I'm looking to put some custom hood straps on my project car. I was thinking something [like these](https://lockandloadtransport.com.au/products/retractable-ratchet-day-night-use?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiAtYy9BhBcEiwANWQQL5iMeH7iCN-EnW9M8jFfFtzE792yilJ_1-ERV43nOOPVRnf92qSA7BoC7QQQAvD_BwE) but I don't need 3.6m, in fact I need about 12" Preferably something with a drum, that can go up through a loop, double back on that loop, and go back to the ratchet. I did think of Camlocks, but with the suspension setup and rough roads where I live, Camlocks will just vibrate loose.

Because most of the others can't seem to hold back the new hood springs

My Polaris has big rubber band things that go around a post on the body to hood the hood down.

I did think these, but since I put new hood springs on, those aren't strong enough to hold it down

You could shorter the strap to fit the length you need. You could also make your own tabs and make your own out of any strap.

I don't really see any reason to do this or any benefits it would have over a normal hood latch or hood pins.
