It’s not universally agreed to be good, but definitely the most popular ecosystem is HUB. 

Hub works like: - on the suppressor side, lots of cans are being manufactured with 1.375x24 adapters in the back. This gets replaced with a hub-compatible adapter. Just unscrews. Look at the Rearden Atlas for an example.  - on the MD side, you get a device with the tapered threads that hub uses. Have to make sure it’s not too long for your can, I.e. smacking the baffles. Look at a Rearden SPB for an example - screw can with adapter onto muzzle device. Taper prevents carbon from coming back, and MD from seizing on the can. 

The down side is that the threads are the only real standard, so it’s Wild West, and you could be sacrificing performance by not using what the can’s designer intended. Jay from PewScience has decided that HUB was a mistake, but despite all the testing I’m not convinced that guy is all that authoritative, based on a few conversations we’ve had. 

Contrast that with something like the SureFire or HUXWRX muzzle devices, and you notice that the devices are designed as part of the suppressor; you can imagine that just arbitrarily swapping that part of the system out would change performance, and probably not for the better. 

That said: I am not an operator, I can sacrifice a few dB, and the convenience of HUB outweighs a small performance hit, for me.
