I still quote this movie regularly
If I’m not the first person to list this as a formative movie, let me know. Otherwise, I’m surprised that I am the first. Amazing film, and brings up many issues about our current society. As many of Philip K Dicks‘s stories did.

Right up there with Hauer's "I've witnessed things you would doubt... Attack vessels off the shores of Oregon..."

I started referring to my ex as a "skin-job" after I found out how many guys she cheated on me with in high school. About 5 years ago, I run into her and her husband at a locals bar. Her husband introduces himself, and having had several drinks before, I blurted out "Oh...Ole Skin-Job got somebody to buy the free cow eh"? It devolved into fist fight after that.

My gosh, I just posted that. Vangelis combined with the familiar dialog and trance like ambience is so soothing. I usually fade off around the Captain Bryant scene.

Rutgers Hauer was the first Dutch actor I knew to star in an American blockbuster. It made me so proud to be Dutch as a young teenager. Such a great movie.

Milk and cookies kept you awake...? Did you get your precious photos? Nothing is worse than having an itch you can never scratch. Wake up, time to die. Is this testing whether I'm a replicant or a lesbian, Mr. Deckard? If you're not cop, you're little people. He say you Blade Runner. I just do eyes. Just eyes. He can breath okay as long as nobody unplugs him. I was quit when I came in here. I'm twice as quit now. Yeah, I may have seen this movie once or twice.

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off (the) shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.

I do like the cinema version. But, I met Ridley Scott and asked him about the directors cut. He was quite clear that it was his preferred version. When I asked him why he did the directors cut version, he said “because I could” As a result, I have the director’s cut version in my dvd collection, and it’s grown on me over the years. That said, I kind of like Ford’s obviously bored narration in the cinema version since it helps clarify some of the plot points.

I have been talking music with a 22 year old at work. I watched his brain glitch when I had him look up Blade Runner Blues on his phone. He just stood there and listened, dead still as in nearly catatonic. When it finished he looked at me in utter disbelief and walked away in silence.

It’s one of my go-to fall asleep to movies (just the audio). Vangelis combined with the familiar dialog and ambience is soothing. I say “home again home again, jiggity jig” and no one in my household gets it.
