all that CAR-15 needs is a dual drum mag and an internal feeding mechanism shaped like the infinity symbol

The Navy Seal is Chuck Pfarrer. He also wrote the Sam Rami film "Darkman".

And he has/had a pretty questionable Twitter account, spreading bogus about the Ukraine war.

Though no longer listed, Brownells sold 25 round straight mag as recently as 2023.

Info? It's a stanag mag with a straight design used in Vietnam. Aside from it lacking a curve it's the same as every other stanag mag...

I had no idea, I always thought it went straight from 20 to 30 rounders, I've never seen them before but they look very interesting, I wonder how they performed.

There are 5, 10, 20, 25, 27, 28, 30, 40, 50, 55, 60 round mags that fit the stanag pattern.

There was a lot of experimentation with this platform during this time, so I think the 25 round mags were a short lived part of that? I dont think it took too long between the adoption of the M16 with 20 round mags and the eventual design and adoption of the 30 rounders we know today.

This image is actually of a blank firing MGC XM177 (note the odd looking forward assist and bolt carrier; the photo is of a real training exercise, but no idea why they were using these). This photo is pretty popular and I haven't seen anyone ever notice that

*checks profile* *sees r/retroar* KNEW it. Literally no other AR fanbase besides MAYBE r/militaryarclones would know that much about a very specific AR off the top of their head. Good shit.

That was actually all metal cap firing MGC prop gun. The rifle version also was used extensively in Stanley Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket movie. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?vanity=gunsshopbrussels&set=a.864572056935758

Nice spot, the magazine just sticks out as I have a few steel 20 rounders to compare to.

Looks like a straight 30 round mag but I've never seen those before.
