Biden half-assed Ukraine the same way he half-assed everything. I mean seriously, it is ridiculous that it took like 18 months for Ukraine to get any 50 year old Western jets. There are zero Western countries that would even consider launching a major offensive without overwhelming air support.
It's too early to pass judgement on how Trump is gonna handle it but Putin is being dumb saying stuff like he won't even talk to Zelensky when Trump doesn't seem willing to dance to that tune. The overwhelming sentiment from the MAGA camp pre-election was to throw Ukraine under the bus, Don Jr's statements were particularly overt on this, but Trump is at least throwing a bit of hope Ukraine's way for now.
I definitely agree with this. Biden thought he lived in 1990 when both parties had disagreements but lived in a shared reality so there were plenty of opportunities for working together and compromising. Same problem Garland had. These dinosaurs are all stuck in the America they came up in, and not the America as it exists today.
I'm hoping we can get some young blood in the DNC before 2026. That will pick like 3 things, and just hammer Republicans on. Sadly it seems they're getting caught up in the firehose of bullshit already. AOC, Crockett, and a few others seem to be the only people who are ready for the next 4 years.
I think it would be kinda funny if when we’re all old America is super united and all the grandchildren are chill but we’re just cranky old people who refuse to talk to anyone of opposite political parties due to the Cold Civil War and the American Troubles of 2030s.
So kind of the opposite of today
I genuinely think he just wants to stop the war. Be it for a moral reason or a monetary one - likely the second one, seeing as he's attempting to reduce spending on all fronts. I'm pretty sure his goal is to get some of our debt down so he can go down as the first modern president to get that ball rolling, and it'd look terrible on the next president if we fall back into our national debt cycle.
Trump has no concrete goals of any kind nor does he have any real understanding of geopolitics, he does whatever the person who most recently kissed his ass with the most vigor tells him to do.

How did you interpret my comment as a "ree" lmao? I think the guy is deeply unintelligent and unfit for the job, it's pretty simple. If you care to try to dispute that in some way that actually makes sense I'm all ears, but that seems kind of unlikely lol.
>deeply unintelligent and blatantly unfit
How is it that this administration has been more transparent about its intent and more effective in the last week than the previous one was for the past 4 years? Seriously; things are changing and action is being taken in a directly noticeable way.
Reddit is (obviously) shrill about it. And shame on Reddit for being so disengaged and quick to pounce on uncreative and unidimensional answers.
Further, these politicians (love them or hate them) are primarily highly intelligent and highly manipulative cynics. There may be exception but to call {{opposite_side_leadership}} stupid is something that gives them power. ItS wHaT ThEy WaNt yOu tO tHiNk
Y'know, I'd expect more critical thinking out of a fellow Zappa enjoyer but I suppose I'm too hopeful.
"Transparency" isn't telling mind-boggingly stupid lies about "sending the military to turn on the water" on Truth social (as Trump did). Or making ridiculous false claims about the Biden admin spending 50,000,000 dollars in outgoing aid money on JUST condoms. And so on.
>military to turn on water
>The California Department of Water Resources said that wasn't true; the water was turned on after being offline for maintenance.
Ok, so an adversarial governmental department took action after public scrutiny and embarrassment due to being called out by the chief executive. On paper they have plausible deniability, but it's about as believable as the OJ case.
I live here in California. I've been to every county from Modoc to Imperial, and most of our national forests. I was even at Skull Rock (epicenter of the Palisades fire) on New Years eve. Part of why it all burned was due to a *40 minute response time* I have pictures to prove I've been to all of these places. Our state is managed incredibly poorly. It's no wonder to me that we have megafires, bad infrastructure, extreme poverty, and high crime. I'm going to believe my own lying eyes; not ~~pravda~~ legacy media.
I don't know about you, but I listened to the whole of the Harris-Trump debate without watching it. It was lacking in any cohesion. It dawned on me that its sole function was to be sliced into soundbites for people (you, perhaps?) who take information at face value and low depth.
You're welcome to split hairs and clutch at your narrative of "stupid {{opponent}}", but to tell you the truth if you perseverate on headlines and soundbites *I* am the chad mark twain and you are the soy hog-in-the-mud.
>Ok, so an adversarial governmental department took action after public scrutiny and embarrassment due to being called out by the chief executive.
The water system Trump was talking about has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with fire hydrants anywhere in California, it serves to irrigate megafarms mostly.
The half assed nature is the most infuriating thing. The current dems *still* haven’t learned everything and are run by a bunch of poli-sci pollsters who grew up wealthy. It’s so frustrating watching Biden half ass everything, be surprised they lost the election by only committing to half measures, and *only then* actually commit to do anything. I swear Ukraine got more stuff in the three months since the election than it did for the previous year.
If there’s a narrative to be had from the election it’s that people crave the idea of authentic. Trump comes off as it - even if he isn’t (how the fuck else can you justify the stupid shit), while every dem comes off as robots designed by committee.
Exactly. I actually read that AOC tried to explain this to her fellow Dems in the House/Senate, that people (especially young people) crave the authentic, and they just brushed her off as if she didn't know anything.
Something you can't ignore about Democrats is they're all lawyers. Like every recent Democratic presidential nominee has been a lawyer. And if there's one thing I know about lawyers its that everyone fucking hates them
Casualties can mean;
\- Captured
\- Missing in action
\- Wounded
\- Killed
Casualties can also be deceiving and not paint the full picture. A wounded soldier can be patched up and sent back to the front, but some don't and either die of their wounds or get sent home. A MIA soldier can also be found and returned to duty, same with a captured soldier (via a prisoner exchange). When that happens, the number doesn't get deducted accordingly. So when government estimates say "800k+ casualties" it doesn't mean "800k+ dead", it just means "800k+ dead, wounded, missing in action or captured"
Thanks for explaining the distinction… that I made… should I edit to “not solely fatalities” or do you think you can piece together context clues without me having to spoon feed them to you?
There's no wining for the US - either we're meddling in the affairs of the world too much or we're not meddling in the affairs of the world enough. Protect everyone but don't have any impact.
Look it's extremely simple:
\- Problem exists because of US meddling -> meddle to fix it
\- Other scenarios -> don't.
That's all everyone expects of the US, too bad you guys have been doing about the opposite in every scenario possible.
I'm not saying every action is good or justified. We've done plenty of bad stuff and continue to do so. My point is if something bad happens and we were involved in, it's our fault. If something bad happens and we weren't involved, it's our fault.
I’m stupid so someone help me understand, is anon Ukrainian or Russian? Because I know we’ve been slacking on helping Ukraine but also people keep saying current government is too friendly with Russia and all that, so who’s mad about not getting help?
Started out as an identification marking for a particular attack direction during the initial invasion, with other marks being used on different fronts. For some damned reason, the Z stuck and became an icon of the whole fucking war to the point that the entire Russian military is using it. There were even Z markings on their aircraft in *Syria.*
Basically, treat it as the new swastika.
'supposed too', imagine making a symbol out of the designation of a failed offensive operation. Russian army literally could not be more pathetic if they tried
During the military buildup before the invasion, Russian vehicles were seen spray-painted with the letters Z, O, or V.
To this day the most likely theory was that they were army group markings, denoting whether a given group of soldiers were from Army Group West (West in Russian is Zapad), or Army Group East (Vostok)
This is correct but to add some nuance
I was in a class in college where the professor used to oversee Equal Housing Opportunity cases in a major city. He has one case land on his desk where the client observed a landlord folder where it contained a number of files with Z marks on them.
Upon closer inspection pulling the folder out and reading it (like the landlord would) it reoriented to a N. It wasn't hard to explain after that.
This is the first time I've seen it used towards Ukrainians in this context but it's definitely been around
When Trump said he would end the war in Ukraine the left took it to mean he would let Russia win, because whenever Trump is vague about anything they jump to the most extreme evil
Well if you can come up with a way Trump can "end the RUS - UKR war", which doesn't involve potential nuclear armageddon, or giving Putin what he wants, then ok it's left wing propaganda.
Otherwise I'll take it as him saying he wants to let Putin win.
We saw his *hundred day peace plan* just now and it's basically just handing Putin everything he could want. Return of Kursk territory, no equivalent de-occupation of Ukrainian lands, no NATO protections, Europe foots the bill for damages, basically just setting Ukraine up to be finished off in the inevitable next war.
Well, I damn sure don't want my country that's already funding most of the Ukrainian side to fund the cleanup. Europe can handle that part as far as I'm concerned.
Being mad at America would've been based if not giving a shit about those clowns wasn't an option that is far more attractive.
The US will burn down and I will not care. Medicaid was just the start.
