Walmart ebike - Concord Brand
Posted by Mstngairplane@reddit | ebikes | View on Reddit | 46 comments

Walmart appears to be making bikes under their house bike brand Concord. The specs seem to be very solid for $500 with a 350 watt hub motor and 10ah battery, as well as some entry level Shimano parts. Recently Walmart has had a lot of success in the budget bike community with their Ozark Trail mountain bikes and now gravel bike that seem to be actual good bikes for the money, and personally I am hoping they can achieve a similar result in the ebike space. What does everyone think of these?

I would choose this over a similarly specced and priced bike online. A real store is even worth an extra 50 bucks or so
AssistPublic622908@reddit
But walmart isn't a bike store, they won't service or assist with it.
deleted_by_reddit@reddit
They WILL however take a return directly to the store.
AssistPublic622908@reddit
No, no they won't. Read their return policy on bikes.
deleted_by_reddit@reddit
Actually they will. The key is to not buy through their site - and potentially a reseller. If you buy it in-store, you can return it in-store. It is still a pretty shit return policy, but possible. Here's the applicable exclusions:

You didn't read the end or the bicycle section of it. Nor have you actually done it because you can't. Don't know why your pushing their crap bikes so hard, maybe your an investor or want people to get hurt? Either way your helping them hurt people and take their money. Man your sick, get help. Just get help.
Dear_Insurance_7008@reddit
It literally says disassemble the bike before returning it to the store...why would they have you "disassemble the bike before returning it to the store" if you cant return it to the store lol it's very clear that it is Marketplace items that cant and disassembled bikes can.
Artistic-Channel773@reddit
Dude your weird!
Practical_Tie_3928@reddit
Yes they will take returns ik plenty of people that returned theirs cause they grew past it and i mean got cars, and also walmart is better to get it at cause then its assembled and you dont have to get mad trying to piece it together and endup throwing away 550 dollars
ThnkHarder@reddit
So let me get this straight….You actually think you’re a better person because you have a car?
ThnkHarder@reddit
I returned a bike same day without any problems as a matter of fact you can return the bike to a different Walmart & they’ll accept the return
tracy997@reddit
Just got the step over style, love it and already got miles on it❤️❤️ One thing - I assembled the bike and I can’t get the front fender on? Seems like the mounting brackets are too short? Any suggestions, I’m not giving up 🤦♀️😹😹
Imaginary_Thought177@reddit
Same with mine. May contact customer support
skipshereoboy@reddit
I have this bike and I love it. The one I bought at my local Walmart was already assembled and ready to go. I was leery due to the price but I've had it since last summer and zero complaints. It doesnt have a throttle but thats a non issue for me, dont miss it and dont know how much I would use it if I had one. I have a couple friends w fancier more expensive bikes but I doubt they enjoy theirs any more than I enjoy mine for half the price.

After 3k miles, and I'm now fighting with Walmart over rear wheel replacement again. You can't get 1500 miles without rear wheel failures.
Furthermore, Phoenix Bicycles the Chinese manufacturer of this bike does not promptly respond to emails for warranty matters.
I have got them dead to rights admitting they leave metal shaving inside the wheels. (That red vinyl band on the inside of your wheel is the only thing keeping metal shavings from destroying your inner tube)
Worse yet, Walmart is playing fast and loose with Magnuson Moss Warranty Act.
With the metal shavings inside the rims. That's. Consumer Safety Recall waiting to happen.
All of you, including me was sold a false bill of goods. This bike styled as "Commutr" and listed on product descriptions as a commuter bike.
It's not a commuter bike, it's a piece of Chinese junk that we all got ripped off on.
Send me a message if you want to know more, like wal marts corporate people involved with this scam.
KabosuCheemz@reddit
What is the email for that?

its in this thread-https://www.reddit.com/r/ebikes/comments/1hoz57q/275_concord_commutr_ebike_walmart_and_forced/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

Care to post screenshots of their responses
WoodenTreat2585@reddit
Tomorrow an investigator from CPSC is coming to my house to take pictures of the broken wheels and the bad brakes. So when I get his business card ill give you that instead. OK?
semirsym@reddit
Why don't you post the screenshots of your conversation with phoenix bicycle since you dislike them so much all your posts seem to be about them
riscten@reddit
I'd just be curious about how well they are assembled. What I understand from Walmart bikes is that they are decent, but since the store employees are assembling them people need to double-check most bolts.
Mstngairplane@reddit (OP)
I am fairly lucky in that I worked at a bike shop for 7 years, so I can assemble without issue. However I wouldn't be surprised if some of these left the store as death traps
Long-Message-3526@reddit
Death trap is a true statement. My son 11 was riding my e bike which was only a month old and barely used assembled at Walmart and the front wheel came off when he was just riding it down the sidewalk on our street. Broke his jaw on both sides and long recovery ahead. If you love and cherish your friends and family, I highly recommend AVOIDING this brand and bike. Warning to all!!!!
Artistic-Channel773@reddit
Liar! Point blank period!
Laserdollarz@reddit
You just raised a good point. Idk if I would trust an ebike assembled by a Walmart bike assembler.
Practical_Tie_3928@reddit
The ebikes are tustworthy, i have the white Concord ebike and its pretty reliable and if the pedal crank breaks you can tape the chain to the bike and still use the pedals to make the bike move(dealing with at current moment). Mine has so far lasted 1150 miles.
Laserdollarz@reddit
You have to be kidding. You can't say "the bikes are trustworthy" and "when the crank breaks just tape it, works fine" in the same sentence.
blitzerina@reddit
store associates don’t assemble them anymore, there’s a third party of actual certified assemblers that assembles these
BeautifulNegative262@reddit
work at a Walmart for the past 10 years my Walmart hires a person from a local bike shop to come down once every 2 month for a week to mass assemble bikes
tracy997@reddit
I love this bike, it’s been nasty here, my very first ride after I put it together was - in the rain with 25mph head winds, for three miles, ( it ATE up the hills😋). It took all of half hour to put together, super simple, (I watched a YouTube video before I bought it), one thing - I can’t get front fender to mount, it’s gotta be me but I’m following instructions?, anyone got a suggestion?
Straight_Fix_2628@reddit
Employees don’t assemble them they have their own people come and assemble them.
CowMaleficent8121@reddit
I just wonder what the weight limit is
Due_Lengthiness_2457@reddit
There is super important information about this bike.
There are two versions issued. One has a removable front wheel with a pinch lever.
This front wheel does NOT have safety clips! That means if it was not fully tightened at the store, the front wheel can fall off when riding. This has happened and people have been seriously injured.
The updated version they have gotten rid of the removable wheel entirely, and put the traditional tongue and groove bike clips in with dome headed nuts. They are little metal clips that go on the wheel bolt, and fit into holes in the fork. If you have the first version, simply buy the clips and put them in before riding. They only cost a few dollars.
Holiday-Owl-1552@reddit
I am pretty impressed with it. I was skeptical about the bike only costing $498. We got 2 the wife and I. Also got the warranty which was $38 per bike and bought the bikes At the store, that way I can return. We have had them for 2 months now and it’s been great. I ride it regular about 4/5 times a week. I have spent about $75 on upgrades. Handle bar riser, better/bigger seat and a seat poll with some bounce. None of this is needed, I just did it fit me better. I’m a tall guy 220lbs. I would recommend this bike. 1st e-bike by the way and it’s a game changer.
Equivalent-Method367@reddit
My comments regarding the front wheel falling off. I have seen 10 speed style bikes over the years that have a safety clip tabs on the front wheel and a locking hole, so they never come off even if the wheel is loose.... you have to take the bolt completely off. Why it doesn't have these I would have no idea but it wouldn't be too difficult to add would it not. Just buy the clips say on eBay and drill a couple holes in the frame?
Euphoric_Still_9335@reddit
My son was ridding the electric bike buly concord and the front wheel came off and something with the brakes he broke his collarbone ,wrist, arm and elbow he is in cass on both arms can't do anything for himself I'm pissed the fuck off

I bought a new Concord 27.5 Electric Bike Class 2 from Walmart and charged the battery fully and only got 8 miles and the battery was dead. Has anyone got any comments as to what is the problem

I just sent a screen shot of this to my spouse the other day. We're thinking of picking this one up too. 👍
This link seems to be an updated link.

I actually just bit the bullet and ordered one, I am excited to see how it holds up!
themyopicmycelium@reddit
How did it end up working out for you?
surfyogi777@reddit
350w will be pretty slow, and that's a pretty heavy bike. I saw this one: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Heybike-Cityrun-Electric-Bike-500W-City-Cruiser-Ebike-48V-15Ah-Removable-Battery-Step-Thru-Bicycle-APP-Control-26-Commuter-Bike-Adults-Shimano-7-Spee/1164215504?from=/search
There are a lot of better bikes on the ebay website, for sure. This one is 500w.

I need a assembly manual
Lucky_Good3439@reddit
I just purchased one of the concord bikes and unfortunately after 2-3 days of riding it I am now noticing a strange sound coming from the bike when I am using the pedal assist. It’s like a machine / robot echo hum sort of sound. Not a mechanical sound of rubbing / creaking / scratching. Would anyone know what this is and how to fix it?
eCaliGirl64@reddit
I bought one in Oct 2024 for my 60th birthday and I am loving it!!!! I had to have it assembled for an additional $165 but the guy came to my house to assemble and taught me one on one how to operate the thing. My son decked it out with speaker & drink holder and this awesome thing like a fanny pack but it holds my phone so I'm all set and ride into town all the time. I'm thinking about getting the black one so my kid or sister can come see and adventure with me😆
