Using a VPN while being logged in to Google is as useful as using your home address when writing an anonymous letter.

I just send my searches to CIA & FBI to save some time. Once I searched who should I vote to and they already filled the ballot for me.

Someone needs to remind Bard a VPN is the equivalent of a speed bump to the NSA.

Sometimes it even makes it easier, if the people who own the VPN are complicit (or coerced). Though, it can actually make it almost impossible if used correctly; all your sensitive content is segregated from anything identifying, you switch IPs relatively often and use servers that also serve other users, all your VPNs are from trusted, audited, log-less sources, and the keys that control your encryption are themselves signed and verified. Or you could use TOR, even better. Even if 50% of the TOR network was strictly controlled by the NSA, there's still an 87.5% chance they can't link your activity to you through network activity alone (again, you do still have to segregate all identifying information though). Still, for most users a VPN is only shifting the burden of trust from your ISP to your VPN provider, and it doesn't provide any real security or privacy.

You are able to combine a trustworthy VPN, with servers outside the US, and the Tor Browser: https://support.torproject.org/de/mullvad-browser/what-is-mullvad-browser/ As search engine, i prefer Metager. It's an german webcrawler for Bing, Yahoo, Scopia, Netluchs and Yandex, instead of Bing alone, like DDG. > As a non-profit organization, we have committed ourselves to free access to knowledge. Since we know that free research is not compatible with mass surveillance, we also take privacy very seriously. We always only process the data that is necessary for the operation of our services. Data protection is always the standard we aim for. We do not operate profiling – i.e. the automatic creation of user profiles.

That's what I like to see: an AI that has a non-biased, open-minded look at the world.

I wanted to see if it would answer questions about political topics that aren't particularly controversial (ie, most people tend to agree on broad strokes across the political spectrum). NGL I kind of respect it more for this, and I'll be looking for this when they finally release Bard.
